  1. “Kennel cough” is a generic term for the symptoms and not strictly speaking an actual disease. The vaccine is aimed specifically at the Bacterial cause of the disease. If a dog has been vaccinated against this bacterium and then later develops classic kennel cough symptoms then…. It’s time to freak out and make an emergency appointment with a vet. Any decent vet would want to see that dog immediately. Same day.
  2. Now I remember why I'm not too bothered about a £20 vaccination.
  3. Kawasaki W800 for the classic retro look in a modern package at a good price and there are plenty of them below your budget. at your budget will buy you a late low miles 'minter'. I would advise against the herald. Even if you set aside a catastrophic loss of value just by buying one - its pretty certain you will have difficulty finding any reputable garage that will want to touch it when it needs a service. .
  4. No. Last years trip wasn’t cancelled, though in the event it was just me and I went on a recce to the Dolomites.
  5. Ive given up worrying about it, its completely out of our hands. We should know one way or the other by august, In fact I will leave off cancelling anything until the Governments involved make their decisions in august. If we can go to Germany then thats great, if we can only enter France. That'll be great too. If it doesn't happen this year then we will definitely be heading for the Austrian/Italian Alps (returning via the Black Forest) in 2022. or at least planning to do so. I shall move my tunnel crossings as well as my booking at the travelodge at Eureka once we know whats what. 3rd - 18th September next year.
  6. Nothing after 2017. and its probably that for the 5 years up to that date ABS was pretty much standard. pre 2010 it was mostly optional. (mostly)
  7. Now you just need the bike to match... and then copy the image by riding to the Dolomites. (Passo Giau) sorted. .
  8. Summer has arrived and early evening rides are becoming quite exciting. .
  9. "If the rings aren't forced against the walls soon enough, they'll use up the roughness before they fully seat. Once that happens there is no solution but to re hone the cylinders, install new rings and start over again." He makes it appear an inevitability. That explains why every bike Ive owned from new has had to have a premature rebore and why the internet is crammed with people complaining about new bikes with smoky exhausts and disappearing engine oil. Or maybe not.. as that has never happened to me. He forgets completely the other reason for running in a new motorcycle.. its not solely about the engine. Plonker. These armchair experts who think they know more than the engineers who actually designed and tested the engines, are a menace. .

Claiming over the first year should be an absolutely last resort as they will absolutely hammer you when it’s time for renewal. Clawing every penny back. You might even have problems finding an insurer as you will be considered a very bad risk.
  11. I followed the guidance in the owners manual. It wasn’t exactly complicated or particularly onerous.
  12. Vosges Mountains which are the western counterpart of the Black Forest mountains in France. So that depends on whether France is taken off the amber list and we can go without fear of an enforced quarantine on return. I’m hopeful that Germany will change their rules in the meantime. Still plenty of time and we should have a clearer idea of what’s possible by the end of July. If crossing to the continent proves to be impossible. Quarantine would make it impossible for me and everyone else. Then I wont bother with anything this year. Move my tunnel crossing to next year and my room at the Travelodge and look forward to Austria and the Italian Alps/Dolomites September 2022. .
  13. Yes it is.. but not popeye style straight from a can. cold. And apparently (as I remember from watching TV) thats the way you have to take it. Ah.. the education opportunities wasted during a misspent childhood. I always regret not modelling myself on the hooded claw. I could have done so much more. and be wearing a Blancpain. today. now.
  14. Hopefully, by the weekend I will be past my compulsion of constantly refreshing this page. .
  15. Its 2021. Not 1971. Surprise!!
  16. I wish I could do that.. but as it weighs 253kg, I might need to eat more spinach. (not a fan)
  17. Alpinestars hoodie... bit different. https://tinyurl.com/yjnmj7zg
  18. Bought a trackpad for the desktop and (when it arrives) the new one. SO much better than a mouse, wish I had done this years ago.
  19. I wasn't suggesting that YOU buy one. I was answering the very first line of the OP. "want to get him some nice new tools for his birthday for his GSXR, unsure of where to even start, these will be to do things like oil changes, basic maintenance" And as I own one of these ratchets and use it for basic maintenance... it seems sensible to me to recommend it. I have this really bad habit of taking questions literally and recommending things I own and use myself. (I only do basic maintenance) My tool kit.. excluding screwdrivers. My JIS drivers are on the bike and its raining. so.. call me a wimp,
  20. I suspect that despite appearances to the contrary that these are not 'made in Japan'. they could possibly be Chinese and repackaged (a tad disingenuously) in a box with Japanese text, and a Japanese name, then sold as budget alternatives for sale via amazon etc. Im already put off by this lack of info. not even one review on Amazon which itself is very odd. One thing I have noticed is that they are sold by Sinnis international. perhaps made for them.. 'somewhere'. I wouldn't bother.
  21. Not sure I see the point of your comment when I thought I clearly mentioned it was aimed at someone who had no tools at all. nothing. And wanted to start 'simple' with oil changes. chain adjustment and so on. (nothing 'awkward') Its not like smaller ratchets are an expensive purchase further down there line as and when they become a necessity. Obviously if I buy someone a gift and its unwanted then they can subsidise further purchases by putting it on eBay and watch it sell in minutes. Why should I care?
  22. Makes me wonder how they cope in France which presumably has always had the same compatibility issues. Go to any 24/7 petrol station, the unmanned card only type, which is the vast majority over there and you will not find any petrol aside from E10. (plus diesel). Interestingly the EU are, or were proposing a cut in crop-based ethanol usage, the % used isn fuel due to the adverse impact on food prices and deforestation in areas of the world where its seen as 'easy money'. A cut to a maximum 3.8%. (source Reuters)
  23. I was just thinking about gifts. If I knew someone who was on the cusp of building a tool set. let's say they had nothing at all. nowt. And this hypothetical person was someone I really liked and I wanted to get them off to a great start. what would I buy? Full tool sets are all very well, but in some circumstances they can be a mistake. why buy a full set when for years you might only use 1 or 2 sockets? maybe 1 or 2 spanners? A single JIS screwdriver. (which its unlikely to be included anyway). you have spent on a tool set that perhaps contains 100 individual pieces and only ever seem to use 4 of them. what would I buy this hypothetical person? I would buy them a ratchet. and not just any ratchet. the best. (I think) Buy them a ratchet and that means they needn't bother with full tool sets that include one (or two). For some people its better to build a tool set based on need. what do you actually need? For most bikes the beginnings are based around the most simple tasks. adjusting the chain. changing the oil. and so on. This Ratchet.. 1/2" version. https://tinyurl.com/4s8hyv4h Its a bit more than 'simply' a ratchet.
  24. This is something that has never happened to me so my guess its a result of either the design you are wearing or something to do with your head shape or nose profile. Perhaps worthwhile revisiting your optician. .
  25. Sadly they removed a lot of other maps a few years ago. fortunately i saved them first. Austria. Italy. Tuscany. Pyrenees, France.
