  1. Noise is noise whatever the source, a group of kids shouting and screaming below the microphones would probably be enough to give every passing vehicle a fine, and some kids would probably do it for shits and giggles

If you feel that strongly about it, petition the government and change the licensing laws
  5. What bike is it, is it new or used from a dealer or used from a private seller, do you have any warranty, as above have you checked that it is adjusted properly, has the size of front sprocket been changed or is stock, there is no need to go cutting bits out to solve the issue
  6. Is that a permanent restriction on the mountain road ?? No, for the past couple of months its been 40mph with no overtaking, so if you're unfortunate enough to get stuck behind someone doing 25mph you have to sit there! It's going up to 60mph in a couple of weeks and then, allegedly, returning to normal next month? Big push from a lot of people, a lot of whom appear to be elderly drivers and cyclists, who want the current restrictions to be maintained. Its certainly causing a lot of upset, I just garaged the MT and stuck with riding the green lanes, a lot of people aren't happy with motorcyclists doing that either! Might be time to get a moped
  7. There is a good chance it has leaked out somewhere, petrol can evaporate quite quickly in the open air

I think we need a directive as to whether @Hoggs now qualifies for Flouncing Floater status. Any thoughts @Bender? She's more of a yoyo than a flounce Or a bungee jumper

I hope the paper for those reports are soft, we don't want the little darlings getting paper cuts and have to use another sheet, think of the enviroment

    Hello!

    Hello and welcome
  11. Even though my little Xena is a 125 even she wants to pull, i can feel her wanting to go but have to hold her back, so it's not just big bikes that like to go faster
  12. In all essence you are using the wrong bike for town centre riding, big CC/BHP and slow don't really mix You could also make the same argument in reverse - on the open road a more powerful and larger machine is more suited than a 125, even an awesomely stupendous Chinese 125. Saying that though it surprising how many people irrespective of bike size cannot do slow maneuvers, learning to slip the clutch and controlling speed with the rear brake, is or should be one of the skills that become second nature when riding a motorcycle

  14. This is very true, you should do the speed that is safe for the conditions. At the same time it’s very hard to keep some bikes at lower limits, it’s possible to do but they absolutely hate it, my bike can’t stand town riding, it protests by running extremely hot and being jerky, if you’re going through a town centre at 20 MPH you have to pull the clutch in and coast it/slip it a bit because it wants to stall, which is probably the reason I don’t use it for commuting, driving a car, even with the traffic is more enjoyable. In all essence you are using the wrong bike for town centre riding, big CC/BHP and slow don't really mix
  15. When the TT first started the average speed of the bikes were under 40 mph, and it was run as time trials, big difference to how it is run today
  16. Adding your location may help others to suggest someone or somewhere
  17. Nothing for nearly three hours so he is either having a great ride out or he's binned it
  18. The problem with speed limits are that many seem to think you have to do those speeds regardless of the type of road and conditions
  19. Then you get those that complain about shooting, and hunting, the rural landscape is far from idyllic when you spend more than an hour or two there on a picnic
  20. It's all well and good trying to reduce noise, but what happens when a group of bikers are travelling together and one of them has a loud pipe, it would be impossible to pinpoint the culprit so would they all get fined and in the process of an appeal would they be required to name the person to blame, or if you have someone on a bike and is side by side with a car with a loud exhaust which one would get fined, there are too many variables to make it really viable
  21. Don't drop it FFS
  22. It might attract more bikers on smaller machines to visit, they could explore at a sensible pace without worrying that someone doing a ton plus could hit them from behind
  23. Having serviced Xena yesterday and it got me thinking about recycling the old oil, it's not in bad condition as oil goes and still reasonably clear, so instead of taking to the recycling centre i am thinking of other uses for it, could it be used on the chain ?, or use it to lubricate other areas of the bike like pivot points, i will use it on my hedge trimmer blades so that's another use, anyone else used the oil elsewhere
  24. You will soon see if anything is amiss when the first service is done, any major metal in the oil will certainly need investigating, if it comes out clean then just crack on and ride it
