  1. I’ve fitted Bark Busters to my Speedtriple and feel they have had a significant positive effect on keeping my fingers warmer ( especially my thumbs) & dryer, allowing me to use thinner gloves for longer distances & for longer in the year. They are especially useful at higher speeds.
  2. H’mm Although setting the tools and parts on each side of the bike before starting would seem a good idea, in my own experience it leads to them being booted across the garage with small parts disappearing to the same place as the 10mm sockets & single socks!!
  3. Hiya Anyone used a Cerakote / Ceramic Exhaust Finish on motorcycle down pipes? If so, would you recommend it? & what might the rough cost be for a 4 cylinder bike? Thanks
  4. Not banned, but a sternly worded DM from Dant who used to moderate the MCN forum before it got closed down. I made some inappropriate comment about an MCN’s staffer’s likeness to a teletubby when in their cycle gear - The won’t say who as she’s still there Sh*t no, I mean they / them … I can’t get this pronoun stuff right at all.
  5. Been to both - Tebay are definitely the best, stopped at Gloucester once, the prices were astronomical even for a Motorway service station.
  6. On my 1 hour walk around Coventry streets today, it would seem that either none of the drivers are taking any notice of the new rules or they are ingnorant of them. 5 times in that hour I would have been strawberry jam if I’d stepped off the kerb when it was my right of way including one stream of 5 cars turning into the road I was trying to cross - there could be no doubt that I was trying to cross as I was in the centre refuge. Wonder how long it will take to sink in?
  7. I test rode a Firebolt, I found it cramped even compared to my GSXR750 at the time. Handling was great. Worst bit was constantly hitting the rev limiter as it was considerably lower than the Gixxer, not something you want to happen when performing a cheeky squeaky overtake !!
  8. Got the link from a mate ( I do have 1 or 2 at a push ) so already signed
  9. Happy Birthday, hope work doesn’t get in the way too much
  10. Fair enough
  11. A bus from Earlsdon to Cov station … and you call other people lazy
  12. Marmite is a veggie & yeast extract with more salt than is good for you. Bovril is a beef extract with even more salt than Marmite.
  13. But Marmite as a drink is lovely. Used to have it as a kid on cold days & forgotten what it was like. Just came in from a brisk cold walk & made this mug of loveliness - heaped teaspoon of Marmite & boiling water - delicious !! Why this has never had a mention on any adventure motorcycle material beats me.
  14. What’s the charity & how can we sponsor if we wish to ?
  15. With a compression gauge screwed into the spark plug socket & turning it over by hand with a socket on the end of the crank … which in retrospect is a plainly stupid idea at the slow turn gives time for the air to escape past the rings,
  16. Latest update & question New cam chain tensioner spring fitted. Now to check the clearance between the cam lobes & the shims. When the company that did the machine work said they took 4thou off the top of the valve stems to compensate for the material taken off when the head was skimmed so I could use the old shims - which seemed odd, maybe I miss heard & they meant that it was to compensate for the material removed when they cut the valve seats which would make more sense…. Anyway despite what they said all the clearances had closed up so a lot of new shims were required, some of the gaps were so tight so couldn’t get a 0.04 mm gauge in, which was the smallest I’d got so a new set of feeler gauges were bought & finally all the gaps are now within tolerance. The question I’ve got is whether it is any use doing a compression test at this stage … if so then I’m in the sh*t (again) as there’s hardly any compression at the moment!!
