dynax Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 I still have some compact flash cards and a reader that still works and digital camera that uses them Quote
Bender Posted January 30, 2021 Author Posted January 30, 2021 I have flash cards and the camera to go with. I spent 15mins trying to get another USB stick to work, just wouldn't show up as a drive, eventually worked it out it wasn't a memory stick it was a receiver for a wireless mouse 7 Quote
dynax Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 Funnily enough I have just reinstated my wireless mouse on the PC as I wanted the wired one for the laptop. Quote

husoi Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 And have a couple boxes full of floppy disks Had to get an external drive to get the documents out of them. What I clearly remember is my first 14kb dial-up modem Had to wait 1 week for the newer model to arrive 1 Quote
Bender Posted January 30, 2021 Author Posted January 30, 2021 Solwis who I belive are still going used to advertise in every pc mag, external modems used to be such a pain, I remember seeing the 56k come out and couldn't belive the speed. Bding, Bding............boing boing.....white noise well sounded like it Quote
rennie Posted January 31, 2021 Posted January 31, 2021 We've still got hundreds of cdg karaoke discs and the twin disc player to play them 1 Quote

geofferz Posted January 31, 2021 Posted January 31, 2021 For those unaware of the current cost of memory (me too, though I had a ballpark idea), here's 1TB - 1000GB - for £28 https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08SBN96LN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_8BTPBBZARKN1P4VMWN45 1 Quote

I got a Western Digital 3Tb cloud storage unit to have it developing a fatal fault 2 weeks before the end of the warranty. Fortunately, WD customer service is excellent and I manage to get a replacement and recover all the information from the faulty drive. But you're right, if it was a unbranded unit I would have been stuffed Quote
Bender Posted February 1, 2021 Author Posted February 1, 2021 Nothing worse in a pc than the sound of a hdd clicking and dying. 2 Quote
