  1. I'm with you on that. If I change brands I'll change both, if I stick with the Pirelli I'll only do the rear. It's got 8500 miles on it and a couple of mm left on the thread but in the rain it was definitely more twitchy than I'm used to on this bike so a change is due.
  2. On a track day too poor sod.
  3. When I got lifts on a bike in all cases I wasn't sober. One was in India and the others in South America. No safety kit of any kind was worn by either the rider or me but the bikes were not exactly superbikes. One rider was female. Hey ho - good old days!
  4. Sounds very kinky to me, far too much for my smelly helmet.
  5. After the pandemic - I guess one casualty of Covid will be hitch hiking. Back in my youth used to hitch quite a bit but can't see it happening now. On bikes never really a thing although in my younger and even more foolish days I did get lifts 4 times on the back of bikes but not in the UK.
  6. I'm a big fan of Namby-Pamby Motorcycling myself! Sadly I'd have to agree with you these days as I don't commute and I ride for fun. A slight shower I can tolerate but monsoons I'd prefer to avoid. Hence my irritation last week when I had to go out on the bike and the weather gods decided to piss all over me in vast quantities. bast*rds.
  7. Yeah I bet. Clinking shoes sounds much more interesting .....
  8. Ye god's the weather looks awful. Blue skies, a few fluffy white clouds - what sort of weather is that? Wimpy I call it. Real manly weather needs rain, fog, howling gales and preferably all at the same time!
  9. I suppose if it makes them feel better or happier I shouldn't mock. Each to his own but I'll only be wearing them when I absolutely have to. Not worn one yet but that won't last.
  10. Follow the science. Ha bloody ha! Which science exactly are we supposed to be following? At least there now seems to be some consensus on wearing masks in certain circumstances. That said I know surgeons change their masks regularly during a longer operation. How many ordinary people are doing the same? Also WTF is it with folks you see driving their cars solo and wearing a mask?
  11. By all accounts electric bikes have awesome acceleration and decent handling. The issue is range, recharge time and cost to buy in the first place. I do think hydrogen fuel cells are the more practical option for the longer term but who knows? I'd not want to be betting my pension on any one particular technology to be "the one". If I did I'd be soon living in cardboard box in middle of t'road.
  12. No idea but it sounded good, in about 25 years by which time I'll probably not be that bothered.
  13. have to say any kind of squash is pretty vile imo. I'll drink just about any kind of alcohol, coffee, tea and of course water.
  14. Think it was visordown that had news that the Japanese were developing a hydrogen fuel cell for a bike that generated it's own hydrogen from water and light and some kind of crystal. NOT lithium crystals or kryptonite before some clever clogs jumps in.
  15. Maybe I should ride more cautiously in the rain. I do already but should do better.
  16. Slight off track from the op but: I'm on the other end of the tyre's life. Riding in the monsoon conditions on Thursday reinforced the thought that my back tyre was due to be replaced. It was definitely squirrelly on some bends and roundabouts. Nothing like the buttock clenching moment when the back end slides a bit. So I am now mulling over whether to replace with OEM Pirelli Scorpions in which case I'll only do the rear or do both and switch to Metzler. Hmm.
  17. Until they introduced the electronic passport gates I used to get more hassle from immigration coming into the UK than just about anywhere except for the USA where if you're a seaman you are one step above a self-declared criminal.
  18. Sounds like a sensible idea - unlike some!
  19. Mine is the 550 also. Hopefully it is cured from its more insane ideas.
  20. Wot! Freeze my helmet? Won't work my freezer isn't big enough.
  21. It has a removable lining, I'm too lazy to remove it but am going to have to.
  22. Sadly I was under the impression that the new mods were going to lead us to sunlit uplands of utopian civilization. Or was that some other geezer?
  23. Dear God, you're a mod?!!
  24. No.3 is less than 10mm so it's not quite pony tail and it at least stops the worst of the sunburn.
  25. Looks as if I'm just going to have to wash liners as I am not wearing a balaclava unless it's less than 7 C outside. As for hair - I wish! No.3 cut all over.
