  1. I had a loaner while my bike was in for warranty work. I liked the whole package. A mate’s got the Honda and is chuffed with it. I wasn’t so keen when I took one for a test ride.
  2. An old judo buddy of mine lived in Nairobi somewhere around 1980 In the book he wrote about his time there he tells of how he was the intended victim of an armed carjacking. I think I’ll stick to Europe for my travels...
  3. Hours of fun* configuring the new one, transferring data (unless you use Cloud) loading required software etc. * not my idea of fun to be honest.
  4. I got held up by a traffic jam in Scotland today.
  5. After a year of practically zero aerobic exercise I have started building a “Mini dojo”. It will be set up for solo judo fitness training. I have some fitness kit ready to put in place and I’ve bought Uchi Komi bands to add to that. This is going to hurt...
  6. Z1000SX is comfy even for this poor old wreck. If I were in your position I’d be visiting dealerships, sitting on bikes, using Ergonomics checker to check riding positions, and checking spec sheets.
  7. Having a little potter around the lanes of the Scottish Borders on the bike. Clearing ground for a polytunnel, and fitting skirting in the study. Beer may be consumed at some point.
  8. We renovated a terrace property in Norwich and bought it to keep there. I think I paid about £40 for it and it’s been a real boon for all the shitty jobs we’ve needed it for.
  9. You may note a Titan vacuum cleaner in my photo. That gets attached to the dust outlet and switched on. It’s quite effective at minimising the dust.
  10. I’m using DeWalt tungsten tipped. The blade’s done quite a lot of work. Two rooms, oak skirting and miscellaneous bits of cutting of CLS etc.
  11. Cheers. I’ll buy one for the next room we do the flooring on.
  12. Today’s DIY tip. Cutting laminate flooring is the perfect way to knacker a saw blade.
  13. I can only echo what has been said before. HJC lids are fine. My good lady had one for some while and there’s no way I would allow her (or would she accept) to have anything unsafe or substandard.
  14. As an omnivore, I’m not in the slightest offended. Indeed, our Sunday roast is probably 75% vegan.
  15. Friends who have ridden them tell me they’re bloody good bikes. Any chance of a review after you’ve covered a few km’s?
  16. Remember that (some) Kawasaki bikes (it may apply to others) hold a record of the last thirty seconds or so of data about throttle openings etc. “ to aid in incident investigation” (my car has this facility, too). You may as well leave the camera on ... ???
  17. It’s from the Norwich Beer Festival. They have a slightly different logo each year based on a dragon. It’s from the 31st event glass, 2008. One of the annual events I’ll miss having moved away.
  18. Given how much work we have to do (ourselves) on this place, we’ve taken the view that there are some jobs that are best done by others, possibly more competent. In some cases, not because we’re not capable but due to the time and timing aspects. The ceiling was also removed, so we slapped some insulation into the gap. Not up to current standards but a damn sight more than what was there before.
  19. I was more concerned* about the Police and Crime Bill in that. I did mention it before it’s second reading but my concerns were dismissed. * possibly the understatement of the year. It’s a poorly worded piece of legislation, draconian, that could be interpreted in so many ways.
  20. Good afternoon. After a poor start to the morning. In the process of fitting the toilet and the supplied concealed cistern is a tight fit for the cabinet, with insufficient room for the side inlet. Grrr.
  21. The guys took photos to show me... There’s no way I could have done the work they did, especially in the time they did it.
