Recently 4 gents in balaclavas decided they wanted to see the inside of my top box. As a result it no longer locks. I've tried fixing it but it just isn't happening.

I've got a new box coming today. But how do I get rid of the old one. Its a big plastic shad box. Can these be recycled or something.

Plant pot?

Take it to your nearest recycling centre and ask them. They will either point you to a recycle container or it will go in general waste.

A lot a centres are starting to use general waste to make energy now, so it may not go to land fill.

Plant pots sounds like a good idea :)

you can use the base for one and the lid for another.

If disposing of, it is plastic so should be disposed as such.

A real shame you can't repair it,  getting rid shouldn't be a problem, recycling centre,  failing that take a saw to it and put it in the bin

I would repair it for you if you were closer.

postage would me more expensive than the new box...

Well if you're in South London with a few hours to kill then drop me a message.

@Davidtav I don't think anyone would buy it. It needs a whole new handle and there's a hole what looks like from a screwdriver in it.

I'll be going down south late May for 1 week. I probably could put in the trailer and bring it up to fix it.

The problem afterwards would be send it back to you but after being repaired (if at all possible) maybe we can find a way to have it returned :thumb:

Or sell locally and send you the dosh

Just to be clear, I'm not asking to be paid if I manage to repair it.

I just like a good challenge :thumb:

Put a hasp and staple on it with a padlock 👌

I did that with an old broken top box someone was chucking out. It has the added benefit of making the box look like it's not worth breaking into.
