WD40 Posted March 6, 2021 Posted March 6, 2021 Hands up anyone that has one of those boxes of assorted o-rings....but it never has the right o-ring in it 3 1 Quote
Tiggie Posted March 6, 2021 Posted March 6, 2021 @smallfrowne Most likely they'd be fine, was just erring on the side of caution after all the trouble he's had already!! I too will take no responsibility for any leaks that may occur Here is a guide to different o-ring materials if anyone is interested. https://www.martins-rubber.co.uk/blog/an-o-ring-material-selection-guide/ Quote

fastbob Posted March 6, 2021 Posted March 6, 2021 (edited) Looking good so far . Those gaskets look a lot better . I don't know who fabricated that exhaust but they might do well to take a welding course after they've been to Specsavers . I'm not sure why you have had to use all those ratchet straps and blocks unless you have already bolted up the rear end . If that's the case I would have probably elongated the hole in the bracket a little to give some leeway . It's not entirely satisfactory for the whole system to be under tension like that . James in Brum Posted March 6, 2021 Author Posted March 6, 2021 https://youtube.com/shorts/5ZLyREp8Ko0 a lot of smoke at first. Just the oil burning off the exhaust and where it spilled. Ran for about four minutes then no smoke anywhere! 3 Quote

James in Brum Posted March 6, 2021 Author Posted March 6, 2021 Thanks @linuxrobi didn’t use the flappy wheel Quote

James in Brum Posted March 6, 2021 Author Posted March 6, 2021 I am so nervous that I may have got it wrong and will knacker it by taking it out! Quote

James in Brum Posted March 6, 2021 Author Posted March 6, 2021 Something wrong with the clutch/clutch cable. Just trying to work it out. Must be something I have done when I reseat that elbow thing there is too much slack in the clutch cable, I cannot use the clutch and the handlebar and leaver are to close to each other. Quote
James in Brum Posted March 6, 2021 Author Posted March 6, 2021 I think that is the clutch release shaft and I don’t think it should hang out of there that far? Quote
James in Brum Posted March 6, 2021 Author Posted March 6, 2021 This is stating to feel like Trigger’s broom Quote
smallfrowne Posted March 6, 2021 Posted March 6, 2021 Interesting. It does look like it's hanging low. Can you twist it back and push it back in? Maybe disconnecting or loosening the cable off too if it's a struggle. Oh man. How's that happened? Is there a saboteur about? I don't understand how it's falling out. I can't remember what goes on inside and I've put too many shelves up and had too many beers to concentrate. Quote
James in Brum Posted March 6, 2021 Author Posted March 6, 2021 @fastbob gave me a call. Exactly as you describe @smallfrowne take cable off, fidget it back put cable back. I am heading out now for a ride 4 Quote

Mississippi Bullfrog Posted March 6, 2021 Posted March 6, 2021 Glad it's fixed. Well done. Just out of interest though, what had happened for the clutch actuator to drop like that? Quote

James in Brum Posted March 6, 2021 Author Posted March 6, 2021 Thanks everyone. Lovely picture of me in my mechanic gear @fastbob. the rod thingy dropped, at some point throughout all this I took the tension out of the clutch cable, probably by taking off the bracket for it that fits to the clutch. The rod just needed a wee twist and it could drop out of place using gravity to help. Reversed all that and it is grand 1 1 Quote
