  1. Ok I see what it is now .... I don’t think it really matters, I’d love to be able to lay mine up for the winter, what matters is that we’re all bikers, we all ride .... good enough for me
  2. Ahh ok, thanks for that .... I wish I had the luxury of just being able to do that
  3. OK I'm being thick here I know .... but what's a casual??
  4. happy birthday
  5. x 2 for Bennett's, Akrapovic exhaust and headers and nothing extra to pay on the insurance.
  6. I heard that on the radio - apparently we'd get 3000 "free" miles before we have to cough up. Option B is public transport. It would take 3 hours to get to work instead of 30 mins in the car. The first bus is 7:15, last bus is 17:22. Four hour days for me then! I agree, public transport doesn't help people who work shifts! Driving, in the not too distant future, will be something reserved for the rich.
  7. Shit! Seized shaft must have been an arse puckering moment! The first shaft drive I ever owned was a CX500, I locked the rear wheel up on the way home after collecting it, went down the gears to quick and learned the hard way how unforgiving shaft drives can be
  8. I owned a GSX1100F 1992 model for a while, engine was pretty sound and I never had any issues with the bike, I never had it for long though, I was changing bikes every six months back then, much to the disapproval of my wife That said, it's your 1st bike and we're going into winter, so maybe a good starter to help you get the feel of things. I think you could knock him down on the price a bit though??
  9. I found this to be an interesting watch, especially the bit about having servicing / repairs done by a non franchised dealer invalidating warranty. I was always under the impression that any qualified mechanic could work on your bike?? Apparently not, the rules apply to cars only, not bikes or vans.
  10. Ohhh i like the look of those. I hate mine. Would definitely recommend them, good bits of kit, originally, so I was told, made for track bikes.
  11. Do you have a link for those? The chain adjusters as opposed to grenades https://www.lightechuk.com
  12. Got these fitted, used them before and found them to be pretty good, makes adjusting the chain easier and more accurate. Really need to tidy my garage up though, job for this afternoon, about forty minutes and lot of foul language to find my torque wrench this morning, the garage looks like someone opened the door and threw a hand grenade in!
  13. A hitman it is then eh Yep, I did say something along those lines
  14. Got my first bike when I was 14, riding round the fields on my uncles farm, never been without a bike since. I've been lucky, past girlfriends and my wife have no issues with bikes, my wife used to ride a bike herself years ago, I remember giving her my old 250N Super dream when it came time for me to trade up. I do know where you're coming from with this though, a friend of mine has wanted to get back into biking for a few years now, its his wife stopping him, I was round there a few weeks ago winding her up and she said "he'll get another bike over my dead body"
  15. X2 for paraffin, works a treat, household heating oil does the same job
  16. I'm just about to do the winter prep, washed and cleaned today, tomorrow I'll pull it out of the garage, cover the wheels and brakes, take the seat off and spray with ACF50. I cover pretty much everything, including all the electrics and the plastics. Once I've sprayed it I leave it to seep in for ten or fifteen minutes then I go over it with a microfibre cloth to take of the excess. One decent coat of ACF see's me through the winter. Never had any problems with corrosion, quick hose off when I get in from the salty roads each time, job done. That said, I do have the luxury of a garage, I know that goes a long way in itself to keeping it rust free.
  17. I'm just about to change my tyres and am going on to Road 5's, if they're as good as the pilot 4's I'll be happy. Looks like I'll be getting plenty of wet weather to test them in
  18. I don't think anyone is going harshly on Bridgestone I think people are just giving opinions on their own personal experiences, which in this case hasn't been good .... The BT046 may be a better tyre, I've never used them so I can't comment. Michelins are my tyre of choice, they seem to suit my riding style and are pretty good for all year round riding
  19. I agree with the above comment. I had Battlax BT023 on my Tenere when I had it and experienced similar problems, I personally didn't think it was my riding style but a fault with the tyre. I've never had it happen with any other tyre, I use Michelins now. We're not the only ones to have experienced this issue, plenty of reviews on Google.
  20. You should try a fender extender on that front mudguard, I stuck one on my bike, goes a long way in helping keep the crap off the front of your bike
  21. I ride these sort of roads every day, there's one local farm in particular, notorious in the winter for dragging trailers out of muddy fields and covering the road in crap. There's been a couple of accidents but no action ever seems to be taken, as with most farm vehicles, the tractors he uses all seem to leak oil and diesel, I was down the road last week and could see oil all over the wet road, I did report it but don't know if it got cleaned up. I usually try and avoid the area but it isn't always possible. I was always under the impression that if they cover the road in shite they have to clean it up? I know they do at a nearby building site when the road is a mess, I regularly see the street cleaner there.
  22. Thanks Mike, I'm gonna give this a go, I've been using an old garden sprayer and it's crap! Going to try ordering one today
  23. They may not be .... but having tried numerous different types over the years I personally am finding that these are the best I've come across. I think it could be due to the tunable inserts which seem to make a massive difference.
  24. my goodness hope mrs manxie doesnt find out She knows .... I just get the rolled eyes look with the following threat of traumatic testicular removal She always says what she'll do so professionally being a nurse herself
