I wouldn’t know where to start with researching oil. I don’t understand it and suspect I would risk getting it wrong if I did not just buy the Castrol stuff in Halfords.

For when at first I don’t succeed in my repairing...

What would a quote for a 1998 zzr600 bring back. you might be able to afford something like that?

Intermittent engine kill when putting it in gear from neutral. Got my Honda CBF 600 back home. I've literally Come to a halt engine running. Moved to neutral, clutch held tight. Pop 1st gear - and clunk engine stops with a small pull forward, seeming to indicate its engaged gear while I have the clutch lever pulled in tight. I've gone back out after 5 minutes and started it. Repeated engaging 1st and it was ok. Any ideas ? This was how you described it earlier

Hi do you have the manual for it? if not I wonder if you can get one digitally online. Failing that exploded parts diagrams can be helpful to make sense of things. mom your Facebook post did you describe it cut out whilst running?

I’ve been wanting to put my tomatoes out for weeks, they are leggy as anything but the temps are too low. still been enjoying my commutes though just with loads of layers.

@Ian Frog nothing helpful to add, just notes of compassion/sympathy. Sounds like life got a bit complicated. Hope the road smooths out.

Yeah, it’s a vibrant and challenging experience. Used to go through there a bit on my 125. i did one of DAS days driving around there in the pouring rain!

I rode my 125 from Essex to Birmingham and had a fab morning I totally accept all that had been said. I don’t think any of us are ‘right’, there are a few ways you can do it. One might suit you more than another. If you only plan to ride a 125 for a couple of months though insurance change costs and risk of taking a little bit on the value might make that much more expensive. I much prefer riding my 600, I thoroughly enjoyed my 125 and never felt extra unsafe. it would do 70 down hill with a following wind and 55 up hill.

Sorry gang, I’ve not made any journeys that are not essential (definition of essential includes going to buy things rather than order online sometimes) since the pandemic started. I really hoped this year I might but so far it has not been.

This topic splits everyone. Some say just crack on with DAs, some say some time on a 125 is helpful. I am glad I had 18months on a 125, I really felt ready when I was on the bigger bike doing my DAS after 18months of using my 125 in all situations and weathers. I’ve seen comments on here about people who seem to have just three days training including CBT and that is them sorted.

I’m glad I did it this way too. I understand that others think it’s better like this and other others think straight to DAS is best. mum 18months on a 125 helped with insurance on my 600 and my experience.

I rode my bike a mile to the garage with the Break calliper at the back not secured in place, just hanging on the disc. Lesson learned.

Welcome, both to the forum and motorcycling. a lot of DAS courses achieve what they need in fewer days than that so you will be grand. No idea about providers’in Glasgow.
