  1. Hi as said there normally none adjustable, but you could try giving the switch a good clean with some WD40 or contact cleaner. There's a possibility that the switch is crude up with grime making it stick and less responsive. Hope this helps
  2. Cracking bike enjoy, 3 of my mates have gone the same route. Would be top of my list should l move away from the Busa
  3. Just be sure to fit new sealing washers to both sides of the banjo get the banjo in position and tighten down to the correct torque setting. Most levers and calipers have a location cradle to sit the hose outlet in. Just be sure you get the job done correctly, leaking brake fluid and faulty brakes cut you no slack.
  4. I would like to vote out but l feel our problems are not europe but our own selfish greedy governments who are hell bent on lining there's and there mates pockets fist. Having not long returned from a fantastic winter holiday in Norway where we had 4 g connection all the way up through the artic circle and back, roads packed with ice trucks and and cars running on studded tyres and not a pothole to be seen we could clearly see the goverment put there country first. As others have already said unless there's a massive change in government politics here the average uk citizens here will remain to be stuffed.
  5. Hi defo electrical, if your not clued up on bike electric's l would look for an auto electrician rather than a mechanic, you need to identify the fault first rather than start replacing parts, far to often garages start replacing parts generating you a nice tidy bill, when if fact it might just be a loose connection or a dry joint. I might sound a bit cynical it's just my ten pence worth
  6. So good to hear some good news for a change. It's a tough world for traders at the moment also, good to see there putting customer satisfaction before profits for a change
  7. Sorry to hear this mate, it's a tough old learning curve this motorbike lark, good to hear your ok motorbike bits are one thing skin and bone completely another. Plenty of spares out there just take your time and shop around. Hope your soon back on track.
  8. I've arranged to go to a local bike MOT station today to ask them to have a look, must it be the RAC for me to have any weight to my argument? Is the shop where you brought it from not an MOT station most trained mac? A MOT station will only pick up on the safety aspects of the bike the RAC will a to z it if you ask them, I would get an independent engineer to look it over, then there's also trading standards if all else fails
  9. Hi, if the chain is knocking and they have said it's the chain and sprockets, l would say they are selling something thats not fit for purpose. That bike is a high performance motorbike it needs to be kept like one, don't be fobbed off, if there going to dig in tell them your going to take it to the RAC to have it inspected and get a second opinion that should bring them round.
  10. Hi I wouldn't except that, you need that sprocket and chain changing as soon as possible, that sprocket could fail at anytime the consequences l don't even want to think about it. Also that knocking noise as you call it is being transmitted through your gearbox - transmission, each knock is a knock on the gearbox bearings cushion drive and anything else connected to it. I wouldn't be fobbed off get it change. Regarding the cold start issue l would suspect that there's a sensor that in need of adjustment or replacing, as already said the shop has a duty of care and you have paid for that. Best of luck
  11. Hi Shorty, I've been to Mugello before on the bike, that time I was riding solo. It's is deep into Italy and yes it is crazy anyone who's not been there you just can't explain. The place will be alive with Police and rightly so, I might just drop a line to the Italian authorities to see if visitor rights apply. Will keep you posted
  12. If there was an exception the court case would not have been brought.. the grounds for the case was: it posed an obstacle to the free movement of goods contrary to Article 28 EC, the case was brought by the european commission. http://ec.europa.eu/dgs/legal_service/a ... 110_en.pdf the reply from the goldwing owners begs an obvious question: were the supposed bikers who went to Italy actually seen by the polizia stradale. to be stopped.. you have to be seen. Like you I've read and re read the doc's relating to the case, I'm going to clarify with the Goldwing club to see if they sort permission or whether they were approached by the police whilst in Italy. I know full well that the Cacarabinieri and the polizia are not to be messed with.
  13. I've done Italy numerous times both bike and car anywhere there is some experience to ride or drive, mental does not come near it! Crazy that they stop the trailers on the grounds of safety when they don't obey even the basic laws.
  14. Just had a reply from the Goldwing mob, some have been with there trailers with no issues, Apparently they say that the visitor rule is accepted, interesting!!
