Mine certainly didn't but I had a mate whose dad did wear those and I wouldn't have put anything past him .

I did like it . Bigger , noisier , faster . What's not to like ? Well the front brake did feel a little wooden compared to the twin discs of the Roadster . But what you told me about relying exclusively on the front brake was a real eye opener and a testament to your ability to adapt your riding from one bike to another . I had always believed that single disc Harleys needed constant use of the back brake but now I'm not so sure . Anyway it was a very enjoyable Sunday even if I did get totally lost in Northamptonshire .

Looking back on things , I went one better ( or worse ) than a 125 . The first thing I rode , other than a bicycle was a Raliegh Wisp which is a true Moped . It didn't belong to me but I rode it around for hours . Ok , there was no clutch or gears to distract me but it was still a good introduction to self propelled two wheel locomotion .

A CG will not fall apart . I've bought and rebuilt nine of them and sold them on and nobody's ever brought one back with a complaint .

If you can get a decent , no frills Japanese bike like a CG 125 that looks a bit tatty , you could probably " Polish some money into it " to coin a phrase . In other words , if it looks a bit nicer than when you bought it , you might even make a few quid plus you might even learn a bit about mechanical maintenance .

Ever tried to ride the " Urban " section of the A6 through Greater Manchester ? It's like the old Coventry Road in Small Heath Birmingham except that it goes on and on and on seemingly without end . You've heard of miles per hour , well this is hours per mile . I won't be making the same mistake twice .

Just a light sprinkle . I've just got in . No real idea where I've been but it makes a refreshing change to be able to get lost occasionally .

Indeed , a most pleasant meeting . Cheers for the go on the Superglide Ian , that's given me plenty to think about . I didn't make it to Uppinghan but I'm not bothered because I had a great ride around the surrounding area . I could have had a look at my phone to see where I was but I just didn't want to stop riding . Coffees are on me next time .

I always take my fishing gear on my trips to Scotland . All I have is a telescopic all purpose rod , a fixed spool reel , a few packs of Mackerel Feathers , swivels and weights . I also take a pack of artificial worms and some lighter line in case I happen to find myself near a trout stream and there's nobody looking .

The reason I ask is that over the years I've met various aspiring bikers who have had a tough time of it doing basic training and nearly all of them haven't ridden a bicycle .
