  1. Get a liner fitted, not many engines at all these days that will take a rebore Try these people massive reputation for relining, porting and tuning of2stroke engines, a straight 4 stroke single should be no problem Fahron Engineering, Hucknall, Nottingham. +44(0)115 963 4123
  2. 2 piece leathers for me, I have textiles for cold rides but feel far more secure in my leathers
  3. Here you go mate, http://www.ideal-eyes.co.uk/_blog/Blog/post/can-you-get-varifocal-contact-lenses/ Apparently you need to be check for suitability, I'm booked in at the weekend will let you know how l get on. They also do what's called mono vision where you have one eye set up for distance and the other for reading, sounds strange but lm assured this works. Beats the hell out of trying to fit glasses into a helmet if it works
  4. Agree it has to work. I've just been pick up on a MOT for a marker - turn light not working on a wing mirror on my car. The garage wanted £150.00 to fix it JOY! Out with the tool box and managed to sort it myself.
  5. Hi, has anybody on here tried varia focal contact lenses. I've just had my eyes tested and now been told lm in need of glasses for both distance and reading " Age thing". It's just been pointed out to me that you can now get varia focal contact lenses which sounds like a great idea save me trying to fit glasses inside a helmet. Any info - feedback would be most welcome.
  6. I'm assuming they're not going to bother with any of that and just chuck a new engine in. For £400 mate not a chance. That's in for a repair and until it's stripped they will not know what's wrong with it. I can always remember someone in the trade telling me years ago that it costs a clear fortune to build a bike out of spares than the costs of buying a new one
  7. Hi, how can they give you a firm quote without actually finding out what's wrong? Be very careful that could very easily escalate. I would ask them for a price to strip it and find the fault before you give approval for them to do a complete repair.

Cheer for putting up the link Stu, I was thinking more of the guy's who are going to the TT or other and struggling getting there gear on the bike. I've done the skimpy camping trips, carrying the lightest tent and thinnest sleeping bag and suffered the consequence, hence l built my trailer. With all the old boarding houses on the TT almost gone "they've been turned into apartments" camping now is really the only option you can rent a tent but there charging between £20 to £50 per person per night crazy money! Far better to pitch in get a good tent and gear and send it ahead direct to the camp site, the will also pick up and return it home after the event. Also a blessing if you've got a sports bike or not use to carrying a load.
  9. Hi, l would stop right there, you've identified that its coming from inside the engine, and your coming across that you not to mechanical minded. Don't start it again until you have got someone with you who knows his way around a motorbike. You could be doing untold damage to the engine - gearbox which if you identify and repair quickly could save you a lot of time, heart ache and money.

Anyone going to the TT, an event or biking holiday that can't get all there gear on the bike here's a possible solution. https://www.sendmybag.com/ Rave reviews from folks who sent there camping gear direct to there camp sites and back for the IOM for the TT
  11. This will explain why I can't get a price for one. Hmm. Looks like I'll scrub this as an idea then. There's a web page on waste book for ticket swops and sales. All advance tickets have to be paid in full by the end of Feb. Keep your finger on the pulse a bunch of cancellation will become available after then
  12. Heated grips for me, tried numerous types of gloves over the years, the grips win every time.

    Norway

Cheers for the heads up, not much happening there yet by all accounts. Immingham did say they will still freight cars over with doc's not sure about bikes l will chase that one up. Last years fare was £50 each way for the bike and £175 each per passenger. There's now going to be a lot of hassle doing it this way l feel

I suppose it's them doing there bit in securing the country JOKE! Again it's the innocent people who suffer. I'm massively disappointed, there's no way my partner can take 3 weeks off work to go that's what we will need minimum to do it properly.

    Norway

Thank you UK boarder force. Just had one of my plans that I've been wanting to do for years tipped up this morning. The passage to Brevik Norway from Immingham is no more for passengers. Apparently it was stopped by the British boarder force last September Joy O Joy! Now it's at least another week to the holiday. So now if l wanted to go it's a ferry to Holland then ride up through Germany and Demark and another ferry to Norway. So that's now 2 ferries and 1092miles to do just to get to our original starting point Norway. Gutted
  16. If you start the bike up and rev the motor do the light brighten? If they do this is normally a clear indication that the battery is getting a charge, just be sure the battery terminals are clean and tight, l'm almost certain the short commute in slow traffic is your problem, get yourself an Optimate and you should be fine.
  17. You first need to confirm if the battery is shot or you have a charging issue. I would be inclined to check the battery for water and then stick it on charge. This time of the year the battery get's a real hammering. If your only doing short commutes the battery get little time to recover its charge and in the end won't have enough left in it to turn the motor over. This time of the year having a Optimate charger to stick onto the battery after your commute pay's dividends.
  18. All you'll need is here, this is there European site but that shouldn't pose a problem http://shop.sw-motech.com/en/by+motorbike+or+scooter/SUZUKI/GSX+750+F/index.htm
  19. Hi, if your not experienced this time of the year leave the motorways alone, there horrible dirty places to ride on, your visor and bike will get dirty in a heartbeat, leave them until you know you'll have a clear bright day in front of you to allow you to fully concentrate of the task ahead. This time of the year choose the B roads set your stall out and pick out some points of interests and cafes. You can then stop regularly and relatively easily to take a break have a warm and clean the visor. Daylight is against you at the moment try and get the ride done before darkness. Make sure you keep warm and dry and be sure to have that visor cleaning gear on board. Stay safe enjoy
  20. Hi a good place to try is here http://www.ultimateaddons.co.uk/Vehicle_Accessories/Motorcycle_Accessories?cat=Attachments
  21. Micron cans are somewhat sort after theses days, instead of butchering the one you've got why don't you sell it on and get a new one?
  22. We use Mee inear noise cancelling headphones as our helmets have little padding to accommodate the speakers that are suppose to fit into the helmets. We have no issues listening or communicating at almost any speed. We both use balaclavas to hold the units in place also this helps to seal the helmet reducing wind noise
  23. Hi, I have seen these on a stand at a few show's there kit's look the part. http://www.digital-speedos.co.uk/koso-products-42-c.asp
  24. Never done or used any, once a motor is built up there's no need to re torque up bolts, torque up to the correct value first time job done. As for the oil, unless it a complete rebuild with new components - crank, barrels pistons then there's really no need to run in, just let in warm up and gradually build up the power keep checking that every thing's in order. Drop the oil after 500 miles if it's had a complete rebuild as first mentioned but really l don't think there's any need to be using special oil additives with todays oil's and machining tolerances.
