Trooper74 Posted October 5, 2024 Posted October 5, 2024 (edited) Ride To The Wall. Over 600 bikes left from Woodall Services on the M1 at 0830hrs this morning.. Thousands and thousands at the National Memorial Arboretum… veterans and families … 8000 + bikes ..??? Another amazing day out. Took Connor, introduced him to my fallen comrades at the Wall … 30+ years ago … I’m still full of tears …. Edited October 5, 2024 by Trooper74 6 Quote

One of the screw heads, being made of one part mild steel to 99 parts butter, just turned to mush on first contact with the screwdriver. Managed to get it loose by hammering in a torx bit, but it's been bugging me since. Not wanting to pay £45 for a genuine Triumph cap and screws kit I found these replacements for £6.10 for 10 (delivered), so swapped them out. I think they look rather snazzy. Thanks for that, inspired me to actually sort out some replacement screws for my Honda CBF's master cylinder as one is chewed right up. Meant to do something it since I bought the bike back in June but never got around to it. Used Chat GPT for the exact size and ordered 10 stainless screws from ebay for £2.89. Bargain. Derry boots. I used to have a pair when I was belting around Liverpool on my trusty CG125 delivering paperwork. In the winter the roads were awash with diesel so handling was always lively in the wet. 4 Quote
Simon Davey Posted October 6, 2024 Posted October 6, 2024 Yes Derry boots, that was a long time ago. 2 Quote

I actually ended up having an argument with chat Gpt when it couldn't work out mpg correctly. Eventually it changed its mind and gave the correct answer 2 Quote

Took me probably 5 further prompts telling it the mistake before it realised 2 Quote

It came up with a great route, one I'd not thought of. Only it had me getting off at stations that weren't on the line it had told me to take. And like you, I found it apologed abjectly when i pointed out that it's wrong. It's even promised me to to better, but then failed just the same when it tried. It's undoubtedly a great tool, but not where you value facts over imaginative suggestions. 1 2 Quote
Pie man Posted October 6, 2024 Posted October 6, 2024 Had to be recovered by KTM. Something strange happened. I decided to turn off the ignition and coast to my parking spot behind the office, didn't want to disturb the offices on the ground floor. I free wheeled about 30ft, however, what I didn't know is that the DRL's stayed illuminated. I toddled off to the office, only to come back to the headlight flashing and battery flat. Phoned KTM recovery and within 45mins the AA arrived. Know we both knew all I needed was a jump start but the recovery patrol officer said I will radio through for a transporter and you will be dropped off at home and we will take your bike to a KTM dealer. Obviously I declined and just said jump start it and I will ride home. Bike has been fine since however its booked in for its 9300 mile service this week. Lets see what they say. 4 1 Quote

Bianco2564 Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 Replated power valve parts are back on the engine. The plating didn’t cover the imperfections in the parts as I’d expected so are not perfect but better than before. The sprung cable clip did however come up well and looks like new. Pulley is just cleaned up and the original colour. Bought some new pulley retaining screws as they were too far gone. 5 Quote
Tinkicker Posted October 19, 2024 Posted October 19, 2024 Not to my bike, but yesterday I fettled a pair of Bing CV carbs off a 1974 Beemer R90/6 sidecar bike, for the grandad of a young un at work. Quote

My idea of mechanics is to sit in a dealership cafe pondering over whether to eat a lot of cake or all of the cake while someone who knows what end of a spanner to hold does black magic to my machine. I could teach myself spannering, but life is short. 2 Quote
