@smallfrowne Most likely they'd be fine, was just erring on the side of caution after all the trouble he's had already!!

I too will take no responsibility for any leaks that may occur

Here is a guide to different o-ring materials if anyone is interested.

Looking good so far . Those gaskets look a lot better . I don't know who fabricated that exhaust but they might do well to take a welding course after they've been to Specsavers . I'm not sure why you have had to use all those ratchet straps and blocks unless you have already bolted up the rear end . If that's the case I would have probably elongated the hole in the bracket a little to give some leeway . It's not entirely satisfactory for the whole system to be under tension like that .

Anything wrong with using a flap wheel? Spiny Sandy thingy?

NEVER, besides the damage you could do, all that dust etc going into your bottom end. Slowly carefully with a dulled blade.

A quick rub down with a course Scotchpad and a good brushed on coat of Barbecue paint should sort it . Nobody's going to see it .

I am so nervous that I may have got it wrong and will knacker it by taking it out!

Leave the lower fairing off for now so that you can check for leaks .

Something wrong with the clutch/clutch cable. Just trying to work it out. Must be something I have done :-(

when I reseat that elbow thing there is too much slack in the clutch cable, I cannot use the clutch and the handlebar and leaver are to close to each other.

Interesting.

It does look like it's hanging low. Can you twist it back and push it back in? Maybe disconnecting or loosening the cable off too if it's a struggle. Oh man. How's that happened? Is there a saboteur about?

I don't understand how it's falling out. I can't remember what goes on inside and I've put too many shelves up and had too many beers to concentrate.

Thanks everyone. Lovely picture of me in my mechanic gear @fastbob.

the rod thingy dropped, at some point throughout all this I took the tension out of the clutch cable, probably by taking off the bracket for it that fits to the clutch. The rod just needed a wee twist and it could drop out of place using gravity to help. Reversed all that and it is grand :-)
