  1. If the gearbox is totaled this could be an option https://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/Honda-CG125-Engine-Bottom-end-Brazil/112568128427?hash=item1a359553ab:g:5RQAAOSwHpdZv7bn
  2. Have you tried running in gear on the paddock stand but with you sitting on the bike ? If the suspension was compressed there would be less friction on the rubber guide block . Also , have you removed the chain and flexed every link to ensure each one moves freely ? One issue with O ring chains is that the friction of the O rings can easily disguise a problem . In other words , a chain that is absolutely shagged can still seem to be in good condition because the rubber rings quieten it down . A good test is to lay it flat and see how far you can bend it into a curve but you will need a fresh rivet link to do this .
  3. I totally get every word , you have my greatest admiration . I have rebuilt 8 CG125s so if you need any technical advice please feel free to PM me . Unfortunately I don't have any of the parts you need but I'm sure you will get everything off eBay. Good luck.
  4. What model cg is it ? How come you're trying to fix it ? Surely your insurance company will declare it a write off especially if its been left running while laying on its side .
  5. Is that it ? The inside of the tank looks pristine, I wouldn't bother using tank sealer just for that , I assumed the tank was rusty throughout .
  6. Next time use a measuring jug . ( and then put in a splosh for good luck )
  7. .....yes, sounds really likely - to snap the ignition barrel, a "slide" would have to destroy most of the front end of the bike. Don't think so - seems as if there's been some sort of nickery going on here......just sayin' Nickery ? Are you suggesting jiggery pokery ?
  8. Was it you that tried to glue it back or was all that glue already there ?
  9. I've been listening to myself on the guitar , I'm a very slow learner , I'm tone deaf and I have dyspraxia but my basic blues E shuffle ( with turnaround ) has just crossed over into that magical realm where I actually enjoy listening to the sounds I make.
  10. Thanks for the replies, I'm definitely going to pursue this matter but I haven't worked out who to contact first. No names for legal reasons but the manufacturer is possibly the one most synonymous with the production of baked beanz . I see some of the leading No win,No fee companies do " Foreign object in food " I'll have to do some investigating as to how to achieve the most satisfactory outcome.
  11. The can was sealed and the contents didn't smell off , the thing is definitely organic . I will take the matter further but I'm still looking at where to start .
  12. ] I popped open a can of beans this morning for my breakfast . Before pouring them into the pan I like to slurp the excess sauce ( I live on my own so my standards are wonderfully low ) This morning, however , I felt something among the beans brush my lips that should not have been there. Recoiling in horror I looked down and this is the sight that greeted me ( see picture ) I've been feeling nauseous all day at the thought of it . Any suggestions as to what to do about this traumatic event would be most welcome. By the way, did I mention elsewhere that I am currently raising funds for a new bike ?
  13. It's a fine looking bike but not the model I've got my heart set on . Too much chrome for me .
  14. No. They only sell new and nearly new at official HD dealers , I just went for a look . I'm after a 2004 - 2006 XL 1200 R , its got all the features I want .
  15. Jolly good, I got that tyre fitted this morning, got told off for having very worn brake shoes so I ordered some off eBay while I was waiting. Went into Birmingham to look at Harleys then the heavens opened so now I'm stuck in Costa in a mega garden centre waiting for the rain to stop. Snow on Monday, I don't know why I bothered.
  16. Right with you on that one ! To quote Mr Boorman if memory serves me correctly " I'm on a train in India and whenever I look out the window everything I see is just .....India, how cool is that ? " A low point in television journalism that has always stuck in my mind . Alan Whicker must have been spinning in his grave .

    Choke cable?

Surely if its a new bike then the seller should fix it or replace it just like any other consumer product. If you try to fix it yourself you are letting the seller off the hook because they can now claim that you have caused the fault . If it was a new washing machine and it didn't work properly you wouldn't try to fix that .
  18. Pilot Street on mine too.
  19. I've got 3 different rust treatments in garage, I know one of them is really good, never remember which one though so normally end up doing it 3 times as for internal filter, being a £1300 new chinese bike I'm going to take a random guess it dont. ER5 is practically done just been a struggle with time lately, got a screen for it which went on the other week. What tyre was it? I just went with a pilot street on rear for mine. Got to take front wheel off again got the speedo pickup rotated wrong and it's got lugs on it so cant just loosen it and spin it round... typically it was last thing I went to connect! Doing the carb float needles seems to have sorted fueling issue, could have probably got away with a clean but tbh the lack of maintenance on the outside of bike is probably an indication of how well the internals have been looked after so thought may as well replace them for the sake of a few quid. Itching to get it on the road now. Whoa hang on , I wasn't talking about rust treatments I was talking about petrol tank sealer . Sorry, do these treatments tolerate long term exposure to petrol ? I somehow doubt it .
  20. Could be the better option, I've used this stuff in the past and it seemed to work ok , can't remember the brand though. Remember to remove the internal filter if there is one but I'm not sure how you plug the hole . How's the ER5 going ? I've got to get a new back tyre for mine , its got the weirdest wear pattern . It's gone wavy for want of a better word .
  21. Spot on by the way, took float chamber off again today ready for new gasket (managed to jiggle it off leaving carb on the bike) and was a tiny bit in bottom again so have it a prod and poke, sure enough it's water in there. So will get the tank drained and clean down the rust I can see then some fresh fuel. I wouldn't touch that rust at all . If you dislodge it you may never get it out of he tank because the filler hole has an internal neck that will prevent it falling out . Better to invest in a fuel filter.
  22. Errr........do you read Viz? Less it will yus ar arl bang ya heeds t'getha .
  23. I'm not sure about your particular carbs but is it possible that when you replaced the tops you either dislodged or forgot to replace the tiny little O rings that go around the vacuum gauge take off points ? It's easily done because they can stick to the carb tops and then fall off when you're handling them . The O ring is missing in this picture but you can see where it goes. I just happen to have a Mikuni carb as an ornament .
  24. Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought you detected air leaks by spraying Easy Start and if the revs go UP then there is an air leak .
