1. Are you sure about that? Carrying a drunk pillion is not illegal ( although should be ), but the consequences could be, first and foremost as the rider in control of the bike YOU are responsible for your passenger, if the passenger is not safe to be on the bike it should STOP there, after that other factors can come into effect
2. Don't do it full stop, you will lose your licence if you get pulled
3. It all depends on what you want in the future, so far you have been riding on a CBT for 4 years, there a couple of ways you can gain a full licence, you can go the full A DAS route through a school, or if you only intend to stick with a 125 you can do the test on your bike and get an A1 full licence, the test is the same for any category, you will need to do the theory test first £25 ish, then Mod 1 £15 ish, then Mod 2 £75 ish https://www.gov.uk/motorcycle-test
4. When all said and done what you ride is neither here or there, the main thing is you enjoy it and get the pleasure from it
5. S-Westerly What you have is a "WANT" not a "NEED" perhaps what i should have said is that a 125 would be suitable for most peoples basic needs
6. With todays modern 125's the reality is these machines are all anyone actually NEEDS, they are suited for every type of riding that being commuting, popping into town a weekend pootle or a full on tour
7. Buy the bike that makes you smile everytime you see it
8. I have only owned 4 bikes so far, my first i thought was a gilera but it was a Garelli after looking on google for pics, second was a 1978 Yamaha YB100, 3rd is Xena and last but not least Bridget The garelli (courtesy of google) The YB100 (courtesy of google)
9. I only had 1 claim that was 12 years ago, got rear ended whilst sat at traffic lights, in short driver claimed liability and car written off got paid out within 2 weeks, bought the car for £300 ins' paid out £900 and i got to keep the car sold off bits i could which raised another £500 and then scrapped it and got another £150, had the car for less than a month too
10. Looks great Westbeef , hope you have some great rides with her/him
11. Some useful reading and PTFE is Teflon https://www.venhill.co.uk/news/teflon-cables-for-motorcycles-guide/
12. jafman I think you will be okay using lubricants, i can't see the chinese manufacturers using high end products like teflon coated cables
13. thank you , will take a nosey at those. A selection of them here https://www.toolstation.com/automotive/lubricants-sprays/c264
14. Graphite, silicone and PTFE lubricants are also an option for brake and clutch cables, some have a straw that fits in the nozzle for tight hard to reach areas just a few squirts and away you go
15. To be fair though it does state it will last for upto 2 years, if it is replaced after 18 months or so as regular maintanence, then there should be no issues, as in Stu case the sealant was in for a good few years by the sounds of it, and was well past it's best
16. It never repaired my puncture so I'll never be using that stuff again I did use something similar for a car i had, never did get the tyre changed it worked for at least two years

Chain Lubricant

I think i use that well is smells of bananas anyway, i usually give it a few of good coats and literally have it dripping
18. Hi Mate It is worth checking the front sprocket nut as these are often secured with a washer that bends over and the shaft is splined. Just thinking that if the nut did spin loose it could be a disaster. Hopefully I am wrong ! Cheers Ian Not the front sprocket already checked the main possibilities not to worry if it's something crucial i'm sure i will soon find out
19. i will get something up when i get the chance and i will have to try and source some pictures from the web as i only took a couple of photos myself
20. Bridget is all back together now, just finished the last few jobs, cleaning and refitting the front sprocket cover and the chain guard, and i only have a couple of bits left over , one is a locking washer but for a splined bolt or something and a little plastic bung no idea where that goes so overall pretty happy, she just needs a good clean and polish now
21. the bottle was probably left as in case of emergency if you happen to come across him again Great story
22. Massive no from me! They can corrode alloy! So much so I have had to replace a wheel because of the stuff What about in tubed tyres as it's not in direct contact with any metal unless you get a puncture?.
23. Another alternative https://www.halfords.com/tools/garage-equipment/breakdown-essentials/slime-smart-tyre-repair-kit-813011.html
