1. Lovely, and the bike looks great
2. Interesting. I have Ironhead end cans on my Thruxton (manufactured in Spain by Ixil) which, according to the Squaredeals website, are approved to European standards with the baffles installed. They bear the marking E9 04615 G / E9 04616 G so I wonder if that makes them UK street legal?
3. Would it be street legal if you bought/installed the OEM baffle, or do exhausts have to be homologated in some way to achieve that status?
4. Out on the bike today with a guy that follows me on YouTube; another Triumph rider, we're off to sample the culinary delights of The Original Tea Hut in Epping Forest. I was musing about the bike, and riding, last night whilst chatting to my other half. Month after month of shielding (as a type 2 diabetic), a business that's all but collapsed whilst falling through the gaps of any government support, another series of lockdowns on the cards, Brexit looming after what will no doubt be a somewhat surreal Christmas, a new granddaughter overseas that I can't even get to see (and probably won't for months yet)... I genuinely think that biking has kept me sane this year and I don't know what I'd do without it.
5. Is it a Casio model for which you can get NATO adapters (assuming you mean a G Shock)? If so, the adapters plus a short Velcro strip that you can feed through the spring bars.
6. Oh, hey! Thanks Caroline!
7. Posted a little 500-mile review of the thruxton, for anyone bored. I mean interested.
8. Sound check!
9. Kudos to fastbob for starting this thread, and it's really good to see people prepared to open up and share their thoughts/troubles with everyone on here. I'm not going to say that I haven't been impacted by this horrible pandemic (my business has all but collapsed and I've had zero income this year), nor that I've escaped hardship in earlier times. However, I'm still around, I have my bike and Spurs are going to win the Premiership title this season... it could be worse (I also have a wife who loves me, and children who do as well. I even have a new granddaughter in NYC, not that I've been able to meet her yet!) Anyway, thoughts are with everyone in these difficult times.
10. A bit of ...
11. There's winter riding, and there's winter riding. Once it gets cold enough for ice/black ice the bike stays where it is; otherwise there's plenty pof good gear to keep you warm, plus heated grips/gloves, etc. One thing I'd recommend is giving your bike a good ACF-50 treatment, though. They do like rust, and if you don't protect them...

13. Got a nice little ride planned for Saturday, from Shenley out to Ivinghoe Beacon, and then on to the Green Dragon in Flaunden for lunch. My Thruxton will be accompanied by a CCM Flat Tracker, an R9T Sport and two other Triumphs - a Street Scrambler and a Street Twin. Really looking forward to it!
14. Looks very nice ^^^ Got a phone mount installed on mine today
15. Well, having swapped over the stock Thruxton headstock nut for one with a hole in the middle, I just fitted the Quadlock fork stem mount together with the vibration dampener. It's a bit bulky because of the additional mass of the dampener, but all in all it's a good solution (and one that I need to be fitted, whatever the aesthetic impact).
16. Just for others’ benefit really, but all was fine with the plug left connected
17. Hi all - my Bike is going in for a service later today, and I have a booster plug fitted. Given that the technician I just spoke to on the phone doesn't appear to know what I'm talking about, should I be asking them to disconnect the plug for the service and then reconnect it afterwards, or will it not matter so far as diagnostics are concerned?
18. If you’re not going to use it what did you make such a fuss for?
19. Nasty business, but well done on getting that first ride out of the way. Hope you recover fully.
20. Have you thought installing about heated grips? I think they're an absolute godsend and they give you a bit more flexibility with regard to winter glove choices.
21. are those rims alloy they look really well and finish the bike off Yes, the stock rims are spoked alloys. The only thing I'd change if I could would be to go tubeless, but I don't fancy the kits and it's not worth spending money on new wheels just for that reason (for example, a set from Kineo would be about £2600).
22. Gorgeous machine enjoy Thanks both!
23. It's really not worth getting in a rage over - just get the dampener and move on. (Or don't, and don't mount your phone on the bike - just use it in your pocket without the visual aid.)
24. Nobody does "heritage" like triumph.
