AstronautNinja Posted August 15, 2024 Posted August 15, 2024 Found these from a bennets review and figured it seemed a pretty good idea. Any opinions or thoughts I might of missed? https://roadlokuk.co.uk/shop/roadlok-xra-eurosport-right-side-100mm/ https://www.bennetts.co.uk/bikesocial/reviews/products/security/motorcycle-chains-and-locks/roadlok-review-motorcycle-disc-lock I'd likely use along side an alarmed disc lock just for some audible fvckery for anyone playing silly cvnts Quote
husoi Posted August 15, 2024 Posted August 15, 2024 200 quid for a disk lock?????? No phoking way, and can't even be bothered explaining or showing where and how it's fitted. 1 Quote
KiwiBob Posted August 15, 2024 Posted August 15, 2024 Looks like a decent bit of kit if you have a spare £200 ... No good for my bike though as it only fits on bikes with calipers that are radially mounted! 1 Quote

Probably not significant but adding even such a low weight to the unstrung mass ? 1 Quote
RideWithStyles Posted August 15, 2024 Posted August 15, 2024 So basically the frame stays as it is mounted ontop of the calliper. the locking pin has two places, out of use the pin is on the outside rim of the disc, in use and locked is on the inside and fits in one of the out holes of the disc surface. in some ways yes it good and very portable as its always with you/ the bike and very secure. The review did mention the weight of the lock being far below the weight of the disc and caliper assembly on a single disc bike. Anyway, if cost is the only aparant grumble then I'll try one. 1 Quote
AstronautNinja Posted August 15, 2024 Author Posted August 15, 2024 I may even buy left and right to keep things level 2 Quote
RideWithStyles Posted August 15, 2024 Posted August 15, 2024 I suspect the cost is reflected though not always obvious. it starting as being a single piece of billet (for strength and security), most of the billet being milled to what you see, so a lot waste is made for the benefit of the user. husoi Posted August 15, 2024 Posted August 15, 2024 Considering that I weight 93kg, the pan is 320kg. would I worry about the weight of a normal disk lock ? Not to mention 2 panniers, a topbox, storage right and left on the fairings... Quote
AstronautNinja Posted August 15, 2024 Author Posted August 15, 2024 Just now, husoi said: Considering that I weight 93kg, the pan is 320kg. would I worry about the weight of a normal disk lock ? Pie man Posted August 15, 2024 Posted August 15, 2024 KTM have been flogging the radial lock in their power parts and accessories sites, but they want £361 Quote

RideWithStyles Posted August 16, 2024 Posted August 16, 2024 Certainly weighs less than most “worth while” disc locks and less than the “tool kit” that bikes come with under the seat thats either forgotten about or escaped. i know robbers! Go all the way to anodised it orange, mill KTMs logo into the body but still get some nasty 10p carabiner and a pezzy roadlok key ring. Quote
S-Westerly Posted August 16, 2024 Posted August 16, 2024 Guzzi don't even pretend to provide a toolkit with the bike. There's a single Allen key clipped to the bottom of the seat and I've no idea what it's for as it doesn't fit any of the obvious fittings. The space under the seat is big enough for maybe a toothbrush, not much more. Quote
rob m Posted August 16, 2024 Posted August 16, 2024 Sorry to be a party pooper but I missed the bit where it stops the bike being lifted into a van. That's a lot of money to deter joyriders. Pro thieves will work out a way around it soon enough. They spend a lot of time working out how to steal bikes...far more time than we spend buying devices to deter them. 1 Quote

After searching for security devices etc Instagram now shows me all the little scrotes robbing bikes for some infuriating reason hence my interest in other options. As sickening as these videos are it has given me a good insight to their approaches. The bike is fine where it is overnight, it lives with a local mechanic in a secure unit with no break ins in 15 years I'm told. My main concern is when I plan trips away / overnight stays. I get it's not overly cheap, £200 really isn't an issue to me if it does as described / compared to a traditional disc lock. 1 Quote
