Today loaded up and 200 miles (4h45mins) by bike for the first time this year. How do I feel fresher then having been sat in the car for 5 hours? A little chilly across the moors, but then I hadn't wrapped up. At some point after this picture, my front right indicator stem decided to break. No known reason, I guess it will be insulating tape for going home

Good morning all, great news is 1 hour less on shift tonight

Having just read this I was thinking MT09 tracer, or V storm or NX 500. I went from FZ6 to Triumph trophy and weight wasn’t issue but if on budget I would avoid BMW. nice bikes they might be, but few owners don’t complain about ludicrous cost at one point or other. A Honda NX700 might be another option, if your on a budget watch the MPG using the bike a bit you notice the difference between a £15 day out and £30.

Presently selling my Trophy, my phone exploded with interest. Usual offers and about 5 potential buyers. Agreed viewing last night - mid day phone still going so marked as pending... Cannot decide if it was that he wasn't going to be able to haggle or making as pending that did it... Plus standard sheet no not breaking for parts, you buy complete or not at all... Oh well .. next viewing still pending.

They used to be fussy, style guide: https://www.gentlemansride.com/about/style-guide I pretty much got quoted by them this speiel: "DGR is about the classic styled motorcycling community, consisting of motorcycles that are either classic in age or in style. If you don't have a motorcycle that fits within the DGR Style Guide, you can borrow or rent a suitable motorcycle. If this is not possible and you’d still like to support the event, you can volunteer your time to help your local host, or make a donation." when I asked about my Triumph Trophy. I lost all interest after that. Now you see sports bikes and god knows what else riding in it. I think it's all about numbers, just tag along to the back so the photos look good...

However the other side to this is maintainence, how much would it of co cost to keep that bike up to standard to be worth 10k? How much could you actually ride it to keep that value?

Well maybe afew days ago I got click happy Not a named brand but quite predictably Temu special: This one… @. £22.89 What can I say after one days use…. No it won’t remove road grime, it will remove salt sand soil. It’s not going to remove road film, or bring the green out of your decking. However it’s unlikely to have, enough power to get to far into your electrics or bearings, The spray foam bottle gave a reasonable foam. As at this stage I normally give the foam a wipe, so it worked for me. Then it did a good job on the rinse. Of course a 240 jetwash is better, however 2 buckets of water will clean your bike if you don’t have power and a hose. Would a hose attachment with good water pressure be better maybe, you would use allot water. Would I buy a superdooper £150 version I would have to see one working.

Triumph Trophy 1200 As per pictures. £600 NO MOT 2 keys - log book Recently re chromed forks, recent exhausts, recent battery. Running rough - needs carbs cleaned. You will need a van or trailer to take her away. Sadly I don't have time. I have had this bike for near 10 years and she had been a lovely ride. Sadly change of circumstances and she is not being used. Time for her to get a home where she will be used.

I don't mind camping, last time was September. However I do camp basic... Tent, mattress, enough cooking equipment to boil a kettle, a can of curry and some rice (emergency use) breakfast bars, kenco 3 n 1 coffee and cuppa soups. Food is eaten from pubs, restaurants& cafes. If food /drink is to be eaten on site is bought locally.

So chatting with a friend, they where saying how they had the first Christmas menu crop up on there FB. I was like what the hell already… Then on my FB I got an invited: What the F*&k it’s March 281 days to Christmas. Ok set dates add them to the diary but please advertising requesting monies this early… I guess Easter should now be considered the first day of Christmas?

My bank recently stopped a payment as suspicious on me. I had to contact them , the information flow wasn't great. They thought the transaction was suspicious, as friends have pointed out, its understandable. Why would I be buying a sports orientated smart watch? I always try when buying online to split the payment a small amount to check it goes into right account. Then followed by the big amount, 1: security the seller has to tell me the exact amount. 2: seems to ease concerns at the bank?

Sit on as many bikes as you can you will soon work out what you like. Suzuki VanVan and cruiser style 125s tend to be low seat height. 125s can be a nightmare to find good ones are like hens teeth, hence the Chinese ones are so readily available. Much depends how long you plan on being on a 125 for. Bike gear for females is hell, you might find yourself going up 2 clothing sizes before you even start riding. Don’t be conned into buying the best of the best there is some good cheap mid range gear out there. Being female you will have lots of choice on EBay and Facebook, just don’t buy a second hand lid. Good luck with your CBT we expect you back to say how you got on. Don’t worry if you don’t make the grade first time, you will be joining the best of us.

The insurance issue can be the same for cars. However allot of young drivers start with insurance for a year or 2 on parents insurance. It’s just when the value of bike is relatively low it looks horrendous.

Anti fog lenses anyone??
onesea replied to daveinlim's topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
The issue I had with these treatments, they worked really well. Until they didn't, I found they would work however if overwhelmed by moisture you would steam up and it was a bugger to clear. Better not to use and have warning than find yourself fogged up suddenly. They might of improved but just a warning. -
As above with CBT, go on Facebook ask about local instructors/ schools. There is probably a local FB group that will advise. When it comes to gear don't get conned into a £400 lid. You can get good ones for £100-150 it's the fit that matters. The same with gloves £50 Jacket £150 or less, same with trousers. Boots £70ish Don't laugh at pushbike idea, it's all the same skills but different.

Is there a basic 3-4k New a2 bike that's attractive to youngsters? Under 400cc for tax purposes, cruiser style, sports bike and adventure style. Just on limit of A2 compliance. I think that would go a long way to keeping youth on bikes. All can be same engine for what it's worth. Oh and the legendary affordable progressive bike licence route. Address that bring electric bikes scooters, moncycles and other electric toys in the mix for licencing. Make them legal licenced and insured.

"Ending the year with a great December performance (1.57 million sales, +24.8%)" Motorbikes are still made and sold in large numbers just not in the UK. I am not looking through rose tinted glasses. The era you quote I was wearing nappies. I think my post is better summed up by me focus on Value for money and less focus on the best (often of the beast). My nearest bike shop cheapest lid £450 Great choice klim. Ask about other brands is just not good enough. Cheapest gear, no mention that is available and 1000's of people ride with other brands. It's just not good enough. Another local second hand bike shop said to me "come back when you can afford one of my bikes". I could afford all his bikes but it was my first bike and I wanted a 2k bike that I could drop without to many tears. Not a 7k pristine bike. How many parents/ youth get put of by that attitude. If the industry wants to survive they need to look within to hire to encourage people to the market, not price people out.

From the amount of bikes on the road today, I would say there is no shortage of people riding. The price of gear and bikes, there there is a compromise. When shops and dealers stop trying to sell everyone the most expensive (or profitable) or you will die. Then biking will become affordable, manufactures will look to making affordable mid-range bikes and gear. Bikes and gear can be affordable. You can buy a half decent lid for £100, boots for £70, jacket £100 and trousers £60. £2k will pick you up a reasonable second hand bike. £1.5k to £3k on the road. You might not be fashionable or FULLY vented or have the thinnest lightest super armour, you might get a little damp in heavy rain (how many really ride in that) but you will have a good amount of protection. Once hooked you will buy better gear, but start easy and build up. The biggest hurdle is the £1.5k for the licence, just because of the commitment.
