  1. Yes you need a theory, the tests are slightly different as there are a couple of bike specific questions to answer. With a CBT already done, what you do next then depends on how old you are. Basically they're all the same tests but varies what size bike you do it on and what size bike you're allowed to ride afterwards. It's possible to do it without any instruction, some on here have, but there will be insurance implications of getting to the tests on bigger bikes and instruction will explain what's required. viewtopic.php?f=47&t=52550
  2. Me and Mary Jane - Black Stone Cherry
  3. Talk yourself through it, out loud in your helmet Give yourself a running commentary: what you see in front of you, what corner is coming up, what speed you're doing, where you want to be looking, even if you have to say to yourself all the way though the corner "look up, look up, look up" Don't tell yourself "don't look at that bush", tell yourself to look up, round, further. Makes all the difference
  4. Child's play. Much better to put nuggets of dry ice in eppendorf tubes and hide them about the place. Nice big pop after a minute or so and shards of plastic shrapnel flying everywhere*. *So I've heard. I've done that one If your eppendorfs don't lock quite so well (thanks cheap supplier) hide them in cupboards and watch your lab go crazy hearing little pops everywhere My other favourite with dry ice is to throw it in a bin round the back that's filled with rain water. Bonus points if you can resist the urge to start reciting Macbeth

    MiniDisc Media??

Betamax was superior to VHS, unfortunately that doesn't equate to success. There are a lot better formats than MP3 out there too but for some reason MP3 has become the de facto standard as well. I had a portable MD player in 99 which was useful for wandering around, lose count of the amount of CD's I destroyed in portable CD player, but it was helluva faff getting them off the CD onto the MD. Mind you I could level the same at getting songs off CD onto MP3 player but that doesn't seem to have stopped me
  6. Said it on FB and then proceeded to completely miss the forum thread. Happy birthday matey, hope you had a good day
  7. Bugger, missed this, had a mad manic day yesterday (Where did I leave that tiny violin?) Hope you had a good day mate and the hangover's not that bad this morning
  8. May's a while off Personally I'd say get a decent second hand Jap 125 now, ride it until May and you'll have much more experience when you do come to do your test and when you pass you sell on your 125 for the same money you bought it for Assuming from the question you've done CBT
  9. I'd love to see someone come off and slide down the road in Teflon jeans Gripping the tank would be an adventure as well
  10. I'd consider £300 pushing the boat out for a pair of trousers!!! I don't know what style you're after etc, bit more information would be cool, but I can confidently say don't bother with those!
  11. It's just a ride with a SatNav telling you where to go in your ears. Ride for you, don't worry about the examiner, just ride your normal ride. Don't worry, don't tense, don't try to do anything you don't anyway. Good luck
  12. I have been touched by his noodly appendage
  13. Whereabouts is it? And how you getting there? Welcome to come crash at the olds' in Reading. If you're public transporting I can get you to Guildford for 8:00 easily Getting confused 'coz the only Bridgwater I know is in Somerset
  14. Yay, congrats mate Keep it short and simple, never know if you'll need them again for references and so on. Loads of example resignation letters available online.
  15. "My internet connection is down, can you tell me what's going on?" "It's all detailed on our website, sir"
  16. Is it going to be like the same idea as sending off V5's, is the burden going to be on them to prove you definitely did receive the paperwork?
  17. Look before you change your indicator in case there is anyone there and you have to change your mind and go round again. If you've changed your indicator the person waiting to join at that exit might see it and go right in front of you just as you've decided to go round again and/or looking the other way
  18. Cat, Maia and OhJay checking in. Meandered back up the A46, couple of stops to say goodbyes to Jam and Derek. No significant rain but the wind was getting worse and worse, last stretch up the M1 was bloody hard work. Bikes unloaded and we've got as far as the front door step and cracked open a cider. Bloody great weekend had by all, the atmosphere was incredible this year. Lovely to see all the old faces, wonderful to meet all the new ones. Great rideout thank you Roy. Great night thank you Sue and Rennie, great location thanks to everyone who suggested and arranged. When's next year's?
  19. Happy birthday Bob, have a good day. Anything nice planned?
  20. Went to the rally last year in the car. What we normally get on two bikes filled two cars... completely
