Going to nominate me, did 500 miles on my Himalayan this weekend. Including some camping having installed heated grips, USB charging wireless charging for phone. Cheap heated grips didn't work, I had tested before fitting. I ordered some more (none cheap Chinese grips). Yesterday took tank of to change grips, I hadn't connected the negative wire for grips. Cheap Chinese grips still installed. Now have spare heated grips Biktech if anyone's interested.

My car gets about 38-50 depending if local runs or long run Trophy gets about 35-40mpg, or £40 a day. Its heavy and far too easy to go far to fast at 0200 across the forest. With police and animals hiding. This bike should be about 60-80mpg or £20 a day and it's used for commuting and as general run about.

Heathtech Thunder box cause it came recommended Among Enfield folk on FB. I have fitted relays historically but the do fail from time to time. Plus I was struggling for space. I figured why not try? As for witches it was the quote I got when warned about Satnav bars.

I wish it needs USB power, Healtech thunderbox ordered. Also working phone mount (Apparently some vibrate “like a witch on washing machine”) and rear pannier racks.

Now all mine, does what I wanted pulled me up the hills in M27 at 70mph with a bit left. Seems like a nice ride even after an hour 30 minutes of which was motorway. One bug so far is the indicator cancel is stiffer then I would like, I can live with that.
-
I have pondered one of these but I think first I need to practice standing, balance, clutch control. Might as well get the basics in the bag before spending money.

Riding techniques is probably where I am looking. The rest will happen, if I get into it and probably subjective.

Well today I scratched an itch, I went to look at a Himalayan. It was fairly local for down here, nice colour and sensible price. Rides nicely, couldn't test up hill at speed but seemed good for local riding. So we all know what happened next....

That is tempting, but it's finding one to sit on.

My trophy on a good day can do 45mpg but I have to be very kind to it. They are known to be thirsty beasties. 50 mpg is just a dream. Agree about power Mpg being a balance. 80 odd mpg would be nice above 50 maybe acceptable. The NX750 just doesn't do much for me. I know sensible bike and all but. Maybe I should go and look at one, they just don't make me want to ride. @Mississippi Bullfrog @bonio Part of the reason I am looking to move forward, parts (presently an oil cooler - partially responsible for me not riding to S France at moment) for the trophy are getting harder to find. I like a bike I can just ride and maintain. I also like a little fairing I do ride all year. Hence thinking basic Himalayan. Yes it would be top of budget at about 2k and a bit. @AstronautNinja @Tinkicker I had Burgman for a whilst, I know the advantages of scooters. However I would still like a bike not scooter. Please keep the ideas coming, maybe I should not if sold my TDM but that was getting old.

Presently I have 2. 1) Triumph Trophy 1200 Lovely bike great on distance great on touring. Poor fuel consumption and heavy. Not an every day bike. 2) CBR 125 Light Nice bike great fuel consumption, great for short runs (3-4 miles) struggles to maintain speed up hills pulling my weight. No storage capacity. Thinking of changing the 125cc To something that has storage and good fuel consumption. Not fussed about top speed but should pull my ass up a hill at 60-70. Most of the time will be used on A/B roads (or I would take trophy) and short runs 3-4 miles. Looking at low budget. Suggestions appreciated at the moment second hand Enfield Himalayan seems the direction I look. Maybe I should of kept my TDM900 but it just never really did it for me.

I might as well add another yachty rant. Having spent the "summer" on the boat down the west country it's time to head home. As I go east things are changing, yesterday when I arrived in port. I chatted with my neighbour's they asked where I had been? Normal boat chat, I said I had been on board for over 2 months there immediate response was "What on that?" Then followed by a comment we like dogs but people with dogs should be made to moor in a different area. The harbour master thought my dog was lovely, her barking let them know they had a boat going to fast!

Oh how i know that feeling. They rebuilt our local shell garage it now has more pumps and parking it takes longer to fill up, because they added a Waitrose. Here it is old people, appearing to do there weeks shopping whilst getting there weeks petrol, all £10 of it. Trying to remember how to put the card in the slot (no you don't swipe the magnetic strip any longer) then thier pin or paying cash (where do they get the cash the banks have closed down?). Only good thing is it keeps the attendants busy, last time in I put 10 lts of diesel in the car and 40 in to cans (for the boat green diesel is near enough the same prices as red in marinas and better quality*) plus another 10lts in petrol. Now there is another rant, having sailed about 150 miles I figure I should top up my diesel and petrol. I carry my 2 empty cans to the pump it's only 10 lts. No you have to bring the boat. So I have to start the engine go out of the Marina to change fender mooring ropes round and come back in again to fill these to cans? Then reverse the process to go back to my berth. Yes, they did offer to help, but could not come onboard and move lines and fenders or steer I had to do that. - I left without topping up. Sub rant over, for now.

My rant of a day is this a cycling or motorcycling forum. He says from a boat that is not a Gin palace and has not been near a tanker all day @S-Westerly

Except the other town is the place to live, second home owners with Range-rovers BMWS Teslas merc’s that don’t know how to park drive over blocking the pavements & car park streets etc. Standing around isles talking, the Tescos no longer sells the basics just Tesco’s best. It’s no longer a quick stop. We live in an ex council house with workmen and builders as neighbours. The difference between the towns is like night and day. House prices go up 20%+ between the 2 towns on streets back to back. They are the town that rejected having Argos on the high street as too lower class, recommending they have one in our town instead. We didn’t get an Argos they got a pound shop. When my daughter is with me some parents won’t let there kids come round because it’s not safe. Yet the statistics say something different. well I guess that’s my rant of the day!

Neither is mine, however the local sorting office is diabolical. Before when you bought a car and had to tax it at the post office the sorting office would refuse if you didn’t have insurance documents. So you had to buy the car wait a week for your insurance then go in and tax it. There was another post office that for new cars took a more lax view. During covid they refused any parcel for eBay as that obviously wasn’t essential. They reduced there hours shut down when ever they could. Even now they are rude and difficult. The downside is 1.5 miles away our little post office, during covid was open as normal. As word got round, very quickly it had ques outside. One for post office and one for the shop. The Tesco across the way also got busy, they learned our local shops are friendlier with better free car parking than the ones on the high street. Since covid our friendly local shops have stayed as busy as the ones on the high street.
