  1. It was being told by a salesman in bikers world that I " Nothing in here is going to fit you " that inspired me to join Slimming World and lose 9 stone . Admittedly that was some time ago and I have put most of it back on again but it can be done .
  2. Great Bacon Rolls at Flossie's Beach Store , Clachtoll .
  3. Personally I wouldn't bother with the NC500 at all . I like to go up the B7076 ( See my previous posts on the subject . ) Through Glasgow and up Loch Lomond . Through Glen Coe to Fort William . Detour out to Mallaig and get the Skye Ferry or continue towards Inverness but veer off to the Kyle of Loch Alsh via Invermoriston . Then take in Eilean Donnan Castle before taking the Loch Carron road all the way to Ullapool . Then you are in breath taking scenery all the way up as far as Durness and beyond . From there you can wend your way back to Inverness via Lairg . After that it's back down loch Ness , back down Glen Coe and Loch Lomond and home . I reckon this route is more scenic and your not doing any boring bits just to get the T Shirt .
  4. If you look carefully you can see quite a few sunsets in this picture .
  5. If you need any advice about campsites food or petrol or anything NC500 related just let me know .
  6. Hang on there one second . The Ouse merges with the Trent to become the Humber . I'd call that the same river .
  7. Oh , ok then , I must have not looked too closely .
  8. Once you're past Glasgow and up into the Highlands proper , you could leave your luggage unattended anywhere . Obviously not in Fort William which is a bit of a cesspit . Just put all your real valuables in one easily removed bag .
  9. Find a bike that you like and join a FB group as a non participant just to get the feel for the subject . For me , the Honda CG 125 is the optimum choice for a first time rider . https://www.facebook.com/groups/cg125uksales/?ref=share
  10. Wang Gloves , ooooh .....
  11. It's on the same river isn't it ?
  12. No , I have a Facebook Friend and colourful character called Katie who rides a Shovelhead and lives on a boat near Goole .
  13. There's snow in Hull and from what I've just seen there should be snow in West Coventry about now .
  14. No starter motor I'm afraid but you're welcome to the blanking plates and camshaft . I believe they are interchangeable by repositioning the sprocket but I've got the other one somewhere .
  15. Ive got everything you need .
  16. I'm taking mine off this week . I'll try to show how it's done .
  17. I wouldn't tempt fate . If the exhaust studs that have stayed in are serviceable I would leave them well alone .
  18. The crankcase breather should have a pipe about two inches long and about three quarters of an inch in diameter that links it directly to the bottom of the air box . This is a rubbish design that allows the crankcase to fill with fuel in the event that the fuel tap and float valves fail at the same time . The breather pipe may still be knocking around your work area or sitting on top of the swinging arm .
  19. You could probably get away with only one bolt on the starter but it's not something I'd be too happy about .
  20. Its a wonderful thing to do but I can understand your reservations . There is a natural tendency for displaced persons to want to remain together for mutual support . Being isolated in a foreign land might have a negative impact on mental well-being .
  21. I reckon it's an Asperger's thing but I only like music that I can predict . Which is why I'm drawn to Blues and Boogie . Once you know what the structure of the song is you are free to absorb the details and the texture of the piece . To quote from Phoenix Nights when they attempted an alternative comedy night , " Tell us some jokes that we know ! "
  22. What a horrible dirge .
  23. Working my way through the wealth of unreleased Stones material that is becoming available . And then I found this gem . The most perfect , straight ahead boogie you could ever wish to hear . Ian Stewart on piano and Charlie Watts making it swing . Beautiful riding music .
  24. If this is the new CBT then my suspicions are confirmed . First the Road Tax , then the Clean Air Zones , Noise Detectors , Petrol prices and now this ! It's the end of an era chaps so get out there while you still can .
  25. All over by Christmas ?
