  1. Not been around much of late (other stuff going on) but after 18 months or so with a BMW R9T I finally concluded that - lovely bike though it is - its not a Trumpet. Anyway, I've just picked up a very nice Thruxton 1200R in its place... it dates from December 2016 but it only has 2,600 miles on the clock and a host of mods including: Triumph LED indicators R&G tail tidy Weslake decat X-Pipe Weslake anodised bashplate Ironhead OVC11SS slip-on silencers Triumph tank/knee pads Motone Customs Union Jack carb/throttle body covers Booster plug Sounds amazing decatted and with the x-pipe & end cans fitted... here's a little sound clip that the seller recorded. Should keep the neighbours on their toes, anyway decat Have a great Sunday, everyone.
  2. Yeah, the Street twin's probably not the best of shouts. The Street Triple is, though - I went from one to the other and couldn't believe how light the triple was in comparison.
  3. Oh dear - sorry to read about this awful situation, James. Best of luck, mate.
  4. Very nice - glad you're on two wheels agin. Well, four wheels.
  5. This Henty Wingman (which I have) is about as good as it gets for carrying a change of clothing with you. Not sure what the solution is once you start adding lever arch files, etc, unless you carry those in a topbox or similar. https://henty.cc/shop/wingman-backpack/
  6. Oh, missed this for my last purchase, but great move, Stu - best retailer I've ever used by a country mile.
  7. No, the suspension is still stock, so fairly basic Sachs upside down forks (I believe they're the S1000RR forks without adjustment capabilities). I'm actually tempted to install some Andreani cartridges on the front and a Nitron or Wilburs shock on the back but funds are tight now for obvious reasons. That sounds a sensible upgrade without going mad and going down the Ohlins route as I am convinced the improvement with cartridges and Nitron would be noticeable and I am not sure if the extra improvement of the Ohlins could be felt on the road by mortals. I have an Ohlins shock on one of the Busas and to be honest I don't think it is that much better than the other one. (that wont stop me transferring it over if I decide to sell it though lol). Cheers Ian Yes, with you on that, Ian (if money were no object, though...). I do think BMW skimped on the stock set-up but I imagine I give the bike a relatively easy time so have more of a problem with jarring over bumps than I do as a consequence of hard braking.
  8. Done (bast*rds)!
  9. Sorry for the confusion - I had only just fitted the covers, and its a mix of before and after shots So are the RWU forks on there now? Telelever set up or conventional? Cheers Ian No, the suspension is still stock, so fairly basic Sachs upside down forks (I believe they're the S1000RR forks without adjustment capabilities). I'm actually tempted to install some Andreani cartridges on the front and a Nitron or Wilburs shock on the back but funds are tight now for obvious reasons.
  10. I reckon I could get about 160 out of mine with a tailwind, but bottle it at anything over 120 and head for the nearest petrol station. I can only dream of 200+ miles on a single tank
  11. Looks to me as if an upside down front end has found its way on there. Cheers Ian Sorry for the confusion - I had only just fitted the covers, and its a mix of before and after shots
  12. The forks change colour. Did I miss something? Yes. I fitted some neoprene fork covers
  13. Just to say... great forum for advice, etc.
  14. Cheers Ian. Here's a few more recent ones. Well, you did ask
  15. It does look like a regular YouTube URL, but I think I'll give it a miss
  16. Hope you guys are all doing okay in the current climate... not been here for a while but feeling the effects of the social distancing and not getting much time on the bike as a consequence. Stay safe, everyone. Anyway, added a couple more trinkets to Tangerine Dream, in the shape of a headlight grill and a set of neoprene fork covers (both from Unit Garage)... May as well pop up a couple of recent photos whilst I'm here as well (the first taken whilst out with my son)
  17. Some good trivia there if it ever gets asked in a pub quiz One of my specialist subjects is 60's/70's music! Did you know that Debbie Harry f@cked Hendrix when she was a groupie? And that Hendrix was once the support act for the Monkees? I know loads of useless shit like that! Don't you EVER talk about Debbie like that!!!
  18. My vote goes to gear oil. Cheap, easy to apply and very effective.
  19. Very nice indeed
  20. Haha... yeah, you’re not wrong. I do ride through the year, but have to admit I’m looking forward to some decent weather, Geoff!
  21. Cheers for that!
  22. Thanks Stu - appreciated, mate. Just needs some forum stickers
  23. Two for me. Firstly, Superbikeshop... I'm sure they'll have been mentioned before, but for me they're the ultimate retailer in terms of service and pricing. Secondly, Pier City Custom for all things R9T; they're based near Brighton, and are both hugely knowledgable and very, very helpful.
  24. Thanks Stu - appreciated, mate.
