  1. You really don't have any filter do you .
  2. Good morning . I drove a car , once .
  3. The free length of a spring which is permanently compressed when in use is neither here nor there as far as I can see .
  4. Thank you for reminding me .
  5. I've already got one that's fully fettled that I may sell later on in the year . I'm still toying with the idea of doing the NC 500 on it first . A £600 ER5 wouldn't have any profit in it and there's no challenge in fixing up a bike that is already roadworthy .
  6. Oh . Whatever colour is in the picture , I always receive orange .
  7. I know I'm always banging on about ER5's as a second bike or a step up bike from a 125 but have a look at this . A very capable motorcycle for a mere £600 . This is the sort of bargain I'm talking about .
  8. I thought this was a poem .
  9. The bike passed with an advisory on the front pads . I didn't see the guy's bike but we had a chat . It's a Harley Big Twin chopper with a 300 back tyre and very short pipes apparently . I replaced the pads this evening . Nice and easy , no issues .
  10. I actually did the second one . I decided to pass all the stationary cars in the queue for a Level Crossing . I wasn't going too fast but the last thing I expected was for the fourth car in to suddenly swing out in front of me . I went right down the side of the car wrecking all the body panels , crushed my foot and then went over the bars . Apologies to those who have heard this before . I picked up the bike before the pain arrived and shouted " I've only had this f*****g bike a week ! " To which the visibly shaken young lad in the car replied " I've only had this car an hour ! " We were both at fault . He should have looked in his mirror but why would he expect anything to be traveling towards a closed crossing on the wrong side of the road . I shouldn't really have overtaken the queue at all . The lesson here is an old one . Always expect the unexpected .
  11. The one I know is in the village of Bishop's Frome which I think is in Herefordshire or possibly Worcestershire . A 16th century Free House with log fires and great food . Run by a friend of a friend from Coventry .
  12. Which Green Dragon?
  13. Is Tim Stanley a member of this forum ? I prefer to form my own opinion rather than select an off the peg one from the internet .
  14. It's entirely a matter of perception . Just out of interest , what are these wonderful things that the " Powers that be " are stopping people doing ? And on the reverse side of the coin , what dreadful things are we being forced to do . And here's a thought , if the Government is controlling everybody , how come there is a crime wave of unprecedented proportions where drug dealers and other villains operate with total impunity to the extent that criminality has almost become fashionable ?
  15. That's right . It's the same with all these conspiracy theories that say " They want to control you " Why , for goodness sake ?
  16. I must have been looking at the wrong engine then . Sorry about that .
  17. You've got six friction plates and four springs .
  18. More plates usually . For example a GSXR 1100 has 10 friction plates whereas an ER5 only has 6 .
  19. I was actually agreeing with you but I could have put it a bit better .
  20. Bike looks like you're tickling it's bumhole .
  21. There is no WHY . Your just tapping into the general anxiety and paranoia of modern life . Nobody's trying to terrify anyone into subservience . A pandemic came along and we had to alter our behaviour to avoid the NHS being overwhelmed . Who else was supposed to tell us what to do other than the Central Government ? That's what elected Governments are for , to govern . The problem today is that mainly due to the internet and social media , every Tom , Dick and Harry with a chip on their shoulder suddenly thinks they are an expert in medicine , philosophy and politics .
  22. Well I'm glad I'm not the only one that's confused . If it were me I'd take all the clutch plates out again and inspect every one of them for warpage using the correct method . Once reassembled using copious amounts of oil , I'd put a zip tie around the clutch lever and with the bike in gear I'd wrestle the wheel around until I could see the inner and outer basket moving independently of each other . But all this seems pointless when the bike stalls when it's put into gear without lurching forward . Just out of interest , can anyone else with a reasonably sized four cylinder bike turn the back wheel by hand with the clutch pulled in ?
  23. But you wouldn't want the starter to turn it IN GEAR because if it fired up you could end up in a heap on the floor .
  24. I am so confused here . I thought it was the wheel that wouldn't turn in gear with the clutch lever pulled in . Then it was stalling in gear , now the starter isn't cranking . So how was it starting before then ?
  25. As anyone who has owned or ridden a British bike will tell you , you free the clutch practically every time you start it .
