  1. Hah! You're so right about this... I recall walking into a pub in Thirsk with some mates, and a literally everyone stopped talking and just stared at us. It went on too long for comfort
  2. That's piqued my interest, actually. Having been together for so long (I assume, but correct me if I'm wrong), did you find that something changed when you got married?
  3. That's a lovely machine, with a seemingly brilliant chip. Enjoy!
  4. I spent the night with sisters once, when I lived up in Norwich. Not something I'm likely to forget
  5. Third time lucky for me. I messed up first time around, karma (a bitch) found me second time around and now I'm very happy with my lovely Cuban after about 13 years.
  6. Well done. Now just be careful out there - wet leaves, mud, rain and worse all mean you have to have your wits about you and ride in accordance with the conditions.
  7. No bad thing IMO (the highlighted bit).
  8. me too! Just had a big bowl and am now getting ready for a ride
  9. Well, this demonstrates how subjective these things are, because to me the Husky is a lot nicer. kTM doesn’t do it for everyone, which is just as well as there wouldn’t be enough to go round Anyway, isn’t Husqvarna owned by KTM these days?
  10. I've had attempts recently in the name of Microsoft (online), Amazon (telephone), HMRC (telephone) and Hoka (online). I stupidly allowed myself to be taken in by the Hoka example but luckily my bank were already on the case.
  11. I've been hit once when filtering, by an idiot who, as I pulled level with him, decided to turn right without any mirror-checking or indication. Being heard can be a lifesaver in city riding, there's absolutely no question about it.
  12. That passed me by when shown as a concept, but it's a beautiful looking thing. Sadly, though, being a Husky and with those large wheels, it'll be too tall for me to even consider when it is finally released If it really will be the lightest in it's class then that KTM 890 motor will make it a hoot to ride.
  13. Just a few more of recently departed bikes... nothing really to say in respect of locations, but they came out nicely enough anyway.
  14. Here's a couple of my 2016 Thruxton R, taken in the grounds of the Luton Hoo Hotel shortly after buying it unseen from a private seller in Shrewsbury. I'm a Triumph man at heart but had been riding an R9T for about 18 months prior to buying this, so it was a welcome return for me. I picked this up with just 2500 miles on the clock too and some tasty mods, the most notable of which were a Weslake decat x-pipe and a couple of Ironhead OVC11SS slip-on silencers.
  15. Plus they price match -10%, including discounted prices. I was down there a couple of days ago, actually, and snagged a £350 helmet for £250 as a consequence of the above.
  16. Morning. NLD today and the butterflies have started
  17. No, there was definitely some sneerage but if I go on beating my head against the wall I’ll just end up with a sore head. Better to watch Strictly, given that the football doesn’t seem to be an option.
  18. Yes, I’ve got no issue with that. However, I nearly killed myself in my younger days taking a bend too fast for my pitiful attempts at leaning the bike to accommodate; I had no idea what counter-steering was until a mate explained it to me. It’s also clear that the bloke in the video has no idea either, so I’d like to know why properly understanding it is a thing to be sneered at. Anyone?
  19. Oh well, I’m satisfied that I actually understand the principles of counter steering, and that I’ve actively practiced it in different scenarios (including emergency hazard avoidance, etc.). There are things that I’m happy to assign a bit of muscle memory to, but if you guys want to trust to instinct I’ll just wish you luck
  20. No it isn't.......it's a twat who shouldn't even be on a bike in the first place. Yet he seems to have a full licence? I'd be questioning the standards required in that country that gave him a motorcycle license in the first place. Thanks for confirming my point. That's why most of us have training before taking our tests. As for training.....I've no idea. And neither do you so you can't cite that as an example of no training. I've never had any training but I've never ridden like that.........and I doubt any of the others here from the 60's/ 70's did either. Or we wouldn't be here now. Many aren't, sadly. And he's never going to countersteer anyway........can you see why? Please enlighten me. Also.....on the point of countersteering! Did you know that this is a catchy phrase introduced by (I believe) Keith Code back in the late 80's/early 90's.........it just merely gives a name to a natural action that we already did for years. If we hadn't, we'd all have kept going in a straight line. Being consciously correct is a lot better than being unconsciously correct. Understanding is better than a lack of understanding. So effectively it just made a natural, subconscious action that we always did, into a conscious action that you needed to think about. Made him a shitload of dosh too as I recall. See above.
  21. That wasn't nice to watch, but (for those that were knocking out test system in the UK) it's the consequence of jumping on a bike without any training. It's also clear that the rider doesn't know how to countersteer, as he's trying to just lean the bike into the corners and it's not working.
  22. Always polarised views on this, but I'm somewhere in the middle. If you do a lot of urban riding/commuting then you'll know that a bit of noise can be a huge advantage in terms of safety. Anyone suggests that's not the case needs to spend some time riding in central London.
  23. Yes, I agree. Also worth noting that the majority (I believe) of thefts are for scooters, many of which are then used in crime.
  24. Lovely - enjoy!! (I'm still to see my 5-month old granddaughter in NYC as a consequence of CV-19 )
