Another abandoned Spanish village: Moralejo de Arriba
learningtofly replied to a topic in Ride Reports and Pictures
Incredible. I wonder if it could be used as "unofficial" temporary accommodation (instead of a tent!)? -
Well, I thought I should update this thread as - for a good while, at least - I'm finished with the mods. Some Oberon performance bar ends went on today as well as a Sargent seat pod, and all I really want to do now is upgrade the rear shock; however, I'll probably try to get a good summer of riding in first and then make a decision. I've also decided to keep the rear subframe on, at least until after a weekend trip planned for May. It was disappointing to learn that the bike without the subframe will only take 8kg of luggage on the rear seat, and I don't really want to faff of removing/replacing it repeatedly. Anyway, the aggregated list of mods now looks as follows (I'm far too scared to add up what I've spent): • BMW DWA alarm system • BMW heated grips • Custom black/orange Scrambler seat • Dart windshield • Evotech oil cooler guard • MachineArt X Heads engine covers • Oberon Performance bar end mirrors • Puig front fender extender • Puig rear hugger • R&G tail tidy • Rizoma fork sliders • Rizoma swing arm license plate holder • Sargent seat pod • Unit Garage rear rack (removed for now) • Unit Garage slip-on exhaust • V-Trec brake and clutch levers • Wunderlich sidestand extender • Wunderlich tank pad set A few photos...

Testing the new GoPro on a Ducati Scrambler Cafe Racer

That looks very good. Were you wearing the chest harness, and if so how much of a faff is it? -
Mod 2 question

Great stuff - it's a wonderful feeling (and relief)! -
You don't have to pick your post up - they'll deliver it to you.

I use a PO box for my business address, having formerly spent unnecessarily on a virtual office that provided no tangible benefits whatsoever. Works very well for my needs, and I pay about £300 p.a. instead of 4 times that for the virtual office.

Why anyone would moan at a company striving to reduce its use of plastics is beyond me. Have you actually seen what were doing to the world's oceans, and the effect it's having on their inhabitants?

Earplugs and comms
learningtofly replied to Jerry1111's topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
Given the above responses, I'm puzzled. I use a Sena 10C Pro and can barely hear it at all when using earplugs. Admittedly my bike is pretty load but even so it's been very disappointing. (I should add that I can hear the Sena's own audio (e.g. setting acknowledgements) more clearly than GPS audio from my phone. -
Too many to list. All pale into insignificance compared to the joy of being on two wheels. Merry Christmas, you lot

It's probably because you junked on it. I'll get me coat

Camera mountings
learningtofly replied to Mississippi Bullfrog's topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
Depends what you're using. I have a Sena which mounts flush onto the side of the helmet in a very unobtrusive way. I specifically avoided a GoPro because of the helmet mounting system and the risks associated with it. (And I'd certainly NEVER consider mounting anything on the top of a helmet). If I were to buy a GoPro in the future I'd go for the chest harness, I think. What are the risks, I assume you mean that a chin mount isn't great if you had a face first impact? I'd guess it would snap or shear off the camera. How is a side mount any better It’s not so much the chin mount issue, it’s more that the GoPro mounts have potential to cause harm in an off. That’s where the Sena system is superior as there’s nothing that could do you damage, -

Spot on, Bob, it's the best system IMO.

I have a couple of pairs of superb quality and lightly worn boots in size 42/8 that are now surplus to requirements. Both are in completely undamaged/unscuffed condition and in reality have seen very little road action as I've gravitated towards some old Diesel boots instead. Please note that if someone wants the two pairs I'll discount the combined cost by 10%. First up is a pair of TCX Vibe waterproof boots in black, which you can see at Superbikeshop here. Suede leather construction with Air Tech fabric panels for breathability Padded upper collar for increased comfort Reflex insert on the heel Waterproof internal lining Malleolus inserts and PVC micro-injected ankle guard on both sides Bycast leather shift pad Speed lacing system and Velcro band with micro-injected insert Anatomic and replaceable footbed High performance rubber sole designed to offer superior grip and stability These are really lovely boots both on and off the bike, and I'd like £80 delivered. Next is a pair of Alpinestars Ridge V2 Drystar boots, again in black, and this time more bike-oriented than the TCX. Superbikeshop has them here. Hard wearing microfibre construction Front and rear flex zones for enhanced comfort Hook and loop retention with the zip closure system TPU injected shift pad for added durability Waterproof and breathable Drystar membrane Ergonomic shape for long-lasting comfort Double layer reinforced shin plating Dual-density complete ankle protection Contoured midsole follows the shape of the foot Anatomic EVA foam foot-bed for comfort Vulcanised rubber sole for enhanced grip Another great pair of boots (they fit easily inside straight leg jeans, by the way), for which I'd like £90. This is a UK sale, and the cost includes the normal tracked and insured delivery. Remember it's 10% off for the two pairs as well.

Xjr1200 cafe racer For Sale
learningtofly replied to Justarn's topic in For Sale and Wanted - Motorbike related
Good decision - that did sound like a lot of bike for the money -
I was just having a browse of readers bikes, and realised I never updated mine given that I bought my 9T back in May. Anyway, this is what it looks like at the moment - aside from the non-standard paint job it has one or two additions/farkles on it... BMW Burnt Orange/Burnt Orange Flake paintwork on tank and front fender. Modified with the following components: Unit Garage slip-on exhaust Custom black/orange Scrambler seat MachineArt X Heads engine covers V-Trec brake and clutch levers Unit Garage rear rack Rizoma swing arm license plate holder Puig bar end mirrors Wunderlich front fender extender Rizoma fork sliders Wunderlich Xtreme rear mudguard Evotech oil cooler guard Wunderlich sidestand extender Dart windshield Anyway, here it is in various states of development, the first photo being the current state of play (albeit without the custom seat fitted):

Oaky, I know you've been waiting for part 2 -
Just reinstated mine to go with my orange bike. Not been around much of late, and didn't even realise that it had expired!
