1. For £10 I can get the tyre changed and balanced. Just take the wheel off and go to the garage 4 miles away. Don't think is worth the trouble for little saving
2. I'm trying to equip my new trailer (see my other post) with a solar panel to charge phone, camera, sat-nav, etc. After some investigation I realise that not only the suppliers of solar kits are anything but reliable they lie as much as an MP. Some facts: Sun energy at sea level on a bright day at noon will give something around 800W / m2 The best solar panels currently can convert around 20 to 23% energy which will give you no more than 184W . m2. The best way for you to measure how much power you will get from a given solar panel is to multiply the max voltage by the current. (W = V x I Power is the voltage times the current) Depending on the battery condition you will need around 1A to recover a battery with low voltage (around 8 to 10V) for a few hours. Also, it depends on your location. Further north the variation is greater both between summer / winter but also further north you are less sunlight you will get. A trickle charger usually will have a top current of 0.8A (800mA) to 1A as this will mimic the current of the alternator of the bike. Ireland (by your location) will have short days reducing substantially the output of a solar panel. I would assume you may get around 250W / m2 average. Thinking that you will need it more in the winter as it is when the bike will probably be stationary for longer you are looking at 2Kw panels to make sure you have the battery fully charged at all times. With the 2Kw panels you would need to get a controller to make sure it stops charging once the battery is full.
3. One of them will win the race
4. Make sure there is a section to moan about how the Chinese companies lie about solar panels output.
5. You haven't seen the sight of my top box! It works hard for a living. Start with filler dedicated for plastic )ABS) for the large scratches. Plenty of sanding and redoing the filler until you're happy with surface. (and I mean HAPPY) This can take 3 or 4 layers depending on your ability and how perfect you want it. But if you think you should do more don't be shy. 3 coats of primer should be 3 to 4mm which gives you enough sanding thickness for small marks. VERY IMPORTANT: More time in preparation will give you a better finish so don't save on elbow grease and spend as much time as you need!! 5 to 7 coats of spray paint should be around 1 to 2mm the stuff is very thin and won't cover enough if less than 5 coats. 3 to 5 coats of clear for protection (optional but highly recommended) You will end up with a shiny perfect finish top box that will make everybody jealous As I said before, unless you have a spray gun spray cans work as good as the gun although more expensive but cheaper than getting a compressor and the gun.
6. Last year while doing a thorough service on my Pan I have really struggled to replace the wheel bearings. Tried making my own tool which didn't work and ended up welding a rod inside the bearings and beat the life out of them to get them off. Today I've come across this video, Brazilian like Cuban and other citizens of less wealthy countries frequently have to make up their own tools. Although most of you won't understand what the guy is saying the video is clear enough to understand how this tool is made. If you need me to translate any part of it (or any of his videos) let me know Disclaimer: the video contains flashing images
7. Have a look here https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_cat/941 Stu will appreciate
8. Yes bonio Then you step up a lot if you take the missus with you. That's when you build your own trailer
9. Happy Birthday
10. Nothing that some plastic filler, 3 coats of spray primer for plastic. 5 to 7 coats of spray paint and it will be as good as new. You can apply 3 to 5 coats of clear to protect from scratches a wee bit more but it will give a metallic glossy finish. Is such a small area that you can do the whole job with spray cans at a low cost.
11. As fastbob says you're better off with something on the bike not your back. After 30min it will feel like a tonne of bricks and you will be tired a lot quicker. Let the bike carry it for you instead.
12. Thank you for the feedback, I was very tempted to get one but you just helped making up my mind. Make sure you use the sportsbikeshop link if you do Obvious
13. Is it as good as I think? Light years ahead of the 590! The 590 is a great sat nav but the XT is miles better I aren't doing myself any favours for selling the 590 here Thank you for the feedback, I was very tempted to get one but you just helped making up my mind.
14. Been driving a kinda auto car for a few years now but the fact is, the operation of the brakes on any car is always done with the foot that operates the accelerator. Unless of course, if you fancy licking the windscreen with your forehead... Learn left foot braking ... Brilliant method for car control on loose surfaces or high speed manoeuvres on twisty roads Don't need to. my car have a very clever accelerator that will brake when I lift the foot. Brakes are to be used only in emergency
15. I just need to stop in front of any shop in Kirkcaldy's high street, that will keep me busy for a while.

17. So, basically you can't tell your left from right foot...
18. I still blame the banks and credit card companies for giving loans and high credit values on cards to people who being on low income can't afford it. This is a risk that it should be imposed to the finance institutions and not the consumers. The issue is not the aggressivity of the bailiffs and debt collectors but those who give money away without any consideration if the recipients can pay it back.
19. Hopefully I'll be recovered and be able to take the Shadow for a spin.
20. When was the last time you had a drive where you had to refuel halfway the trip? Newer EV's have a range of 200 to 350 miles. Do you drive that far every day?
21. Hi Emma and welcome (again ) If the problem is the thread you can easily fix it with something like helicoil for a cheaper fix https://www.amazon.co.uk/TR-TOOLROCK-131pcs-Thread-Helicoil/dp/B087LWQMR9/ref=asc_df_B087LWQMR9/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=430933670800&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=14381978366265656472&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9046883&hvtargid=pla-920859034729&psc=1&tag=&ref=&adgrpid=102658916800&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvadid=430933670800&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=14381978366265656472&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9046883&hvtargid=pla-920859034729 or the more expensive, better quality wurth time sert. It will make it easier to tell you which are your options if you post a couple pics of what you have and where you want to fit it. Keep in mind that it is illegal to ride a bike without mirrors.
22. so a Arc Vector would be out of the question then... https://www.arcvehicle.com "only" costs $110,000 But looks like the Bugatti of motorbikes
23. With under 90 miles range and a price over £10k it is an expensive bike. You can get better machines with longer range. https://www.motorcyclenews.com/advice/best/electric-motorbikes/ The issue is still the charging time of several hours to be practical. Good for short commute and if you live in Scotland you can get 0% interest loan
24. You are very welcome I hope you find it comfortable
25. What did you buy Stu? The Zumo XT Is it as good as I think?
