  1. littlecat and ohjay crew all home safe and sound, bikes unpacked, doorstep cider opened , and Chinese menu in hand . thanks to everyone involved this year, and everyone who turned up, superb weekend with old friends and new...brilliant crowd, good weather , all round cracking time.
  2. I think our aim is early to mid afternoon..meeting at Leicester at around 12, then amble down with a stop or 3 , we've got a slightly poorly pillion at the moment , so the pace will depend mostly on how well she holds up .
  3. first year of grammar school was third form, then lower fourth, upper fourth, lower fifth etc etc. years 1-12 seems simple in comparison lol
  4. happy belated birthday stu..hope it was a good 'un
  5. impossible to say if you'll get bored, everyones different. if you've only just started riding , id probably skip the a2 and wait till 24 to do the DAS....then again, if you want the bigger bike now and can afford to do das twice, get a2 now, then upgrade in a year when you turn 24 if you do start wanting something bigger. my daughter rides a restricted ER5 on A2, and can happily keep up with the rest of us on bigger bikes, I guess its more about how you ride than what you're actually riding.
  6. why would you need to overtake someone going the same speed? surely you only need to overtake if they're slower and holding you up. but yes drop gear(s) to give you a bit more oomph
  7. if your bike is over 10 years old get personal cover...I have it and it covers both my bikes and the car ( my cbr 400 is over 20 years old and I already called them out to it on the way home when I first bought it... fully recovered, no problem ) ...that's RAC btw, though I believe AA offers the same cover
  8. have done 4 day weekends totalling just under a thousand miles, and even that cripples me...230 miles a day is still about 30 too much ...but everyone differs I guess. cut yourself a decent window..allow for plenty and frequent stops, and make sure you refuel each time ( food /coffe/sugar hit ). spare gloves an absolute must... and don't believe the makers assertion that anything is totally waterproof...that's rarely true. lastly, check the legal obligations, some places require you to carry all manner of stuff...hi vis, warning triangles, spare bulbs etc.
  9. renew the cbt..then wait and do A2,,, I really cant see the point of the A1 unless you intend to stay on a 125 for a long time and need/want to use motorways or carry a pillion ( and neither is fun on a 125 )
  10. and having group leader and tail end Charlie in hi vis helps markers to identify them easily ...we usually have tail end Charlie in an orange vest
  11. definitely use a drop off marker system , and a tail end Charlie....depending on the size of the group a double marker system works better if theres lots of bikes. would also suggest that both lead bike and tail end Charlie swap numbers with everyone incase you lose a bike or 2. and make sure you're aware of the implications....group ride leaders have been known to be held responsible for the actions of anyone in the group.
  12. in reality I have no bloody idea what she was doing with it...just know it disappeared for a fair few days and took us nearly 4 hours to coax it back out using roast chicken and a ramp lol
  13. great job Joe...just a word of warning...once the lucky child has unlimited access....pop in every time shes been in there and check it out....we had a 2 story one in the garden when kitty was growing up, and she once kidnapped a neighbours cat and kept it in there for about 6 days
  14. we should try some other times,

    Hi?

we better bloody remember you , or meeting up for valley could be awkward :P nice to see you back here hun
  16. checking your license wont tell them whether or not you have a cbt, but yes , you definitely need one .
  17. all four of us coming again...we're just not on the list yet due to not having coughed up pennies as we're in the middle of buying a house right no9w
  18. job done ( by OhJay ) thanks guys
  19. wwill both parts of the switchgear not be threaded then ?
  20. ok guys, need some help here, need to remove switchgears off chiras bike to tape under them as since fitting the new bars theyre not tight enough, BUT 2 of the screw heads have comjpletely rounded off and we cant remove them...we have tried proper screw/bolt extractors , but theyre not shifting......help please before I set fire to the damn thing
  21. personal preference plays a huge part once you are competent, as seen here... I personally have a very strong relationship with the rear brake, as im a shortarse who cant touch the floor, therefore I need to be able to stabilise the bike at will, and the rear does that \( with experience and practice) , but I also use the front when its appropriate...and im not going to tell you when that is... it will differ with your speed, experience , even riding style......learn to use both.. both independently and together...then do what works for you , and the current situation....don't be caught out by not having tried things that you may later need to rely on
  22. the lady stars are awesome....built up heel and sole, all hidden inside a reasonably normal looking touring boot...loads of adjustment and totally weatherproof
