The same reason why I said that he should post a few photos for us to understand what happened
-
The chain coming off the sprocket seems the most likely. Try putting it in gear, release the clutch and push it forward. Can you feel the resistance from engine compression? If yes the chain is on the sprocket. If no the chain if off the sprocket. It could be the sprocket become loose from the axle and it would give the same effect.

Well I’m on here to learn about bikes an so far learned quite a bit. This is my first bike and the reason was to learn about them before I spend more money on one. I know my questions sound simple and daft but I ain’t scared to ask silly may be in your eyes “simple” questions. I’m sure you didn’t know your self at one point. Is not so much about how silly your questions are, this one being a proof of it , but how much detail are you giving. We can only reply based on what you say and if your information is not complete we can't give complete answers. That's why I told you to post a couple of pictures so we can have a better idea.

Now now, there is no need for that

Hi sorry for silly question but I assumed if it had snapped it would just fall off. So now for really silly part... where should I be looking to see if it’s snapped If the chain snapped you will have the 2 ends hanging. Why don't you post a couple pics of what you have?

What am I missing for the price?
husoi replied to Gaz_'s topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
First of ll I wold stay clear from Amazon on what refers to bike safety gear. Helmets city would be my preferred place for my helmet. I got my Nolan from them and very happy with it. Depending on what use, what bike you have you maybe want to invest more or kess. A very good helmet for speeds over 40mph is your best choice, because you're not saying what bike you have or will be getting is hard to judge what you really need. Of course, if you go for a high speed bike then you need to have an helmet that protects properly on higher speeds. Noise is another factor you will need to consider along with weight for obvious reasons. There are many online shops dedicated to motorbike gear but if this is your first time purchasing I would first have a try in store before going straight online. You don't have the feeling of what you will be needing until you try it on. It will be pointless for anyone to tell you "go to these or those other..." because you will be the one wearing it. Same goes for gloves -
If replacing the chain, which you should have done long ago, doesn't solve the issue you probably cooked the clutch. A more serious problem would be the gearbox being damaged because the sprocket got jammed. Passing through the sprocket's axle...

A little progress and a major milestone The wheel arches are cut in and started the final stage of the frame, the front bit from the wheels to the hitch. Decided to have 250mm straight bit and then the final bit to an angle to the centre with approximate 700mm long.

And the new project is...
husoi replied to husoi's topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
And this concludes this project After all only needed to leave the seat outside for the whole day and let it dry under that shiny thing up i the sky All glued, cover on and stapled together. Hopefully the plastic film will prevent water from getting into the foam. Tools used: Electric staple gun, Cutting knife screwdriver and pliers (to remove the old staples) pen ruler Materials used: Gel pads 25X25X2cm (Due to the size of the seat there was no need to cut them. 2cm memory foam polyethylene film Flooring spray glue Total cost: £54 Pads £35 Plastic film free Memory foam £18 Staples less than £1 Very happy with the result and well under £100 cost not considering working hours, the front seat took just under 3hr so a total of 6hrs -
While progressing the box and the frame, yesterday I made the swivel. Very happy with the result even if took me ages to do it. That happens when you have diy tools instead of professional ones. I was considering having some kind of bearing to make the working smoother but the amount of movement won't be that big so the nut will be the moving part instead. The movement will vary the length of the frame by just a couple mm so I'm fine with it. This is similar to the ones I found on sale which rely on steel to steel movement.

And the new project is...

RATS!!!! Started the rear seat Took the staples out, and was presented with the two corners of the seat completely soaked. This was Friday, Sunday now and is still not dry Cut the foam to house the gel but can't add the memory foam and fit everything back until the foam dries. The glue won't stick with the wet foam. By any chance does anybody knows a trick to dry this damn thing? -
And the new project is...

Right!! Halfway done Rear seat is finally finished, very happy with result and was not difficult at all I would say a 3 from 1 to 10. Had a wee problem with the staple gun... The first manual one packed up on the first few Then I got one from Screwfix for £30 that was a nail gun so no good for me Went back and exchange it for the model above that it does staples for an extra £5. No good either because it only does staples 3mm apart and would have ripped the cover. Back again and finally got the proper staple gun that only costs £20, so got refund and able to finish the job. Kudos for Screwfix for being patient with a wee knob-head That's the rear seat done, next the front one -

I'm on my second electric car and won't go back to fossil fuel. The day touring can be done on an ebike I'll be placing the order At the moment, the 150 miles range is good for my commuting so it is playing up in my mind as second bike

That already exists. Not long ago there was a guy on BBC news talking about a battery made of nuclear waste. It is at lab level and it will take a while to develop to commercial level. The problem with it is that a battery that lasts 1000 years is not a good deal for companies trying to sell stuff... https://www.popularmechanics.com/science/a30613776/nuclear-waste-diamond-battery/ A ready made Dirty Bomb . All you would have to do is short the terminals and run for it . I'm sure a failsafe would be easily built-in to prevent a 1,000 years short circuit

We could get a few of those and rebuild a good one
-
You don't HAVE to buy one now you could wait till the technology gets better and you can go further and further on a single charge It's improving all the time Very true. 1 year ago you would struggle to get over 50 miles and now you have bikes that go 150 miles. The main issue is still the charging time. But even that is coming down.

There is a difference between finding it reasonable and finding the best deal possible. My insurance was £120 last year and renewal was £140 following your line of thought it would be a reasonable deal. Changing I went from £140 to £117 and better breakdown cover. This country have an old saying "take care of your pence and they will care for your pounds."

They are all good unless you need them. Had my bike insured with Hogdson and MacKenzie and was fine until they left me on the side of the M77 with a flat tyre from 8:30pm till 5AM and were absolutely useless. Had to sign up with RAC to get home. H&M are a different name for Carole Nash so those are excluded from my Xmas list. The idiot in the 24/7 useless line couldn't care less of me being in a dangerous place. Kudos for the police that never showed up. I'm sure if I was speeding would have them all over me

moneysupermaket.com or any other comparison website worked for me. Usually I go to 3 comparison sites and pick the one I want then go searching for it to see if I can get an even better deal. At the moment I'm with Grove & Dean They offer EU breakdown cover for free for the same price I would have a normal comprehensive insurance.
