Have you just bought it off eBay as a project and is it a black and grey one ?

Thanks mate . Ironically , as you were writing that I was actually nudging our new member towards Face Book . I find that some model specific groups are really useful such as the ER5 and Sportster ones that I'm on .

Hello and welcome . I don't think anyone else on here actually owns a GPX 750 but I could be wrong . Although I enjoy sharing any technical advice that's within the scope of my experience and I am happy to assist where I can , I do think that you might be better served if you joined a FB group dedicated to your particular bike . But stick around because there's plenty more going on on this forum . https://www.facebook.com/groups/5539222262/?ref=share

  6. Anyone who knows or can offer some solutions That would be you, xtreme and fastbob once he's worked out why his bike is Rusty. It's not rusty anymore .
  7. Why is my bike all rusty ?
  8. And who will answer the questions.
  9. I would think it would attract more people to the forum knowing that there is a dedicated section for chinese bikes, one would think that people would be more inclined to post problems about their bikes without feeling intimidated or being shunned by other forums or groups, there is still a stigma attached to owning chinese bikes though it is on the decrease but still present in many online areas, and having such a section would help to reduce the stigma and bullying that it has acquired over the years Apart from the questionable quality of materials and the dubious styling of certain models , they are basically just bikes like any other . I've seen first hand the horrors of shoddy manufacturing that plagued Chinese bikes in the early nineties and their reputation was justly deserved but the other day I took the time to thoroughly examine a brand new Lexmoto and I could find very little to fault it . I think thev one thing that Chinese bike owners may have in common is that a disproportionate number of them are first time motorcyclists and consequently lack basic knowledge and experience . So why not sweep aside all notions that Chinese bikes are somehow different and just treat them as bikes . Let's face it , the future of motorcycling is looking pretty bleak as it is so the more people we can keep on two wheels , the better .
  10. Thanks for that .
  11. What bike ? Have you ridden in rain or jet washed it recently ?
  12. I don't know what one is either so I wouldn't worry about it .
  13. I used to dream of owning a Harley . Now I own a Harley. Don't dream too long because they're turning the petrol off in a few decades . There are loads of good Sportsters out there for as little as £4,000 but prices will rise now HD have stopped making them .
  14. You could bump a car backwards in reverse gear but not a bike surely ?
  15. Dosen't look any different but all the electrics are installed and connected up . Next time I take off a wiring loom I'll remember to take more photos ! Now I can turn my attention to the engine .
  16. Two Strokes just aren't my thing but I have heard of them unexpectedly running backwards . Perhaps this is a timing issue . You say the bike has no air filter so could it be that if it did you simply wouldn't know about the smoke ?

    Top Tip .

Top Tip . If you are stripping your bike and you come across a 10mm bolt that's rounded off don't despair . Just reach for a 3/8" socket from your Harley tool box or pop out and buy one . A quick bash with a hammer to get it on and a few taps with an Impact Driver attached and , hey presto ! The project marches onwards . ( 3/8 " is 9.525 mm )
  18. Firstly , how do you get the chain to come back up through the grill ? Secondly , there is obviously no non representative minority of the travelling community that gives the law abiding majority a bad reputation down your neck of the woods .
  19. What's actually wrong with your engine ? Given up is rather a vague description . Perhaps you only need to buy a top end or just a barrel and piston . I have noticed a trend of late for inexperienced riders to replace whole sub assembly's such as carbs and engine's without getting to the root of the problem .

    Greetings

Welcome to the forum . I'm intrigued , what caused the massive electrical surge ? I'm guessing Rec Reg failure .
  21. Put the wiring loom back on today . It looks a bit messy in places but that's pretty much now it goes .
  22. I really admire your courageous spirit . Many would have called it a day given what you have faced . Might be time to consider a more laid back style of bike . Dare I suggest a Harley Sportster .
  23. I'm looking forward to the temperature dropping and ice forming on the roads . This year I have decided to crash four times . I've already started buying up GPZ 500's and knee sliders . It's quite easy once you get the technique right . Just find an icy road and set aside all thoughts of self preservation and public safety while flicking the bike nonchalantly into a corner . Whoosh , scrape , bang ! Easy .
  24. I wouldn't worry about it . It might even handle a bit better .
  25. Can you get your knee down on ice though ? I got my knee down on ice once, quickly followed by my elbow, shoulder and then the rest of me. I came off on ice at the top of a railway bridge on a GS 850 . Me and the bike slid down the other side seemingly for ever and there was no damage to the bike and no injuries to myself . Probably because of the ice , ironically .
