  1. That how I have mine give or take, however I find best change after that is to tilt the deflector. Mine have always been a little more vertical ie narrower at bottom and wider at top. I think yours is similar.
  2. Not certain if Inposted that in the right thread
  3. I would agree, here I am often look for stuff for 12 months till I see the bargain. I am considering a new lid, I know 3 models I would consider. However they still need to drop, they will in the size I need and design I like, in the mean time I wait. Something better might come along anyway. We did the same for the fridge for the boat £450 down to £200. We waited years for that as at £450 it was slow working it's way up our agenda, at £200 it hit the top.
  4. Security concerns have been raised following reports that the perimeter fencing at Knowsley Safari Park is falling into disrepair and there are no funds available to replace it. When asked about the consequences of a lion escaping and wandering around Merseyside, a park spokesman said: "Well, it would just have to try and defend itself the best it could."
  5. Stu had probably just booked himself in to services for mental health and wellbeing because he tries to keep this place on the road. HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL
  6. Absolutely no use in this circumstance but early in my biking I had a fall out with an insurance company that would not increase my annual mileage. First advice I got from the ombudsman, who took on my case. Was to cancel my own insurance before they did it! For just this reason. Insurance companies have been known to cancel insurance if you challenge them. Just to make it difficult in future, we know how obliging they are.
  7. Never noticed how the complexity of a simple step is multiplied by reducing the number of available buttons? Google is your friend, I suspect try various combinations or ask the last owner probably not he first times it’s done this.
  8. I am going to have to nominate me. Santa supplied daughter a new lid from Christmas. So time to transfare to Packtalk from Lid to lid. Her old lid out my present lid, and remove pack talk. Only when I had my pack talk in hand did I realise just, that my pack talk and boom mike in hand from MY lid I reinstalled back in my lid. Took the Packtalk from my daughters old lid and install on her new Lid. We then went for a ride Luckily it was Christmas lights ride so we wanted the dark. Just missed the sunset.
  9. Late ride today, evening ride round local Christmas lights, as promised for daughter. Daughter loved her new lid and boots. She's still on her 50cc so I was on the CBR, not certain the Trophy would go that slow.
  10. Mine would be be carful with your online ordering. Working right up to Christmas, finishing some time after 0630 tomorrow. We figuered we would trust Morrisons followed our instructions order your “Center piece” before x date to ensure delivery. 2.5kg of Gammon ordered 0.5 kg received well that ain’t going to work with 8. Even if we have 2 different meats to Roast. So misses out emergency shopping me doing house work 2 hours less sleep for between nights.
  11. Just to make you feel better, 2 more nights for me. Then I am off for Christmas First off in a few years.
  12. You are talking VERY fine adjustments on the rear axle, 1/4 turn can make a difference. My suggestion is in time you learn to feel when the chain is to loose. A snatchines when chaining gears is my warning it’s subtle. It doesn’t take long before your lifting it with your foot and saying yup or nay.
  13. It depends on the bike and also how often you ride it, bike batteries are small they don’t take much charging. 30 minutes was enough with my TDM if ridden once a fortnight. 5-10 minutes 2 a daily wasn’t enough to keep up if used to commute to work. Then it had data tool alarm that nibbled at the battery. My CBR 125 has no issues with my commute to work.
  14. Don’t start on fees for parking bikes, the variations can be massive, round here it varies: Free every where, Free in bike parking, 1 ticket one space (play bike Tetris stack em high), One per bike regardless of number of bays, I am sure more can be found - although I am not sure how you find out which is being enforced without getting a parking fine.
  15. The Crankcase breather goes into your air box, look at the size of the hose. The connections the Crankcase is hardly a pressure vessel. It has a vent to stop it being such. I did some googling: "2.5 to 6 psi" is the highest figure I can find for Crankcase pressure. 6PSI. Being approx 4.2 kgs cm Force exerted by 6 psi on 1/2" or 12mm nut? About 5kgs Given my bad maths that is which really is not that much. Your 1/2 turn on the spanner would be more than that. I would be amazed if it ever got anything like that high on any bike. On my trophy 6 Psi over the area of the base of the sump would be about 1 Ton of force. Then there is this: https://bikesandtravels.com/biker.aspx?ride=854 I agree if for some reason the pressure is allowed to build up something is going to give. Given the description of thread strength above it might be the plug. Then on my trophy it would be seal on timing pick up. The reason for a big nut in a weak casting? Maybe It's a drain hole it would take a long time to drain oil from a small hole. Maybe plugs are designed like this:To reduce the chance of people putting large spanner on and striping threads. I can only hope the same people did not fit the spark plugs. Another area where a torq wrench should be used till you the feel of it. It really isn't that much torque. The other solution could be to look on internet for new sump case, base, bottom plate or whatever they call it. Just check how easy it would be to change. Might be engine out, might be 6-10 small bolts.
  16. I am a bad engineer my solution would be: New crush washer a dab of this or similar, Tighten as you discribed, If it don't leak job done, this is not a high pressure point. It's a bung to hold a liter or so of oil, with a little pressure applied when the breather cannot keep up. Admittedly I would warm up gently first time and ride locally for my first ride or 2. However someone before long will come along and tell me I am wrong...
  17. Does the boot still screw in? Was the metal liner just the crush washer? Maybe not j looking at the photo A more correct answer will follow, however if it will thread in gently…. You might get away with a new crush washer and some gasket sealant.
  18. My answer E10 unless I know the tanks not going to be emptied for a whilst or the fuels been in the bike for a whilst. Then they will get E5 as I work on same principle for my outboard. At a rough guess I would say more than a month or I consider a whilst.
  19. My answer is give it a break, and try starting it after a week to make sure your battery still holds charge. Others with much more knowledge will come along and say differently.
  20. For the Trophy I have in fact 3 screen, Small, medium and tall. However I have settled with the flip shown in the picture. The one to the left is a one of the stock screens. Screens seem so damed personal if you have the time and can spare £17 I would suggest you buy one of these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Motorcycle-Deflector-Windshield-Adjustable-Universal/dp/B07TWWKBSQ/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=Deflector+screen&qid=1702824227&sr=8-5 Try it, it might help you find the size you like before investing big bucks in a screen that you don’t like. If it’s like the trophy there is to much choice out there. If I recall I started on a similar screen to the one on the left, went tall and ended up with the one show.
  21. I put one of these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Motorcycle-Windscreen-Universal-Windshield-Transparent/dp/B07V23WDD1/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?keywords=Deflector+screen&qid=1702822789&sr=8-2-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&psc=1 On my Triumph Trophy, it then took a little whilst to find the right spot. Although it depends what you looking to achieve. Bigger screens don’t always make more comfort. Some wind is good for comfort even if colder, I ended up with short screen and flip on Trophy I keep meaning to sell the old big screen.
