  3. If I get the finish on the engine up to the standard of the last one it should look the bollocks .
  4. Everything loosely bolted up in case I misplace a bit . That's all the shit and filth , pine needles , rust , spiders and flakey paint dealt with and now that it's spotlessly clean and all the painting is done it's time to move the project indoors . Fitting the wiring loom is next up when the push-in clips arrive . I'm attempting to keep it as per the original and avoid putting Zip Ties around the frame . Those switchgear units that came with the £10 bars are way better than what was on it which had all the writing rubbed off . Just spent the evening bashing the rear brake lever back into shape .

    Hello

Another Harley . Let's be having a look then . Welcome to the forum .

Nor me . As long as both surfaces are clean I've just put the thing back in . I have been known to apply a smear of silicone sealant occasionally . No need now . Sportsters don't have sump plugs .
  7. good to hear that you are well on it's case Bob It's like a release of pent up frustration at having a Harley that is virtually maintenance free . Hydraulic Lifters , belt drive , oil in a tank and everything built to agricultural standards . Nothing worth getting the spanners out for .
  8. I've gone and done it again . I've bought a winter project and it's half finished in September . Setting aside the engine as a separate entity , all that's left to do is reinstall the wiring loom , change the fork seals , fettle the rear brake drum , rebuild the front caliper and find some decent shocks . Time to start looking in Blackberry bushes again .
  9. And all the better for it .
  10. I love an Allen Bolt me .

This is what I get when I search for it on CMSL
  14. channel 4 10 o clock tonight .. Grayson Perry's Big American Road Trip. he riding a psychedelic Harley across America. i say he , does he dress as a lady ? Something to watch on tv instead of naked girls dancing on the pc monitor He does . He's a heterosexual transvestite .
  15. I'm actually a great admirer of Grayson Perry . Just googled him as i have never heard of him until now, i actually do like the bike, it wouldn't fit through my gate though https://irontradernews.com/are-you-the-same-kind-of-biker-as-grayson/
  16. Have to agree! definitely a bike to show off one's rugged individualism I'm actually a great admirer of Grayson Perry .
  17. Lovely ride until you got to the Dam . I hate dams me .
  18. Favourite riding tunes ? Even if you don't use ear speakers , what's playing in your head ?

That makes you 102 years old . I would think it makes them 72? I missed the 30 years bit , sorry .

Hi......what do you class as "old"? Spit out the number my man! The higher the number.....the better I'll feel about myself! OK, I first saw the light of day thirty years after the end of the Great War. So please forgive any cock-ups I make here, I just getting used to it. .
  21. Had to Google that . At least I now know what HISS stands for .
  22. Related topic . Next time you're bored on the motorway , try doing simple mental arithmetic at 70 mph . I've tried and found myself to be utterly incapable of doing it . What this indicates to me is that the whole point of riding a bike is to give certain areas of the brain a day off while focusing exclusively on the moment that you're in . The only serious crash that I've had was caused by a combination of fatigue and the last thing I remember which was thinking ahead to where I was going to camp . I shouldn't have been thinking , I should have been doing . Apologies if this doesn't make a lot of sense but I've had a particularly grim day at the office.
  23. Does anyone make their own music by singing when they ride their bike ? I have been known to do so . At the moment I seem to be fixated on Silver Train by the Stones .
  24. I should know where picture one was taken but I can't quite place it . Is it Stonebridge Lane leading to Bascott ?
  25. In my experience , running rich and a poor spark can often produce the same symptoms . If you have the old Haynes manual it shows you how to make a spark tester from a bit of wood and two nails . What airbox set up are you using ? And have you done a compression test ?
