  1. Happy birthday mate. Hope it was a good one.
  2. Anyway, not completely plagiarised, as we had to get a new tyre today, which is a first. Becker of Bitburg had exactly the one we were after. What are the chances of that? All fitted by just after 11. One of the elderly gentlefolk who props up the bar in the evenings, tabbing for Germany, asked me throigh the cigarette fog if everything was OK. Sure, I said, we had a puncture this morning but this morning we got a new tyre. Yes, he said, from Becker of Bitburg. Great place, and they do good prices: other places will see a foreigner coming and charge accordingly. I think we must be the main show in town this week.
  3. It's the most sincere form of flattery.
  4. Ots worth running some insurance quotes through on line so you can see how much each of the different options you're considering would cost.

    Afternoon all

We call this place Hotel California. Welcome in.
  6. Today was puncture day.And then a trip to Bernkastel and Piesport. Can't put the Bernkastel pic in because Steve looks a bit 'special', so here's Piesport instead.
  7. Thats what I thought! Yes. Pizza. Sigh. But oday we raided Aldi and came back with wraps, salad and wine. Had a very enjoyable but totally knackering ride too. Just 140 miles. Every mile was 100% concentration or else come off. So we opted to concentrate. Top pic is our lunch stop. Bottom is the geyser at wallendorf
  8. Hi @BirdBoss. Hard to see exactly what roads you're taking through Suffolk and Norfolk... do you have a link so get a map we can zoom in on? Ta.
  9. I'm like an addict. Here's the scene today at Houfalize. Great riding all the way from Nassogne to the schloss. But two shocks for us. First, Daniela no longer does dinner on Tuesday, and second the guys at the Saray Grill are on holiday for the whole of May and Sunday Monday and Tuesday this week. What's a man supposed to do when the universe is like this?
  10. You've got better weather than here in northern France mate. Cold and windy and wet is it. Bleg.
  11. I clipped a cone on mod 1. First it rocked left, and then it went back upright, and then it rocked right and then back up again, and then it rocked left and fell over. Was gutted at the time, especially as I had mod 2 booked for a couple of hours later Once you've passed it, though, you never have to take it again.
  12. I know that feeling @peepae, and it's not a great one After three years riding the TV at standard height, I've had it lowered an inch. Now if I shift to the left I can get at least one foot flat down, and I feel a lot more confident stopping on uneven surfaces.
  13. My laptop's also too old for Windows 11, but I'm just going to keep going with Windows 10 for now and probably after it goes out of support too.
  14. Never ridden an RT but I'd like to give one a go sometime, just to get a feel of what they're like.
  15. You gazed into my inner self and wrote what you saw.
  16. That's the rub. It's hard to find anything to replace it. This is how I ended up with an MV - not really a cost-saving move.
  17. This is a great test. If they don't give you the promotion you're after, then, no matter how they spin the situation to you, you will know that in their rankings, you feature lower than the people they're giving them to. At that point you can move from exploring opportunities elsewhere, to being committed to exit the place. Depending on how bureaucratic your place is, you will know by the end of today, or two weeks absolute max.
  18. And fresh oil and filter for the engine would be a nice treat for it. The YBR is a popular bike so you'll probably find videos on YouTube for all these jobs. It's a great bike too... Good choice.
  19. Bikesafe is the programme run by the coppers. Not every constabulary runs them, and they aren't all identical, but the one I did in Cambridgeshire was excellent. It was free iirc. It's aimed at newish riders wanting to progress further; perhaps it might work well for you.

    Hello all

Welcome in mate. Hadn't expected to find you popping up here. See you Saturday.
  21. Nope, I'd never have guessed. What a great bike. Looks amazing. Bet it's a blast to ride too. You anywhere near Old Buckenham @Hoggs? Send me a message if you ever go along to the Tuesday night bash there; it'd be worth the journey to hear one in real life.
  22. Proof, as if it were needed, that all threads gravitate towards the venerable topic of biiscuits.
  23. As above. It's to make it easier to trickle charge for periods when the bike isn't being used.
  24. Congrats of the bike, and all the best with the ride home.
