  1. hope you have a good day
  2. yeah i had a 75 S111 for seven years and it was as good a condition as the day i bought it when it went The older Landy's were brilliant, when it rained outside you used to get wet inside with mine, Drove a lot of S3's and defenders in the Army, the abuse they took, and kept going, was unreal.
  3. Nice car, the only Land Rover I've ever owned was an old Defender, drove like a tractor, "leaked like one as well", tend to expect it from the Defender though .... Hope it all goes ok for you
  4. I think you should go for the tiger 900or the versys 1000 though the ktm does look bloody nice I did like the tiger, good bike and a nice ride but I still got off it thinking “I’m not sure”. Not sure about the KTM, bit of a wild card for me but I’ll ride it and see. Whatever I opt for has got to be right for the daily commute as well as everything else ..... As I said the other day I think I need three or four bikes in the garage (I wish)
  5. Congratulations to everyone Bonio, good luck with the grandad duties
  6. Well, continuing my test ride on different bikes this weekend, so far I've test ridden a GS1250, Tracer900GT, Triumph Tiger 900 and tomorrow will see me astride of a KTM1050 ADV bike, not too sure about this one though, I'm also gonna have a blast on a Versys 1000, by next week I'll hopefully have made my mind up as to what I want .... He says!!
  7. Sidi is really good kit, I found I had to go a size up with my sidi boots, the same with Dainese leather trousers, one size up required, I think its an Italian thing....SBS are really good, if they don't fit they exchange with no quibble, nothing beats actually going to the shop and trying them on though, although I know that isn't always an option. I did find that Richa boots were very much a true size fit and definitely wider than sidi.
  8. I can only speak from my own experience of having one on my Tenere, I had a 50l top box, it was expensive, but this is what I found: Yes I could get two helmets in the box, however, worth bearing in mind that top boxes are easy to break into. I found that if riding solo with top box and panniers, especially at motorway speeds, the bike became a tad unstable, I later found that this can be a problem with certain bikes when riding with this configuration due to air movement around the bike. Top box was great if you ride with a pillion, it gives them something to lean against and makes them feel more secure. They're safer than riding with a back pack, ruck sacks have been known to exacerbate potential spinal injury if involved in an RTC, even more so if carrying hard items in the back pack. I personally would have another top box, I found it really useful and left it on the bike most of the time, above all else it was great for throwing stuff in that I picked up from the shop, and putting the items inside that I needed for work .... it kept everything dry as well.
  9. I can't find any of those markings in my jackets either, just had a look, these are the only safety standard markings I have....
  10. Cheers Manxie, I'm also thinking gear is king for this, I'll have to up my declared miles on the steed though The right gear will make a hell of a difference, I wasted a lot of money on Tatt before investing in some good clobber, it certainly made the whole experience a lot more bearable
  11. I could, I would be too afraid to ride it though for fear of "what's gonna fall of next"
  12. Used to do an 85 mile round trip commute when I lived in Leicester, great in the summer but not so much fun in the winter, especially as a bit of the journey was on minor B roads that never got gritted. I still commute now, 38 miles round trip though, "easy life". 150 miles is doable, good gear for the winter ride and plenty of ACF50, sorted
  13. I just love this bike, M1000RR, just a dream though, short of winning the lotto £30k + is far too rich for me, and I dread to think what the insurance would be, probably walk out of the brokers, eyes watering, like I'd just been kicked in the nuts....Bennetts review makes for a mouth watering read, certainly competition for Ducati.... https://www.bennetts.co.uk/bikesocial/news-and-views/news/2020/september/bmw-m1000rr-spec-price-photos?fbclid=IwAR3xEdnhlM1qwlMsNCuN9f5OaQLP6LRHDInbDWXSlonnPCraOl-shDazIXM
  14. I have a Tiger 900 GT. I’ve just done 600 miles so it’s going in for its first service next week. I absolutely love it. It looks and feels quality. It rides a dream. It’s fast, comfortable and offers a commanding view. The cruise control is lovely on the motorway, and the engine sounds great. Booked in this afternoon for a test ride on one, certainly looks nice, I've got to make sure it ticks all the boxes .... if that's at all possible
  15. The material feels quite robust, and it is certainly warm, i was getting a right sweat on when i tried on in the store, but that could have been down to the girl who helped me take it off Certainly sounds like what's needed for the winter ride .... and I mean the jacket not the girl
  16. Listen to music on long rides, especially boring trips down the M6, never had a problem, links to my mobile and Tom tom.
  17. Belated Happy Birthday, I hope it was an enjoyable one
  18. Yes I'd go with that logic as well ....
  19. The no bike thing will never last....I tried it once and lasted four months!! Once a biker always a biker "it's the way we're made"
  20. I wouldn't want one but they're certainly starting to look the part, even if the image is a BMW rip off
  21. Cheers Geofferz, I love the R1 and would go for one in a heartbeat, the missus wouldn't go anywhere near it though "a good thing some would say" tbh I really haven't made my mind up what to do, had a spin on my mates new BMW but that isn't for me, good bike, but to much for the day to day commute and run to the shops. I'm going to test ride a Triumph and a Tracer this week but I'm struggling to come up with something that I like that would be a good all rounder .... Daily commute, run to the shops, all year round riding, touring abroad and the odd weekend away, I think I just need to have two or three bikes in the garage
  22. 2020 BMW S 1000 RR lookalike. It’s actually a Chinese copy. Say hello to the Moto S450RR! The Chinese seem to be definitely upping their game....As far as styling goes at least.
  23. Have to agree with s-westerly, changing the end can didn't change my fuel consumption at all, it was exactly the same with the OEM exhaust.
  24. tbh. i don`t know .. only had mine 6 months ... lost any interest in them after that .... i don`t do winter roads .. got a transit for that take it you had an aftermarket exhaust ? have not done that in 20 years .. Unfortunately I have to do winter roads, had a few arse clenching moments, more so on the Autumnal leaf strewn roads than on the icy roads, in fairness the leaf strewn moments were probably my fault, sunny day and getting throttle happy I did put an aftermarket exhaust on yes, Akrapovic, it was only the end can though I never went down the road of a full decat .... And as for two up riding, 50% of my riding is two up, during the summer months anyway....
