  1. None oozed out at all.
  2. Liners fitted - gently tapped in place with a rubber mallet. Thats it for a week or so as we’re off down to Newquay on holibobs
  3. So following @fastbob ‘s advice, I’ve reduced the size of the beads of blue Hylomar.
  4. And the wet line all up your back - Bourne out of experience !! Best fit a hugger at the same time.
  5. Thanks, it did say “smooth it off”, maybe it’s squished out as I smoothed it out. I’ll try & take some off tomorrow ( can you do that once it’s cured? ) or do I need to start over? Always ready to take advice from someone who’s already got the T-shirt
  6. You reckon I’ve over done it? Haynes manual doesn’t say how big a bead to use.
  7. So take off the masking tape without buggering up the paint at the edges. Liner mating faces inside of crankcase cleaned up Assembly lube smeared on gudgeon pin, cloth stuffed into crankcase to prevent errant circlips pinging off in to oblivion. 1st piston fitted - circlips are a pain as they are just plain hoops without anyway of gripping them to compress !! All 4 fitted - not a quick job !! Liners with bead of Blue Hylomar on mating faces left to cure. Maybe fit the liners tomorrow.
  8. Happy birthday, ‘av a good ‘un

    How much?

I had smart meters fitted by Scottish Power in January 2020 & despite countless emails & phone calls, they still can’t get a remote reading & keep insisting on meter readings -I eventually spat my dummy & went to the Ombudsman 6 months ago, SP have now made an appointment for this Friday to have someone come out & look at them - we will see WTF happens… if you see a hostage situation in Cov crop up on the news you’ll know they couldn’t sort it !! Ombudsman says SP have got to give me £100 compo, yet to see it !!
  10. Right, post COVID but still feeling grotty I’ve measured the installed end gaps of the new piston rings ( all good ) & fitted them to the pistons, ensuring they are the correct way up & the gaps on the correct orientation. e.g. Next up will be fitting them to con rods & then fitting the liners.
  11. No more sweats, less coughing, still bunged up & feeling weak, but we feel we are over the worst - also had a negative lateral flow test. Thanks for asking.
  12. Thanks to COVID, everything tastes f*cking bland at the moment, no sense of smell or taste …. Still !!
  13. Haha, a bloody V Twin? I think not !! mind you, that could be why he never made the curve
  14. Absolutely disgusting, raise a petition, get out the pitch forks & light the torches, you never signed up to that kind of behaviour when you moved to the tranquility of the countryside !!
  15. Erm …. Try which one? Any clues? A link would be helpful I’ve been thinking I should carry one as the Speedtriple seems really sensitive to low tyre pressure, just a couple of psi down can make a difference & 4 psi down at the rear can make it feel really dodgy.
  16. Yep, think There was one about a CB750, came up as a recommendation, but I didn’t bother watching it, along with all the “I bought the cheapest bike on Amazon” & “I bought the cheapest bike I could find & rode 2000 miles home” bollox !!
  17. I think we’re a long way from the old UJM’s much more (reliable) variety these days
  18. The weatherys great & Supposed to have been at the Stafford Classic Bike show today, but started feeling shit on Thursday & tested positive for Covid yesterday - got a high temp, headache & cough, Missus Mickly’s got the same but has also lost her sense of taste & smell, pretty convinced we caught it off 12yo granddaughter who we child mind, she has mild symptoms & tested positive on Friday!! Talk about being pissed off
  19. Happy burp day
  20. Our local Tesco’s says that when the E5 runs out at the distribution centre they won’t be stocking any more, local Morrisons has already stopped selling E5. Wonder if this is going to happen everywhere?
  21. Absolutely, especially as the valve seats have been recut.
  22. Set out all the bits ready to assemble pistons & Liners to the engine. Oh … Best stop this tomfoolery immediately Shiney piston with grooves & oil holes cleaned out Top liner face dressed with 1200 grit wet & dry to ensure there’s no tracks across the face. Liner to block mating face cleaned of all detritus. Now to measure the piston ring end gaps of the new pistons … but probably about to be called away for another domestic ‘emergency’
