Grumpy Old Git Posted February 24 Posted February 24 Who else can remember when the forum held a pre-season meet; an end of season meet; Mince Pie Run to Matlock Bath at Christmas and the ANNUAL Rally. 2 Quote
Tiggie Posted February 24 Posted February 24 Yes I can, Though sadly I also notice that none of the people in those photos have been active on here in several years. Facebook etc really made an impact on forums in general. 2 Quote
Fozzie Posted February 24 Posted February 24 Even the Facebook groups have thinned out a lot. The vast majority of rides I go on throughout the year now are with some of the stragglers who stopped going on the groups but kept contact. Generally speaking since covid, people have "siloed" a lot more, at least in my experience. I've also seen quite a few people hang up their helmets for good in the past few years. Death of a friend/family member due to a bike accident, losing the buzz for it, and arguably the biggest cause, can't afford it thanks to the cost of living rocketing. Hopefully the recent release of cheap and cheerful bikes into the market will see this turn around! 4 Quote

I'll be honest some of these guys are older than me and the appeal of geriatric rockers is not great. Happily listen to their music from back in the day but old guys on stage not really my thing. 2 Quote
Fozzie Posted February 25 Posted February 25 Good evening! Off to Ju-Jitsu training, last Tuesday of the month means a quick trip to the pub afterwards. Much needed already as this week is going to be stressful, but it's for a good reason. After months of hold ups, I'm moving into my new house this weekend 6 Quote
