S-Westerly Posted November 8, 2019 Posted November 8, 2019 If you want to know why a lot of folks pay £100 or more for gloves Google "motorcycle hand injuries". Not pretty viewing. Same applies for boots as well. Quote

Smithers Posted November 9, 2019 Posted November 9, 2019 Merino wool thermal glove liners are very effective in keeping the cold out. Quote

Ian Frog Posted November 10, 2019 Posted November 10, 2019 I was at a top speed event at R.A.F Woodbridge a few years back when one of the competitors came off at 170mph plus. The following day he was back in the paddock apologising to us for holding up racing. He had some bruises and a broken little finger from memory.Someone said that as you have been down the road on your hands and knees if anyone says you spent too much on decent gloves just tell them to do one !By the way Ken is still attending and competing in top speed events CheersIan Quote

Premium. Not really. They cost today, a little under 1.9% of the cash price of the bike I bought last year. So, not much at all. They are worn mostly when the air temp falls below 10c.I DO have plastic surgery on my hands and one very unpleasant side effect is the cold is not just uncomfortable, its agonisingly painful, because the blood supply never really repairs itself. So, i need decent gloves that will keep my hands warm and dry and protect them so i dont need to have even more plastic surgery. If i can justify spending almost £12,000 on a bike then Im not going to quibble over a couple of hundred quid to protect my hands. I only have two of them and need them. Same goes for my jacket and trousers. One nice side effect of buying 'premium' is they last a very long time.. Ive had these gloves for 5 winters now and they still look 'new'. Quote
Snod Blatter Posted November 10, 2019 Posted November 10, 2019 As a result the circulation in my left hand is absolute horrendous. Heated gloves are surely the only way to go, especially when you're doing 25 miles at a time - I've never found any insulation that will keep the cold off for that long. The only downside is you have to plug yourself into the bike so if you rely on a waterproof oversuit in the rain then these are no good because you can't do the suit up with the cable in the way. In that case I use these overmitts which keep the water and the wind off but if you're like me you'll still have dead fingers after 25 miles. Quote
