  1. Mmm suspension. What shock ya got/waiting for? I've since realised I went down at Palmer's, not sure what speed but it's my first proper slide on tarmac, and then rolly rolly once I hit the grass, which buggered the shoulder a smidge. Leathers are worn in at least and don't look like I've only just taken the tag off any more. I've surveyed the bike damage, and thankfully it's not that exciting. Snapped clutch lever (which was clean/fresh on! At least this time I'd done it myself...) and knackered the plastic bar end, slightly encroaching on to the bar, phew. In fibreglass we trust, apparently! Scraped and upset but not buggered. Part of the rearset is all wobbly but I have the replacement now, and it was purchased on on a nice 'in person deal' basis, thanks SES man (I didn't have quite enough cash on me). Only one bit bent, the peg is straight but worn at the tip. Strong stuff this 6082 ally. I wonder what is the best way to bend it straight again though. Some helpful chap came to see me once I was kicked out of the medical center, he'd directed the bike recovery team to dump it in the right place and then advised gentle heating with a plumber's torch and to coat the part in margerine before doing so to help even heating. But also I have access to a kiln for heat treatment and annealing... Hmm. I don't know the magic temperatures though.
  2. Shit piss bugger. Gave it the beans in the wet and it didn't like it, it didn't like my pathetic thin sauce, pasty own brand beans. Time for a yoghurt. And then home But it turns out the good thing about Snetterton is that yer SES rearset man is 8 mins away. Another good thing is the corner I'm assuming is called bomb hole. I'm not sure which corner I came off of but it wasn't that lovely one. There's too many corners to remember, I'm still lost thinking about it.
  3. 31 quid! Snod thought I was ripped off at about 13 euros when we were away in the Germany and I managed to get one from a Dutch biker cafe with adjacent biker shop, which I thought was predominantly a clothes shop but crossing my fingers worked a charm. Can't beat a good faff and a rush job though. Also, at the end of the last session it started funderin and lighterning. But it's also sunny and hot, but still quite wet. Nearly dinner time.
  4. Driven it to Snetterton Park. That's right driven, on a trailer. No more track day plebbing about for me, riding it in like a numpty. Although a van would be even nicer. I have set up a tarp, it is sunny as owt now but it gonnnn rain
  5. Well my equipment was (re)battle tested last year in Wales but I still fancy getting a tent that isn't more tape than tent and maybe one that sets up with rain sheet first. Somehow I got away with it though.
  6. That can't be us then, nothing but prime metal
  7. Weren't you in vice city? Surely not a c100 and more PCJ600. Ahh my apologies that that was Kent Paul
  8. Too subtle for me, I don't get it. Please ruin the joke
  9. Ah yes ships I forgot about them. Rule Britannia! I think some rolling mills in Scotland are quite keen on HS2 being a thing as well, plenty of bridges to put up.
  10. Do you get any steel from Rotherham Rennie? I'm sure we make stuff for crankshafts and Caterpillar, though whether it's Caterpillar crankshafts I'm not sure. I'm also not sure whether there is anyone at work planning for what to do when nobody wants crankshafts and gearboxes anymore, it's already quite bad that currently nobody wants planes.
  11. Oooh Lembit Opik, what a cheeky boy!
  12. The next bit is vaguely more interesting. I need to repair the zorst, the bean tin repair had failed big time, with not much left to wrap another tin round. But I have got my trusty Aldi Arc Welder and some bits of stainless tube. Will it work? Will I just get distracted by pretty much anything and put it all back in the shed?... hmmm What a setup. It really beats working on the floor though. Also see pile of practice on the floor. Good afternoon fun. Aldi didn't have any stainless rods so I ebayed some.
  13. Still boring, but I have at least got the rear brake back together. New seals and pistons from Mr Silvers. Greased up seals Greased up pins New pin, nipple, and pads. Ready to go back on.
  14. Oof no. Half decent? Boat? Fugetabaatit. Maybe get the uninsulated ones to go with some heat shrink like wot husoi has linked to. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/393001128078 And a nice little crimper. I can't find the crimper I got, I think i got it from Newark bike jumble with some japanese bullet connectors. All I can see on eBay is stuff I'm not familiar with (ratchet crimpers - they might be fiiine, I just haven't had a go) apart from the pile of poo ones that come with or in those orrable blue/yellow/red plastic insulated terminal kits of horror, which personally I wouldn't bother with anymore. If nothing else they just feel horrible, and when I see them I get flashbacks of them just being shit. And on a boat? Might be ok to wire up yer beard trimmer if you plan on growing one out but I dunno about anything else, but I don't know boatage. I generally use them all over indescrimanantly, unsoldered but heat shrunk and slathered in a bit of grease.
  15. Nice. Road bikes on road tyres (bias plies?) just let loose
  16. If you've got a pod filter on already, leave it and play about with the carb. Pretty much any filter you'd replace it with is going to give similar issues because it's no longer got the restriction of the stock air box, which the carb is setup for. Have a look at this guide, see if it helps. https://www.caferacerwebshop.com/en/blogs/blog/how-to-rejet-your-cafe-racer-carburetor/
  17. Previous response maybe not much help but the notches will stop the plates from sliding nice ways, so when it gets bad it causes a sticky clutch I suppose. But I've never seen how bad it needs to be to become an issue so I'm still not much help. Buuut if the plates are in spec despite looking worn and the basket has notches like that then perhaps that's the problem and not the plates themselves. Sometimes they aren't that expensive at least.
  18. Ooh nice notches in yer clutch basket. Don't really want those. The pads are raised from new but not by much.
  19. But really, if you have a non standard air filter you will need to fanny about with the jetting. Not impossible.
  20. I dunno. I like the username. If you're having carb issues you probably want the stock airbox and filter on. Or just mess about with jets and mix screws until it gets better. And needle clip height. Other than that my preference is for these hepaflows
  21. Interesting. It does look like it's hanging low. Can you twist it back and push it back in? Maybe disconnecting or loosening the cable off too if it's a struggle. Oh man. How's that happened? Is there a saboteur about? I don't understand how it's falling out. I can't remember what goes on inside and I've put too many shelves up and had too many beers to concentrate.
  22. Halfords does list the sizes too which might sway you. Get yer ruler out. Bigger pack with sizes listed: https://www.halfords.com/tools/fuses-electricals-and-fixings/fixings/halfords-assorted-o-rings-929091.html
