  1. If anyone is up for this (a little way off yet)...... Waterbeach to Hunstanton on Sunday 12th May 2013. See link for more details: http://www.wheel-fit.co.uk/Events/rideoutmay2013.html
  2. I'll see what I can find out for you mate.......
  3. Chances are that the battery is just not holding a charge....but I wouldn't jump to doing anything else until you've got the voltmeter and can check the battery voltage with the engine running.....
  4. Shame it's a bit too far for us this early in the year......and especially as we have the Southend Shakedown the next day.....but good luck with it anyway Joolz.......

    HELPPPPP!!!

Good deal you get there Tim...... Have a look on eBay for CG bits....there's normally a stack of them on there..... Would the wheel rims clean up with some Solvol and elbow grease? I think it would be well worth a bit of time and money to sort that bike out.....it looks to be in generally fair nick.....and I'm sure that as long as you don't spend hundreds on it you'd get your money back when you sold it.....
  6. There's a guy around here (Cambridgeshire) that tends to organise a run from Cambridge Services to Addenbrookes hosp in aid of Prostate Charities...... I think he looks for a £5 contribution to take part in the run. Shame, but last years run was a complete washout.....and that's always the risk when organising a bike ride.... Anyway....keep us posted.....

    Decat pipe

Never had an emissions test on my bikes either......
  8. I think big rides can be a logistical nightmare.....and I think the police are shying away from providing escorts for such things these days. Not being negative, just observations from a few rides I've been along to in the past..... Prostate Cancer charity support is something very dear to my heart.....so depending on the logistics, I would certainly be tempted...... So if you get any more info on venue, dates, etc post it up and we'll take a serious look at it.....

    oil sump gasket

I guess that Keith is hoping not to have to take the sump off again.... Only ever had to take the sump off a bike once before......after I overdid the sump plug.......hence the reason I use a torque wrench all the time now..... Anyhoo.....most bikes these days will only need the gasket without any sealant.....gone are the bad old days of poorly machined mating surfaces.....
  12. Stu or Susieque will let you know......
  13. Everyone is welcome Jack.....the more the merrier.....

    CG rev problem

And also check that you've not got an air leak around the carb....particularly on the inlet stub to the cylinder head.....
  15. Are you going to bring the lathe to the rally Alan?...
  16. Nice one Alan......soon have your bike for Daytona Speed Week ready.....
  17. Here it is.....Spirit of the 70s......
  18. Cafe Racer Fozzie......plenty of scope.......and available bikes. Saw an article last year in a Mag (can't remember which one) of a Yamaha XS750 that had been cafe racer'd....looked bloody gorgeous..... I'd really love the time a facilities to do something like that.....
  19. Batteries drain anyway due to the internal resistance. The DC-DC convertor will draw some current but without something drawing significant power from the device the current draw will be pretty well insignificant.....certainly no more than an alarm would draw. Balance this against the possibility of damaging the bikes wiring or overloading a circuit I'd be inclined to go with connecting direct to the battery personally. A case of balancing risks really.....
  20. Nice one Darren.....I'll put more details up a bit nearer the time.....
  21. Depends on the wiring Stu...but often one side of the horn will go to the live feed somewhere and the other side of the horn will go to the button which will then ground that side of the circuit causing current to flow through the horn..... Personally I think I'd just wire it to the battery.....it has an inline fuse to protect the circuit....you just need to remember not to leave anything plugged into it..... Better than splicing into the bikes wiring somewhere IMHO.....
  22. So....where is the list and the map? The UK Challenge 100 in the Site News banner is 2012's......
  23. Nice one Alan....hopefully the weather will be kinder to us this year.....
  24. Early warning for the Southend Shakedown on Easter Monday 1st April 2013. Hopefully the weather will be better this year and we'll actually make it down there.... For those who don't know of this event it's a rideout from the Ace Cafe in London to Southend Seafront and is held anually on Easter Monday. More info can be found on the Ace Cafe website. We normally make our own way down there and meet Bonniebird's brother en-route. We'll post nearer the time with our route from Cambridgeshire and departure time etc.....
  25. Nice pics Priest.....up our neck of the woods....could've met up with you for a cuppa if I'd known you were heading this way.....maybe next time mate....
