  1. Geocaching ?? Yes Bob going to go down via Bala and the coast then come back via the middle of Wales and crossgates. Geocaching !!!!! No the TMBF Challenge http://themotorbikeforum.co.uk/viewtopi ... 12&t=46714 Well....I hope the weather is better for you than it was for me mate.......and watch out for all the roadworks....they seem to be digging every bl**dy road in Wales up at the moment!..... The queue for the roadworks just south of Criccieth towards Porthmadog was terrible....ended up going over the top from Cricceith and down the A487.....long way round...but at least it was moving OK..... Good Luck mate......
  2. I'd advocate a set of Textiles 2nd hand off eBay.....something from a decent maker and with full armour.....you'd be suprised what you could pick a full set of gear up for..... Boots too.......wearing trainers on a bike is not ideal....and if you drop the bike, even stationary, and it lands on your ankle you'll be fooked without decent boots on.....

    Sprint st agony

Yeah....the custom map was pretty sweet......no nasty blips or flat spots.....and fuel economy was about the same as standard map with standard exhaust......
  4. Nice one TC.....I was in Tenby last Weds night.......are you picking up the Wales tags this week then mate?.....
  5. Easy mate....one days riding...... I have to admit, Portsmouth looks pretty tempting Wales mate......860 miles in 5 days.....nice and steady.....
  6. Easy mate....one days riding......
  7. Great to see you guys down there tonight....and the meet at Papworth was pretty good.....deffo up for going there again...... Sorry we bailed out on you early Darren.......just wanted to check Papworth out.......well worth a visit mate......and tea & coffee at 50p a mug, cans of drink for 80p and BBQ'd burgers for £2 it's a bit cheaper than the Marina too......

    Sprint st agony

Mine did it worse on partial throttle openings......wound wide open it was fine.....but trundling along in traffic it felt like it was going to cut out......so I'm guessing it's to do with the fuelling at certain throttle positions....and exhaust back pressure could have something to do with it......
  9. So....when it gets to 8000rpm does it start stuttering.....or does it just not go any further?

    CBR 600 cutting out

Glad you got it sorted out mate.......I thought it sounded like fuelling of some description......
  11. Bikes are out of the garage....poised......we'll see ya down the Marina...then on to Papworth......
  12. Congrats mate....... Roll on MOD2 then......
  13. If you are thinking of a stand I'd recommend the ABBA Stand.....I found them more stable than a traditional paddock stand.....and they now do an added bit where you can get the front wheel off the ground too...... I tend to fit paintguard kits to my bikes......just protects the paintwork from damage....keep your pride and joy looking as good as the day you bought it..... I modified an 2ndhand seat to fit a Danmedica gel pad.....works quite well.....but my *rse is still cracking nuts after a couple of hours on the bike.....
  14. I voted for "other" as none of them are Triumphs...... But as Rennie says...you've got to go and sit on as many bikes as you can to find the one that "fits".....and a 800cc Cruiser will be a softer tune......so probably not as "whizzy" as the XJ6....more low end torque....so don't rule the cruisers out if that's what you like......
  15. EAB's spot on....sounds like a bad earth somewhere.....
  16. Hopefully....work permitting.....we'll be down there...... May just pop up to Papworth to check it out if we've got time too.....

    Sprint st agony

Hi mate....I had Tridents on my 2005 Sprint ST......I also had problems with the maps..... The TOR map didn't seem to work too well as I recall.....and I ended up plumping for one of the custom maps......I'll have a look later and see if I can remember which map it was. I don't think it's a faulty O2 sensor....but the map you downloaded, was it with or without O2 and SAI.....obviously if they are still on the bike you need a bit with them. B69 looks like it's for no-cat, SAI removed, no O2, etc....so probs not the best for your bike!! I used the Sprint_ST_05_06_aftermarket_pipe.hex map and that worked OK on my 05 bike. Obviously the correct map will depend on the VIN number range that your bike is in.....so just try the TOR map for the correct VIN again and try resetting the adaption again. Also look on the RAT forum under TuneECU....as there's a load of stuff there relating to mapping the bikes.
  18. Yes it was in the second gear with clutch out, when I put the clutch in the noise stops. One thing I didn't mention was it got power washed the day before, could that of done anything? Power washing bikes is not a great idea mate.....too many exposed connectors to get filled with water.....and it can wash the grease out of bearings and linkages..... I'm sorry to say that I don't think the power washing is your problem.....lack of oil was...... Try shining a torch into the plug hole and turn the engine slowly and see if you can see the piston crown.....and if there is any damage on it.......
  19. Yeah....it's kinda hard to diagnose a problem on a bike using Youtube video shot on a phone camera......
  20. Just to clear any confusion Ricky.....when you're pushing the bike is it in gear with the clutch out.....or in neutral or with the clutch in?
  21. But when he spins it on the starter it's definitely knocking then too.....only a bit slower..... I'd like to think that it's something simple....but TBH partially seizing an engine is never going to end well...... I hope for Ricky's sake that I'm proved wrong.....
  22. Drain it mate....just don't forget to put the bung back on the end when you've done it.......
  23. If you listen to the vid it makes the same noise on the starter....but not as fast as the starter is spinning the engine slower.....I've got an external speaker hooked up to the laptop and the noise is definitely there on the starter..... I don't think it's transmission......why would the bike fail to start because of a slack chain or worn sprockets? I say bottom end because that's what it sounds like to me....but without seeing the bike it's all guess work.....it could be the piston hitting a dropped valve......hard to tell really..... If it were my bike....I'd start with pulling the cylinder head off and checking all around there.....and if that showed nothing then I'd go about splitting the crankcases and checking the bottom end..... Pull the spark plug out and shine a torch into the plug hole and slowly turn the engine and see if there's anything on the piston crown.....or anything floating around in there.......but I'd certainly not be turning the engine over quick as it can be doing more damage if there is a valve floating around in there..... Good luck Ricky
  24. Hate to say this Ricky....but that don't sound good at all..... I think it's gonna need an engine strip......sounds to me like bottom end noise......big-end bearings or the like.....
  25. I really don't know the area......so I can't do much....but maybe anyone else who knows it may be able to help if TC is indisposed......
