Four wheels today. Replaced the carburettor on our ancient Honda quad bike. It's a poxy job, but only because of the width of the damn thing, and all of the "pre-broken" panel clips. Just took 2 hours though. Started on the button, and runs so sweetly.

Hi TTMCT, and welcome to the forum. Are the wires into a connecting block, or are they loose and twisted together, do they come from the main loom and are hanging down from it? It may be that they were from and alarm, or even just once part of a connector for a battery charger, or maybe someone had them running up to the handlebars to supply a phone charger. Maybe post a picture, there are a couple of CBF 125 owners on here.

For want of a better description, your instructor sounds like a bit of a tosser. Have you mentioned this to him/her, if not, maybe you should because it's your pass or fail, and not theirs. Perhaps go over their head and talk to other training staff? -
You're not wrong there!! In the nine years of being on this little farm, I've never needed one, until now. Maybe I should look for something manual, that doesn't require fitting. There's also a lot to be said for checking the 4WD works. I've actually towed a trailer with a tonne of wood through mud up to the sills, and also pulled a 32 tonne lorry that was spinning in mud. But feck me, when I really need it, it's not working. The truck hasn't sunk, it's just spinning on soft stuff.

Hi @Nadine It sounds very much like there is a battery issue. If it starts, and there's still no power to the lights or indicators etc, it could be that the battery is disconnected, have you checked? Also, it could be that there is no charge from the rectifier (with converts the power to charge the battery).

My afternoon didn't go so well. My little tractor got stuck in the boggy part of a paddock whilst I was spraying iron phosphate to feed the grass and kill the moss. No worries, it's much firmer just a few meters ahead, I'll pull it out with my pickup truck. Seems the 4WD light on the dashboard is lying. My friend is coming with a bigger tractor in the morning to pull them both out
