Indicator or lifesaver first?

Recommended Posts

Personally.

I look in the mirrors constantly seeing what is going on. If traffic is quiet and i can i tend not to bother indicating and just lifesaver and go.

If it's busy traffic. I always indicate and then always a lifesaver. But i usually have a good idea of where everyone is :)

Ohhh this has actually made me think.. :? All I can hear is "Mirror, Signal, Manoeuvrer" ..

I'm like Glorian, watching my mirrors a lot as a general riding habit, so it would be life saver then indicate for me..

If you indicate first you could cause a vehicle that's in the way to make some weird evasive move from panicking you're going to careen into the side of them..

Knowing my luck I'm wrong and you're meant to indicate then check!

Tends to be all in one fluid motion for me :D

I used to do them before signalling and then just before the move. Then my instructor corrected me and pointed out the the first one isn't a lifesaver, just observation, that the life saver is and only is just before you move. My current bike has shocking mirrors, so lots of observation needed.

Sent from my phone.

I tended to do mirrors constantly as well. Thinking about it though I do tend to do a lifesaver before indicating as well as after.

Yeah I've been thinking about this on and off all afternoon and I think I'm the same..

I live in London. Indicating and looking are not required so we just wildly swerve around. Go round roundabouts anti clockwise, anything goes really.

Don't forget I've got you on video riding in London.

(and you rode nothing like that ) :thumb:

Yeah, regular mirrors check, lifesaver, indicate, lifesaver, manoeuvre.

It's a wonder I ever get anywhere

Just mirror, signal, lifesaver, manouver in the car because the field of view in the mirrors is better

I am glad I am not the only one who got told the same.. I still do the same most of the time, it depends on traffic conditions..
