It's actually the forks that snap: http://www.adventuresinfinite.com/Motorcycling/images/BrokenBike/forks1.jpg I checked mine a while back and noticed that my right fork leg is one of the newer reinforced ones but my left is the old type - that was the point when I first suspected that this bike has been in a nasty crash at some point and nobody told the insurers

  4. Also don't chop chillies then rub your eye with the back of your hand in the assumption that you didn't get any on it. Once was enough for me to learn to be more cautious about that!

Last year I spent hours trying to mask the brakes and tyres and then spray apply it, took far too long. Going to try applying it with a cloth this year instead, sounds much easier!

Yup, mine did the same last year. Which reminds me, I should really get around to doing it this weekend.
  7. Blimey! If it's almost ready for Swiss trip then you're doing a lot better than I have with my BMW, I wouldn't trust it to get anywhere near that far and I've been fixing bits of it for the last year or so
  8. Oh wow... That's nuts. Can't believe the bike even works with it looking like that! You sure the airbox hasn't caught fire at some point?
  9. One of my bikes has a battery of unknown origin but it has survived quite a few extended periods of not being used and forgetting to use my maintenance charger I would offer to check what make it is so that I can recommend it, but I'd have to dismantle the false tank to get to it and I have better things to do with my lunch break The other one came with a Yuasa that's shagged, the bike can actually run happily enough with no battery at all but the MOT is soon so I'm giving a Continental battery a try. I'd say go for the sealed battery - one less thing to check when doing maintenance on the bike, and with a bike like yours or mine that can't be a bad thing I've been wanting to swap for a sealed one but the only ones available for my bike require modifications to the battery holder

  11. Also worth noting that the "check and send" service rejects an impressive percentage of passport photos if you're applying in a Post Office with a photo booth...
  12. Well, you lived to tell the tale and you recognise your mistake, that's the important bit. I once did something very similar but it involved two articulated lorries
  13. Try taking a crack at the Challenge 100 (link to the thread appears on every page), that's a great way to do some serious miles on a 125 and build confidence. I managed to rack up 14,000 miles on my 125 in just over a year And I did pretty well too, think I came something like 5th in the challenge that year...
  14. I found that all the roundabouts surrounding my old house made me get very good at cornering my 125 cruiser Did have to get the pegs welded back on a couple of times.
  15. Guess you'd better get a whole lot of riding in between now and the meet, then I remember breaking in my Lexmoto... I was hitting a service interval every weekend, even had to cycle to work some days in order to avoid going over the mileage
  16. +1 what Psychybikey said, a 125 can still be bags of fun even after riding a bigger bike. I continued to ride my old 125 after passing my tests and getting my big bike, and when the 125 had an accident earlier this year I replaced it with another in short order! There's something very fun about having such a lightweight bike that you have to absolutely wring every last drop of power out of.
  17. The fog on the fens was so thick this morning that I couldn't see much more than 50m ahead of my bike - and yet it still went past no less than half a dozen cages with every single light switched off as they went along the national speed limit section of my ride to work Nobs, every one of them!
  18. Worth noting that sometimes the trade card actually gives worse prices than the website! So it's not a bad move to check the web prices for any items you want before you go to the store. Then when you're at the till you can change your mind about stuff that is a worse deal on the trade card, and place an order on your phone and collect it immediately after Oh, and if it's cheaper online and so you place a collect at store order, don't present your trade card when you're collecting it! It overrides the web prices and you're back to paying the slightly higher trade price again.
  19. Your link is to a CBR400R, that's a Japan-only model that came out a couple of years ago so it makes sense that it isn't on the DVLA site. The "baby blade" is the CBR400RR, and that churns out 55bhp, and is therefore not A2 legal without restriction. And as mentioned above, you'd have one hell of a time doing the U turn and figure 8 on one of those
  20. I filled out most of it, but then when the final questions said "90, 140, 460" as examples of maximum price someone might give as their answer, I very rapidly realised that I'm not the sort of person who you would ever be targeting your product at
  21. tis for sale for the right price http://www.cassone-art.com/images/news/main/2013_BU_Ironside_50p_Reverse.jpg +
  22. Can't we just run the power grid by chaining up everyone who comments regularly on Visordown posts and running turbines off the incredible amounts of hot air they spout?
  23. If anything, my absence will make the rest of you lot seem a lot more attractive!
  24. Both my bikes have a 250 mile tank range, whichever one I ride I'm not gonna have to worry about fuel stops The question is, do I ride the CG and take twice as long to get there as the BMW on a good day, or ride the BMW and risk not getting there at all...
  25. I'll say one thing about Spectrum games; BEST BOX ART EVER. Nothing since has come close.
