  1. Yeah I check Gumtree, Freeads and all the rest fairly often - sooo many moody looking bikes. We need to break out the bullying tactics to get people involved. Steve - I'm really after a bike but if it goes tits up I may well come begging in a couple of months!
  2. How's everyone getting on with their bike search? Cheap 125s are a little harder to come by than I originally thought! Those eBay specials always creep above the £300 mark or are a million miles away. Already lost out on a Lexmoto and a couple of others I don't know how to pronounce. I might have to go for an ancient Japanese bike at this rate.
  3. It's not a nuclear one but you could go and nab that old Russian one that's been bobbing about in the Medway for years.
  4. I use a few smallish panels wired together to keep my garage lighting battery topped up as well as charge the bike batteries now and again. Been going for a few years now without using a mains charger. It's unregulated and can reach 19V on a sunny day but nothing has gone bandy yet.
  5. I hadn't even considered the diversity aspect of immigration either. A new convenience shop opened up in my village the other week. If all immigrants were to be deported then 100% (i.e. both) of the shops would close and I'd have nowhere to buy Rolos. On a slightly different note, I heard a radio programme earlier that had various political types from the "in" and "out" camps and none of the slippery buggers would answer a straight question. Even when the chair asked directly "What are your plans on immigration?" all he got was the same old cobblers "Well you see, the question we should really be asking is..." I think this is perhaps why many of us struggle to make a reasoned, rational decision. The tail line at the end of the programme was something like "With so many mixed messages and scaremongering, the public can only rely on their gut feeling". Hold on, just remembered the chippy would close too. My village would just be some houses and a load of ducks.
  6. I think you'll find, should you read the article fully, that the hound in question was in fact scampering about with an armalite. Why would you illegally block an entire road while you fannied about finding tiddles' owner? That does sound like a very silly thing to do.
  7. Resident Evil style! Don't know why the first bloke started waving his pistol about at the dog - it's not as if you can intimidate an animal with a firearm.
  8. Because this always happens doesn't it. We'd probably have a better chance is decent, honest people were in charge. Are we over analysing this and getting lost in the minutiae? To use a Blairism that make my spine feel odd, we need to get "back to basics". I've not done a great deal of research in to the in-out debate or the consequences or either - which is likely far more than most will do before voting however, what fundamental things will result from an "out" result that are of interest to the man in the street? Will we kick out everyone who isn't a fully paid up British bod? Will all illegals get an instant UK passport? Will unemployment reduce or rise? Will EU countries get narky with us and make travel more onerous? Are we likely to see import/export costs rise? Will trade be more difficult/expensive? What will happen to public services? Will we revert to 1970's Britain? How will I feel this in my pocket? Will there be another "temporary" tax hike that becomes permanent? Will Sterling strengthen or weaken? Will we be able to shed some of the ridiculous rules and regs derived from the EU? Horror of horrors, will we end up like America? The green stuff is all very interesting but I think that it's a bit of a red herring. We will continue down that path, not because of some fantastic set of ideals but because that's where the money lies. If I were head of an energy firm and had the opportunity to implement something that would increase efficiency from 40% to 80% while still charging the end user the same then I'd do it. "Out" could be good for green if the price of oil/gas gets jacked up as everyone will want an alternative and cheaper fuel source. I filled my oil tank the other day which cost me £280ish, down from £460ish last year - if it were to go up to say £600 to fill it I would certainly look long and hard at ground source. Similarly, if electricity went up significantly then I would clad the roof of my house in solar panels providing I could store the energy so I could plug my car/bike in when I get home from work. Not because of the long term effect on bunnies and kittens but because it will cost me less in the long run and I'd get a warm, fuzzy feeling from not paying tax on my fuel (poor old UK.gov will no doubt find a way to swindle me back out of it though).
  9. I feel sorry for the coppers - the paperwork they're filling out will probably take them until time stops to complete.
  10. Has anyone seen Waterworld? You know, that terrible film with Kevin Costner. The baddie had an old oil tanker for him and his cronies. A similar thing could be employed (ha!) to solve the idle layabout problem.
  11. Funny you should say that Stu - reminded me of the olden days when I worked in MOD kitchens (really shit job). The guys we had from Kosovo or wherever didn't bat an eyelid if I asked for a hand cleaning the nastiest gunk out of the bottom of fryer at the end of the season whereas the guys for the UK were one of the laziest bunch of idle layabouts I've met.
  12. Wouldn't you just love to meet him and for everything he says you one-up him. Nob: "I'm a tactical paramedic" Boss: "Well I'm a tactical paramedic ninja" WTF is a tactical paramedic anyway? Does he leap out from behind a bush with an oxygen mask or spend ages planning how to treat you piles?
  13. *Bangs on desk* Hear, hear! I don't know how many people on here have spent time with the terminally unemployed but to generalise rather broadly; the most often touted reason for not bothering to have a job is "the immigrants took our jobs" but when asked if they would clean a car or a bog they tend to wrinkle up their nose because that job "isn't good enough" for them. It's just too easy to sit on your arse watching Jeremy Vile rather than going out and grafting. Think of all the millennials with dogshit degrees who won't entertain a job at the bottom of the ladder because they think they deserve to go straight in at £30k. Again, these people end up on the sofa doing nothing so the enterprising immigrant nips in and quite rightly grabs the job. How many people have seen that new benefits programme on the TV? One lot have spunked most of their £26k on utter shite in the space of 3 weeks, another after clearing out his garage claimed "This is the hardest work I've done in my life" and the final one is all mouth and no trousers about getting a job - bangs on about getting a job but when it comes to it... Anyway, back to the EU. I'd like some more facts and evidence before I decide. Imports and exports will likely become more expensive. Tax will probably go up a bit in some shape or other and things will almost certainly get worse before they get better if we leave. However, many things should be simplified - construction will be quicker and cheaper for one as government construction will presumably no longer have to go through the rigmarole of EU tendering and all that sort of silly stuff. If we stay... Well we'll probably just trundle along as usual and I think that's the issue. People don't like change. I'm kind of in the "let's give it a whirl" camp but do I want to take the chance that the wheels will come off (worse than they will if we stay in)? There's also a bit of stigma with voting out that one will get bundled in with the small minded, bigoted "send 'em all back" brigade. I think it would be a much easier decision to make if the politicians made a realistic plan for both scenarios, published it and stuck to the bloody thing for once.
  14. I like this and I like your vice.
  15. Last night it was an old woman for me. Walking down the side of an NSL country road in the dark wearing nice dark clothing. She very nearly got squished.
  16. Nice tiny package of fun. Electric or nitro?
  17. I hate to say it but muffs are quite good. The ends of my fingers usually hurt in the cold after a while as they dangle down and don't contact the heated grip. Curse you big hands!
  18. *GASP* Jesus will save us from breakdowns!
  19. I'd down with it Ollie. Thanks for getting the plans together!
  20. It would be great to have a support vehicle in case of mishaps.
  21. I think bonus points should be awarded to anyone who buys a bike off CK.
  22. So what's the consensus? Chinese only or do we allow Japanese too? Certainly opens up more possibilities but it gives a high likelihood that we all turn up on old CGs and finish without much trouble.
  23. It's not the tiny wiper for me, it's the huge bar thing at the top of the visor.
  24. I think so long as it's 125 or below and Chinese then it's a winner. What do you reckon guys? 300 max for buying fixing only?
  25. Tradepoint is a massive waste of time. So few things are on it and most of the things that are have a weensy discount. Anyroad, I get far better prices, service and delivery on my Ridgeons account.
