CELTICDUFF Posted October 28, 2023 Posted October 28, 2023 Hello. I have posted before about the issue of clothing for the larger man. I have brought a pair of Richa waterproofs. Problem is that due to me being fat . They are far too long . Perfect on the waist . Any advice would be appreciated Quote
Nick the wanderer Posted October 28, 2023 Posted October 28, 2023 Hi never used them but you either get stuff altered or get bespoke from the likes of BKS https://www.bksleather.co.uk/ Quote
bonio Posted October 28, 2023 Posted October 28, 2023 Can't remember if goat mentioned https://www.hideout-leather.co.uk/. They will make you riding clothes to fit. Your wallet will be a lot lighter afterwards, but worth noting if other avenues don't work out. Quote
CELTICDUFF Posted October 29, 2023 Author Posted October 29, 2023 Cheers, unfortunately I got a not in a position to get clothes made for me . There is some other options Quote
Nick the wanderer Posted October 29, 2023 Posted October 29, 2023 well you could always go old school and alter them yourself. Get the sewing machine out, what's the worst that could happen? Quote

Nick the wanderer Posted October 29, 2023 Posted October 29, 2023 Or better still find someone who can do them for you. Quote
Guest Posted October 29, 2023 Posted October 29, 2023 Not sure how easy it is to sew waterproofs without compromising waterproofedness? Have you tried waterproofs from an outdoor shop or army surplus? Quote
S-Westerly Posted October 29, 2023 Posted October 29, 2023 I wouldn't have thought taking something of the ends of the legs would affect the waterproofing. Its not like your messing with seams. Cut, hem if you want and if you are really fussy put waterproof tape over the hem. Job done. Quote
Joe85 Posted October 29, 2023 Posted October 29, 2023 Can't you just fold them up and glue them? Quote
Guest Posted October 29, 2023 Posted October 29, 2023 Make an entire jacket put of waterproof tape Quote
RideWithStyles Posted October 29, 2023 Posted October 29, 2023 You need to think of your individual lengths, how short are you? Longer arms? If you just hack the lower legs off the pants the knee placement will be below your actual knee position . Same with the arms... some brands accommodate the chonky person, generally if you look at german brands will give you a better choice. Quote
skyrider Posted October 30, 2023 Posted October 30, 2023 yes i have just had the arms shortened on my bike leather and she took it from both ends first from the shoulders and then from the cuffs and she did a brilliant job including re fitting the zips at the cuffs (JOYDA leathers from wigan in lancashire ) 1 Quote
S-Westerly Posted October 30, 2023 Posted October 30, 2023 So far as I know the brand with the most choice in leg lengths is usually Rukka who are Finnish. They are also among the most expensive. As always you get what you pay for. Quote
skyrider Posted October 30, 2023 Posted October 30, 2023 i have heard that a lot of dispatchers use them Quote
RideWithStyles Posted October 30, 2023 Posted October 30, 2023 Dispatchers are obviously paid too much . Westys point is not far off. much Like racing the more you pay for diminishing returns, there is a sweet spot just need to research and find what that is for you. Quote
