Once upon a time the Toyota Yaris peaked my interest. I think it was a relatively new model back then. Anyway it just so happened that my Step Dad had one on hire and I asked him if I could take it out for a test drive. I managed two corners before I knew it wasn’t the car for me. In fact it was bloody awful to drive. I always test any vehicle before I buy.

I didn’t suddenly develop a migraine after the first two sentences, so I carried on.

Fogging pinlock
fullscreenaging replied to Jerry1111's topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
A damp micro fibre cloth used gently will clean a pin lock nicely. Use a dry one to…well….dry it off, again, gently does it. -
If you fix the big roll holder high enough you can dye your hair so you look your best before you hang yourself.

When are we going to start teaching trail braking?
fullscreenaging replied to Pbassred's topic in Motorbike Chat
Exactly. If I come out of a curve/bend and think “I could have done that faster”, then I know I’m riding well within my skills and I’m happy. The curves is where it’s at for me. Anyone can go fast in a straight line and it takes no skill. -
I would leave the rear brake alone. Get down to the correct speed and be back on the throttle before the turn in point. You need to be accelerating gently with enough constant throttle so the weight has transferred to the rear wheel. Reach the apex and then gas it out. If you feel you get it wrong and the bike is sitting up then counter steer more.

Virago 535 and Metzeler ME888 Marathon Ultra mixing
fullscreenaging replied to Dawid126's topic in Motorbike Chat
Again, not really. You should always have the same set of tyres on your bike as they have been tested together. It’s not illegal to have different tyre brands but you just know if you have an accident your insurance company will find any excuse not to pay out, and you will have given them one right there if you choose to mix tyres. I don’t know your exact bike, but I just typed in Virago 535 tyre pair deals and found this website https://gb.mynetmoto.com/shop.cfm/moto/yamaha/5783-xv-535-virago-2yl-3br-vj01/motorcycle-tyres.html -
Surely if you escalate it to Ebay (if ge won’t agree to cancelling) and they see what has gone down they will see in your favour.

Its not necessarily Amazon that the VISA charges are affecting but rather the sellers that are getting hit. It seems they are looking after them.

Well done on the pass. Like fastbob said, take your time. it can take years to develop the skills. It’s not like driving a car, which again can take a long time to develop the correct skills if you want to become a good driver, which most don’t. I remember when I first passed my test at the age of 36 and started getting the miles under my belt that I was very slow around bends and couldn’t believe how easy others made it look to get round them twice as fast as I could. So I found educational bits online and learned the theory side of what was going on and trained my brain. I then just went out every opportunity I had to practice. I’ve now been riding 17 years, (7 years solid as I had to take 5 years out due to health reasons). An old friend recently passed his test and I could see that he is where I was once upon a time. I could see he was frustrated as to why he couldn’t ride like me even though my pace was very subdued for him. I gave him some advice on how to improve. One big thing I will say is ride your own ride and don’t ride over your skill level. Get into empty car parks and practice the manoeuvres you learned on your lessons, but try and advance them. Practice the E Stop often so it’s ingrained into your muscle memory. Learn about the vanishing point (Lots of info on the web) and also learn about counter steering (I thought I’d bring it up as it’s not been mentioned for ages ) Have a look at this. It might be a bit heavy at the minute, but you’ll be able to pick bits out of this to help you understand how the bike works. You can always stick yourself on training programs like i2i or go down the IAM or ROSPA routes. Biking is a journey so don’t feel bad about where you are now. Learn and grow and enjoy every minute out on your bike. Have fun out there.
