Afternoon,

We have come across a strange issue with our yamaha mt 125 2017, after the battery has been removed for a while and replaced the ODO reading is showing 1 mile, its a digital display but id of thought it should still of kept its readings, its not set on a trip by accident as we have been through all the settings. Has anyone experienced this before?

Cheers

I think some of the cars sold by a certain car dealer on here may have suffered a similar "accident":seeya:

Shouldn't happen as the mileage ought to be retained via a capacitor holding the charge. But if that's not working then the mileage will be wiped.

Faulty memory chip possibly? does it retain any new mileage put on since it wiped?

Could be. The mileage is saved on a chip. I think it's called an EEPROM chip. It doesn't need power to save the mileage.. Here's a video of a guy reprogramming one.

That would be telling lol.

It wasn`t my intention to name him or her ! they know who they are and if they wish to break cover so to speak it`s their call.

Although the sheepskin coat is a giveaway :classic_ninja::classic_biggrin:

Not me, couldn't sell something to save my life.

Also difficult from the middle of an ocean.

Most of us have a rough idea of what you do lol.

Before anyone asks I also couldn`t sell central heating to eskimo`s so I ply my trade in construction.

This is a video of something that happened to one of my cars. The odo just kept climbing so I killed the ignition. It kept going whenever I switched it back on :classic_blink:

Think it gained around 2000 miles before it stopped doing it!

@Tiggie Did you ever figure out what caused it?  Looked like the check engine light was on in your video? I had that happen on a bike. The insulation on the speedo signal wire had rubbed through and it was grounding on the front suspension so the speedo was all over the place and the miles were counting up when you stopped:classic_blink:

No, once it stopped it never happened again so I didn't bother looking into it. Showed it to a local mechanic that comes into shop and he said he had seen it before and knew a guy who could roll it back for me if I wanted!  I didn't bother as it really wasn't worth the effort.

The dashboard lights were all on because I hadn't started the engine yet. I did plug my obd reader in but it didn't show any codes.
