Hi, I'm getting a new CB125F at the weekend and have a locked garage to store it in. What other devices would you recommend?

Amazon do a £15 ish motion alarm that you put under the seat and operate with a remote fob.

Oxford (or similar) alarmed disk lock might be worth sticking on there.

I doubt the insurance company will give you much of a discount for the motion alarm, but the disk lock might knock a bit off your premium. Try the quote both ways, and if it doesn't make a difference don't tell them, otherwise you'll be obliged to use it every time and will be effectively uninsured for theft if you forget.

Ground anchor, doesn’t have to the biggest thing as these also depends on what size of chain (links) your thinking of using.
10mm is really the minimum. Oxford is a dependable brand for these things and not costing a fortune.

If the garage has any windows, paper them over so they still let in the light but don't let people look in.

I find it easier with translucid sticker sheets.

I use an alarm disc lock and a heavy duty chain / ground anchor whilst the bikes are in the garage. 125s tend to get stolen more often so watch out for signs of anyone following you home to see where the bike is kept. And don't leave the bikje on display with the door open more than you have to. A shed / garage alarm is also worth considering if your garage isn't covered by a home security alarm.

I would recommend you get a chain listed by the insurance companies as acceptable to them. I use confused.com for quotes and they include a drop down box with a long list of options. I use the Bennets recommended and tested Milenco Coleraine 9mm.

A 9mm chain would take maybe 20-40 seconds with a portable grinder surely? Even the diamond rated chains only need to take longer than 90 seconds to qualify.

From quite substantial research I have concluded these are only minor delays and deterrants at best should someone plan to take the bike.

Im sure it’s Longer than 90 secs and that is with a vice to hold the link(s), new expensive industrial high powered mains grinder with many diamond and alternative coating discs they are tested to.

Most scum will have a more portable and battery operated at best, which slows it down.

it goes as buy as appropriate or you willing to risk.
anything and as much as possible you can do/put on is a higher chance of them making noise (drawing attention) and time (to stall or tackle ) is their enemy.

if they want it and prepared to risk it for what it’s worth they will have owt including needing to “blow the bloody doors off” to get it.
