  1. We sold our rental property in Norwich when we moved up here. The house was rented to my son but he moved out about the time we relocated. We’d heard many horror stories from friend and thought it too much hassle and risk to rent it out at a distance of 300 miles … Just as well we did as we misjudged how much renovating this place would cost… the cash is needed…
  2. I’ve been using MRA for a while now. The RoSPA group I was a member of share all their group ride routes using it. It’s really useful.

    F1......

It’s good to get an independent expert view. Thanks for sharing.
  4. I would recommend attending an i2i course (there is one called “Knee Down” but it covers so much more) and/or a Better Riding Day with Hopp Rider Training at Cadwell.
  5. The guy on the A1(M) today who didn’t understand the term “zip merge”, and deliberately closed the gap to prevent me from changing lane when the lane I was in was closed. Petty minded bar steward.
  6. We apply that to food particularly.
  7. The weather might be a bit rough, but it broke long enough for me to grab a quick snap of the sunset.
  8. Which is why I leave it to my good lady. She’s the clever one, I just lift heavy things…
  9. I’ve abandoned the en-suite to leave my good lady to do the tiling. I did cut the trim to size, mind…
  10. The grandkids visited this weekend, my daughter and her dog are here, Aston Villa beat Leicester and Max Vertstappen came unstuck in F1… so not a bad weekend. On the other hand, we’ve agreed that my daughter can watch Strictly… time for headphones and YouTube highlights of the British Judo championships from the weekend methinks.
  11. This appears to refer to cars but appears to answer your question. Link Extract from linked article. “You can use tyres with a higher load index than that recommended by the manufacturer, but do not use a tyre with a lower load index. A tyre with a lower load index cannot support the weight of the vehicle and its load”.
  12. I’m just glad he doesn’t ride a Beemer…
  13. Flu and COVID booster inoculations recieved yesterday. All’s good apart from slight bruising of the shoulder.
  14. As far as I could tell, for a high ranking job, the necessary skills are; Avoiding any real work at all costs Agreeing with your boss at all times Joining an failing project with the remits to turn it around, shout at everyone, report it as sorted then buggering off (see next point) Leaving any project in the sh*t while reporting it as fine, and blaming any failure on your successor Slopey shoulders Teflon suit Ability to bullshit (see our current PM for role model) Complete lack of integrity (see previous point for role model) Ability to do a 180 degree turn if required by management.
  15. The A69 seems to have a lot of accidents.
  16. That sounds about right (as I recall from my days as an insurance agent several decades ago).
  17. There’s a similar amount just outside Lichfield judging by the photo my daughter sent. Disappointingly, barely a smattering here. I was hoping to get the sledges out…
  18. I did get the urge to buy a boat a few years ago. My good lady bought us lessons, and we passed RYA level 2 at Filby Broad. I thought I’d buy a nice little Wayfarer. My good lady prefers a vessel where ducking under the boom every time you turn (her dad had a 27’ sailing boat when she was young so she was spoiled, I said). I got all keen and qualified Competent Crew around the rivers Roach and Crouch. Started saving for a suitable boat. It all got lost when I spent the money on upgrading the bike. Oops.
  19. I’d be surprised if you can get Irn Bru in Glasgow. I thought my son in law, who lives in Old Kilpatrick, had cornered the market in the stuff. Possibly a bit far, but the Creagan Inn, on the shores of Loch Creran, does an excellent Irn Bru battered fish supper.
  20. It’s £70 a dumpy bag for us. We do, however, have a large ready supply of wood from trees we had cut down when we first moved here. It’s just getting to the point where it’s dry enough to burn (around 19% moisture).
  21. I may have to build an outside store for it. Or see if I can sell the wood…
  22. Oh ‘eck. I should have investigated further down the drive. We have a large tree down, luckily away from the drive, not across it. Still, lots of firewood for a couple of years’ time.
