Was meant to be on an organised ride, but blew it out. Not feeling like riding today. Have to go collect some new glasses for work and maybe get a haircut. If I'm feeling it tomorrow I'll go clay shooting or I'll just stay in an watch the moped hammering around Silverstone.

Seems like this village vicar spends more time in the pub and on the bike than the church. 🤣🤣

You're not wrong there. Currently sat in the pub with a crowd of foot weary villagers. Fortunately my beloved is driving me home.

Stuck in a traffic jam in Abidjan. Don't think this guy is a Starbucks rival:20250524_171343.thumb.jpg.24358a4b5a00ca24b2077628a697bbff.jpgThe boat ashorewas somewhat interesting particularly when it ran out of fuel. Fortunately he had a couple of jerry cans. Still an hour and a half was a long voyage.20250524_165736.thumb.jpg.0898cb8e2ae6b93987d512e46d266a6a.jpg

My son’s visiting from Norfolk so a session at the  judo club in Carlisle was in order. Being somewhat older than all the others I took it easy. I still ache though.

Also taking time to play with grandson and step-grandkids: exhausted!

My son is coming down tomorrow. Then we are going to ride together to the overlord show. It's a military, mainly second word war stuff show.

It's about ten miles from me. And he has a 30 mile ride to get here. He is still pretty sore from the accident. And it's his first real ride since. So hopefully he will be okay. He is looking forward to both the ride, and the show.

So far this weekend I have been taking the fridge out of our caravan and turning it upside down. It's a 3 way absorbtion type and from time to time the magic gloop that keeps beer cold stops working. I have found that despite what fridge engineers tell me taking it out and turning it upside down always gets it working again.

Then we're off on a medieval tradition of Beating the Bounds for Rogationtide. This means walking the parish boundary, hitting boundary stones with sticks, and ending up in a pub.

Then tomorrow services on farms for Rogationtide, from the old Latin 'rogare' - to ask. The farmers said they needed to ask for rain this year, and they've got it. By the bucketful. Will they be thankful and buy the vicar a beer? We shall see.

That's a very popular fix and works because the chemicals tend to separate and won't circulate, give it a bit of a shake whilst your on, that's been the first go to fix for absorption fridges since they were invented.

It seems to have worked. The fridge us now making ice.

We rarely use the caravan so it gets left unused for months. I'm thinking maybe I should leave the fridge on when the caravan isn't being used. It's hooked up to 240v permanently.

That's the problem you and half the caravan world have, newer fridges are compressor type and much more energy efficient and don't suffer from standing. Turning fridges upside down  was one of the first things I was taught when I was a trainee caravan fitter, yes such jobs exist 😂

Got home. Collecting bike tomorrow afternoon from son in law then on Wednesday up to Northumberland where my Dad is hospitalised. Try and find out what's what and whether I need to call my brothers over. He's 95 in August so had a good run.

Good luck my dad is 94 and staring to become frail, he's just come back from a week in magaluf and as sad as it will be he's had a bloody good run

Indeed, the last year he's been getting noticeably more frail. Losing his eyesight and hearing but still occasionally going out on his bloody mobility scooter. Probably terrorises Morpeth. Less mobile as well, been off his food and his rum. Still he's still got all his marbles unlike my mother who is stuck in 1955.