  15. NOoooooo!! Don't go there!!
  16. I've got a caravan if needs be! Riding 2 up with camping gear the trailer definitely the way to go
  17. OK I have been riding a little over 12 months now and my chicken strips have slowly been decreasing in ever smaller increments... I am not interested in getting knee down and the rest of it but I do like the idea of riding a little closer to the limits, it just never felt right. Then I realized when I have carried a pillion or had my soft panniers loaded my bike felt "better". So I popped into my friendly mechanic who suggested 2 notches on my rear suspension pre-load (the only adjustment there is). I did noticed I was coming out of bends a little quicker, next day I was looking at my bike form across the road as one does and it looked different some how. There it was I had halved my chicken strip, in one day. My confidence in corner has shot up and my bike feels so much better for it in corners. No longer do undulations in the road make the bike twitchy, being my first big bike the last owner being about my size I thought if it isn't broken I was going to fix it.. Scrubbing the chicken strips off the tyres doesn't necessary mean your getting any faster, far better to concentrate on honing your road reading skills and learning to push and pull on the bars "I'm not going to say the word" rather than to leaning to silly angles
  18. Hi as most of you know we pull a trailer behind the Busa to camp and rallies. We've been many times to Europe, IOM and through out the U/K What l really fancy doing is going to the Moto Gp at Mugello Italy. According to rule book there's seems to be a problem with Italy and a few others Often, it's actually the fault of the motorcycle manufacturers who do not specify the weight their bikes can pull, so many European governments restrict the use of trailers for motorcycles. So here's a list of European countries and their laws regarding pulling a trailer with your motorcycle: Country Allowed Comments Austria Yes Same laws apply as to car trailers. Belgium Yes & No Motorcycles are allowed to pull a trailer, but sidecars are not. Czech Republic Yes Denmark Yes & No Only trailers with more than 1 wheel are authorized. Finland Yes The trailer weight can not be more than 50% of the motorcycle weight. If the trailer has a suspension, maximum speed allowed is 80 kph, else 60 kph. France Yes Germany Yes Limited to 60 kph, ie, not on motorways. Greece ? Not clear Ireland No Since 2009 Italy No There is no specific law authorizing them, therefore, they are illegal. Luxembourg Yes Maximum weight is 150 kgs, on motorways, speed limit is 90 kph, 75 kph on country roads. Norway Yes Portugal ? Not clear Spain No Sweden Yes Trailers need to be homologated. Switzerland Yes Maximum speed 80 kph The Netherlands Yes Maximum speed 80 kph UK Yes The trailers need to be homologated, and can only be pulled by a motorcycle with more than 125cc. Legal requirements vary from country to country and in some European countries it is illegal to tow with a motorbike. In those counties where it is illegal towing is permitted to visiting UK citizens during their stay. We would recommend you check with the relevant authorities before travelling just to be sure. As you can see it's somewhat of a minefield question is, do we just jump in and go for it or do apply to the country we intend to travel to? l'm sure doing this will result in me being buried in protocol and paperwork. What's your thoughts
  19. Thanks for showing, that looked like some adventure look forward to seeing the finished film.
  20. I wouldn't want to try that one, your more than likely to find your bike I a compound and a bigger penalty - fine to get it out.
  21. With the councils for ever getting squeezed by central government "Austerity l think they call it" They have to and will look into any way or form to gather revenue, sure you'll be able to park your bike but you will be on pay and display and restricted. Traffic wardens are not there to marshal they are there to issue tickets and collect.
  22. This rally is not just about Matlock, it seems that the council is trying to enforce the same parking restriction on the bikes as the cars, where as you have to purchase a parking ticket http://www.morebikes.co.uk/matlock-bath ... announced/ I suppose the train of thought is, if they succeed here, other councils will jump onto it making it almost impossible to park up at your favourite ride outs - meets and attractions. Hence why there such a lot of interest from the biking community and heat in the protest Folks attending from near and far
  23. Anyone on here up for this this weekend? Subject to work and weather l will be there. On the face of it it's going to be some gathering 5000 plus bikers have said yes to going at the moment . https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid ... =3&theater
  24. That was exactly the problem Yamaha had with the R1 on the IOM constant high RPM resulted with oil getting into the air box. Result Michael Dunlop walked away from R1
